People across the country are spending more time at home than ever before. Unless you have an essential job and you’re still going to work each day, that likely means you’ve been spending far more time than you usually do streaming movies and shows on Netflix. If you’ve already made it through all the popular shows that people can’t stop talking about like Ozark, Tiger King, and Money Heist, you might be getting frustrated as you search for new content to watch. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
If you’ve been laid off or furloughed and you’re looking for ways to cut costs, we stand by our earlier recommendation. Cancel Netflix for now and use one or all of the 10 free streaming services we recommended instead. Then, once you’re back to work and you free up some cash, you can always activate your Netflix subscription again. If you’re still working or if you refuse you drop Netflix even for a month or two to save some cash, you’ll find 10 movies and shows you might’ve missed listed below that are available to stream right now.

How to make your own coronavirus face masks with virus neutralizer
- Wondering how to make your own face masks at home to protect yourself from the novel coronavirus outbreak? You’re not alone, and there are several great DIY face mask guides to follow.
- People across the country are being advised to wear protective face masks in order to help shied themselves and prevent becoming infected with or spreading COVID-19.
- Here, we’ll show you how to make one of the more effective types of coronavirus face mask complete with integrated virus neutralizer.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Just last week we gave our readers an awesome guide that explained how to make coronavirus face masks at home quickly and easily. In fact, those DIY face masks are so easy to make that you don’t even have to sew. Most of the materials you need to make those particular masks are simple things that you already have lying around your house. There are really only two things you need that might not already be readily available, and they’re both in stock and shipping now from Amazon. Definitely check out our guide for more details.
As we said, those masks are great because they’re very easy to make and they’re far more effective than just a t-shirt or a scarf. That said, they’re nowhere near as effective as medical-grade face masks that some people wear. The CDC is quite clear that “any face covering is better than nothing,” but you still shouldn’t buy N95 face masks even if you do manage to find them online or in a nearby store. Doctors, nurses, first responders, and others on the front lines of the war against the novel coronavirus have a far greater need than you do, and there is still a terrible shortage of masks and other PPE.
While it’s true that something is better than nothing, there are certainly degrees of effectiveness based on the materials and design you use. The masks in the guide linked above are more effective than any basic cloth masks, for example, but now we’ve found a guide for DIY coronavirus face masks that are even more effective than those. The guide comes from the same YouTube channel, and the vlogger basically tried to reverse-engineer an N95 mask. The end result is NOT as effective as a medical-grade respirator, of course, but it’s easily one of the best face mask designs we’ve come across. In fact, it even has its own integrated virus neutralizer.
That said, this mask is a bit more complicated than the one above and there are definitely more materials that you’ll need to make it. Here’s the full materials list:
- Virus Neutralizer
- Outer Layer: Option 1, option 2, option 3
- Middle Layer
- Inside Layer
- Oil Absorbing Pads
- Silicone
- Silicone gun
- White Tape
- Black Tape
- Elastic
Once you’ve got all that ready to go, you’ll find all the instructions you need in the video embedded below.
Here’s a better breakdown of the materials and prices:

One of the iPhone 12’s biggest design changes just leaked
- A leaker who revealed several Apple secrets so far, including the actual iPhone SE release date, shared on Twitter images showing the iPhone 12 design.
- The design illustrations reveal one of the most significant changes coming to the iPhone 12 series.
- The new iPhone will supposedly feature a smaller Face ID notch at the top, as the speaker will be moved up to the top bezel.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The iPhone 12 series will sport a brand new design, several leakers said over the course of several months. The phone will resemble the iPad Pro and iPhone 5 more than the iPhone 6 and iPhone X designs that we saw in recent years, these leaks said. The iPhone 12 will have a chassis with flat sides, and the phone is getting an entirely flat display as well. Only a few days ago, we saw the purportedly leaked iPhone 12 design that revealed, among other things, that the new handset will have even smaller bezels than before. The one thing that’s not going away this year is the Face ID notch that sits at the top of every iPhone launched since iPhone X with the exception of the iPhone SE. However, that notch is getting a lot smaller, and a well-known leaker just posted schematics for the massive notch design change.

iPad Air with under-screen Touch ID and 12-inch ARM MacBook in the works, leaker says
- A leaker says Apple will launch a bunch of new products, unlike anything it ever made.
- iPad Air with an under-screen Touch ID sensor and a 12-inc ARM MacBook are among the new products Apple is rumored to make this year.
- The leaker offered accurate information about some of the products Apple launched in 2020, including the new iPad Pro series and the iPhone SE.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Apple is working on a few devices unlike anything it had made before, an anonymous leaker said. The ARM MacBook that was featured in a variety of other reports, is one of them. That’s a MacBook using a custom version of Apple’s A-series chips that power the iPhone and iPad. Several people have long theorized that the increasingly more powerful A-series processors could be used inside Macs, and it looks like we’re nearly there. The leaker also said that Apple will launch a brand new iPad Air design, a tablet that will feature an under-screen Touch ID fingerprint sensor, that would be a first for Apple, as the company avoided this particular type of technology on its devices so far.

New website visualizes how fast the coronavirus is spreading across each U.S. state
- A new website from Instagram’s co-founders illustrates how fast the coronavirus is spreading across each U.S. state.
- Coronavirus cases in New York and New Jersey appear to have peaked.
- States without stay-at-home orders are seeing a big increase in coronavirus cases.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger recently unveiled a new website that provides an immersive and accurate look at how fast the coronavirus is spreading or subsiding on a state-by-state basis.
The site is called RT.live and uses data from the Covid Tracking Project which boasts that it houses the most complete and up-to-date data regarding coronavirus cases in the country. What makes the website unique is that it doesn’t just provide users with raw Covid-19 data — which can be found anywhere — but rather uses a statistical method to gauge the rate at which the virus is spreading.

Wireless carriers are breaking the promise not to cancel people’s service
- Last month, the major wireless carriers signed on to the FCC’s Keep Americans Connected Pledge, which promised no service disconnections for 60 days if consumers are having trouble paying their bills.
- It was a reasonable pledge, given how much of a catastrophic impact the COVID-19 coronavirus has had on the US economy.
- However, some carriers are apparently still disconnecting customers anyway.

Anthony Skojec, a furniture salesman who lives in New York who was recently furloughed from his job, got an unpleasant surprise a few days ago: His cell phone service (through Verizon) had been disconnected, and the carrier told him he’d have to pay $360 right away to get it turned back on.
Skojec went ahead and paid the money, but he had to dip into his unemployment financial assistance to do so. Which means “I can’t pay anything on the mortgage,” he told an NBC News reporter. Making matters worse when his own service was disconnected was the fact that his children’s phones and broadband connections — which they’ve depended on for remote learning during the coronavirus pandemic — were also turned off.

Pixar artists are teaching people how to draw movie characters during their quarantines
- As the coronavirus pandemic drags on into its second month, at least for most people around the US, the long stretches of time spent at home under quarantines and stay-at-home orders can start to feel endless. People are having to get increasingly creative with quarantine activities they find to do.
- Luckily, Pixar artists have come to the rescue — they’re offering video tutorials showing people how to draw characters from Pixar movies.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Weekends and free time have seemed an ill-defined construct, the longer the coronavirus pandemic goes on and most of us remain quarantined at home — hunkering down, marking time, riding out the virus. The days bleed into each other, one after the next, the weekends are here, and you’re still stuck at home.
People have gotten pretty creative in how they’re finding ways to keep entertained, now that the coronavirus crisis is well into its second month in the US. Quarantine Olympics, bingeing Tiger King on Netflix, and “virtually” touring art galleries and museums around the world are just some of the things people have found to do to keep busy. Meanwhile, here’s one I didn’t see coming and which the Pixar fan in me highly appreciates — the beloved film studio’s artists have begun sharing lessons you can follow to learn how to draw some of your favorite Pixar movie characters. Which, if you ask me, is hard to beat as a quality way to spend your time during your coronavirus quarantine.

Coronavirus survivors are testing positive again and showing symptoms
- An increasing number of COVID-19 survivors have tested positive again for the novel coronavirus in South Korea.
- The caseload of coronavirus relapses more than doubled in a week within the country.
- An increasing number of relapsed coronavirus patients have shown mild symptoms, and some of them might be contagious.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
One of the novel coronavirus puzzles that scientists are still trying to figure out concerns an unexpected phenomenon that has been observed in many countries affected by the pandemic. Some COVID-19 patients who have been declared cured after testing negative twice in 24 hours end up relapsing, if that’s even the proper way to describe it. They test positive again at a later point in time, and there’s no clear answer as to why that happens. Also, it’s unclear whether these patients are contagious and can infect others, but some of them do show mild COVID-19 symptoms upon the second reinfection. The newest data coming from South Korea, a country that has the local COVID-19 epidemic under control, shows a growing number of people who are testing positive a second time.

Netflix arrivals and departures for the week of April 19th, 2020
- Netflix has another busy week ahead, with 19 new releases coming to the streaming service, including a thriller about a black market mercenary starring Chris Hemsworth.
- The second season of Ricky Gervais’s well-received After Life is arriving this week as well.
- If you’re a fan of Silicon Valley or Parks and Recreation, you should check out Middleditch & Schwartz, which is a series of improv shows from two very funny actors you should recognize.

We might not be getting a new Thor movie any time soon, as Disney has had to delay all of its MCU movies due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see Chris Hemsworth on the small screen in the meantime. Hemsworth is the star of a Netflix thriller called Extraction, which is out this week, and certainly looks thrilling. Other gems this week include After Life season 2, Middleditch & Schwartz, and Django Unchained.

Elon Musk says your Tesla will be able to drop you off and park itself later this year
- Tesla is working on a new Smart Summon feature that would enable a vehicle to drop off the driver and then find a parking spot on its own.
- Tesla CEO Elon Musk calls the feature Reverse Summon and indicated that it’s coming later this year.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk often likes to say that Tesla vehicles are the only cars that actually get better after they leave the lot. And while Musk is certainly prone to hyperbole, he’s pretty spot-on in this regard thanks to Tesla constantly introducing new features and enhancements via over the air software updates.
One of the more intriguing software updates we’ve seen from Tesla in recent months has been Smart Summon. As the name subtly implies, Smart Summon allows Tesla owners to remotely turn on their car and have it drive itself over to wherever they happen to be standing in a parking lot. So imagine, for example, you leave a grocery store in the rain with five bags in your hand. Instead of having to clumsily make your way over to your car and get drenched in the process, you can summon your car to pick you up.
