Oops! It looks like Sony is getting ready to release its next-generation WH1000XM4 wireless active noise cancelling headphones because they were just revealed in a big leak. There’s a regulatory body in Brazil called Anatel, which is basically the country’s version of the Federal Communications Commission in the United States. You know how the FCC sometimes leaks devices before they’re released by making regulatory filings public? Well, a blogger named Everton Favretto just discovered Sony’s upcoming WH1000XM4 ANC headphones on Anatel’s website. Here’s a photo of them:

The image isn’t all that exciting and guess what: neither are the new features discovered in the Anatel filing. According to the user manual, the only upgrades are Bluetooth 5.0 instead of 4.2, marginally longer battery life, and a feature that will apparently let you call the voice assistant to attention without having to push a button like you do now.

You know what? Pushing a button really isn’t that difficult and it’s certainly not worth getting too excited about. What’s more, it’s definitely not worth paying extra for. Sony’s current premium ANC headphones cost $350 and the new model will likely cost the same amount, but Amazon has the current-generation version on sale right now at a deep discount.
