The 5 best Apple deals on Amazon right now
- Amazon has adopted a temporary new policy in light of the novel coronavirus outbreak that is devastating the US right now.
- The nation’s top online retailer has said it is moving away from shipping nonessential products until later this month, but there are still great deals to be found on “nonessential” items that are shipping out immediately.
- Among them, several discounts on popular Apple devices shine brightest, including price cuts on AirPods 2 and Apple’s latest iPad models.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The novel coronavirus is obviously at the top of everyone’s minds right now, and that’s as true of executives at big companies as it is of the rest of us. That is perhaps why Amazon decided to temporarily shift warehouse space and shipping resources away from nonessential products in order to free up capacity for essentials. Of course, those of use in quarantine still have a need for items deemed nonessential, so there are still some nonessential products that are shipping out immediately.
Apple devices and accessories are obviously among the most popular in the world, and so many of them are still shipping. What’s more, there are actually some terrific deals to be found despite everything that’s going on. Here, we’ve rounded up the five best Apple deals out there right now so you can stock up and save.
AirPods 2
Everyone knows that AirPods are the most popular wireless earbuds out there, but they’re also quite pricey. If you head over to Amazon, however, you’ll find AirPods 2 on sale with a $20 discount and AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case are on sale with a $30 discount. Self-quarantine will go much smoother with great music playing through great earbuds.
Apple AirPods with Charging Case: $139.00
Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging Case: $169.00
AirPods Pro
We debated whether or not to include this one since Apple’s AirPods Pro aren’t on sale right now, but they’re the most popular AirPods version we cover even when they’re full price. They’re in stock on Amazon and shipping right now, which isn’t very common so don’t miss this opposrtunity.
Apple AirPods Pro: $249.00
iPads
There are a bunch of great deals on Amazon right now on iPads, and they’re shipping right away. Trust us, a tablet is an awesome thing to have in quarantine and it’s so much better than streaming stuff to a tiny smartphone screen. 10.2-inch iPads start at just $279 instead of $329 on Amazon right now, and tons of iPad Pro models are discounted as well.
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 32GB) – Space Gray (Latest Model): $279.00
Apple iPad Pro (11-inch, Wi-Fi, 64GB) – Space Gray (1st Generation): $699.99
New Apple iPad Pro (12.9-inch, Wi-Fi, 128GB) – Space Gray (4th Generation): $947.14

Need a new laptop? Want an Apple machine but don’t want to pay top dollar? The previous-generation MacBook Air is on sale right now for just $749.99, which is a big discount compared to the normal price of $1,000.
Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD Storage) – Silver: $749.99
Accessories
Last but certainly not least, definitely hit Amazon’s Apple accessories page for tons of surprisingly good discounts on popular accessories. Cables, iPhone cases, and more are on sale right now, but some popular items are starting to sell out.

Crazy wireless camera that lets your phone see anywhere is down to its lowest price
- Most nonessential items on Amazon have big shipping delays at this point, but there are still some great deals to be found on products shipping out right away — if you know where to look.
- One deal in particular drops one of the best-selling smartphone accessories we’ve ever covered, the Depstech WF010 Wireless Borescope Snake Camera, back down to its lowest price ever.
- It connects to your phone wirelessly to let your smartphone see just about anywhere, and the new upgraded model is on sale at an all-time low as well.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The Depstech WF010 Wireless Borescope Snake Camera is the sort of thing that you’ve probably never heard of before. Once you get one though and you see how incredibly useful it can be in so many different situations, you won’t be able to imagine ever being without one again.
In a nutshell, this little gadget has three main components. First, there’s a small box that houses a battery and circuitry, as well as a Wi-Fi radio. Next comes the 11.5-foot-long “snake” part of the device, which is a semi-rigid tube that can be extended and shaped however you want. Finally, there’s a camera on the end of the tube that captures live video as you snake the device into anything and everything you want.
DEPSTECH Wireless Endoscope, IP67 Waterproof WiFi Borescope Inspection 2.0 Megapixels HD Snake…: $28.79 (use code GSD8NBF2 by 4/5)
There are so many great uses for this device that it’s difficult to know where to begin, so let’s first cover exactly what it does. The WF010 connects wirelessly to your iPhone, iPad, or Android device and turns it into a remote viewfinder and controller. You can see exactly what the camera sees as you snake it into something, and you can also use the phone to record video or capture still photos.
Here’s a quick blurb from a 5-star review on Amazon that explains one of the countless use cases for it:
I had a water leak in my wall. I didn’t know where it was and the Endoscope enabled me to find it by drilling 1/2 inch holes in the wall. I was amazed when I found the water pipe with the hole in it (see image). Hiring a plumber could have cost me over $500, but I was able to isolate the problem and fix the leak for less than $100 (including the cost of the scope).
It’s waterproof, by the way, so that reviewer didn’t have to worry about getting the borescope wet. Here’s another Amazon review:
Worked perfectly to help me get a gas can protector cap out of my tractor gas tank. Handled a half hour deep in diesel gas, no problems!
That second one is of particular interest because it touches upon something else you can do with this Depstech borescope. It comes with a few attachments that clip to the end and add all sorts of functionality. Once cool one is a mirror that lets you see around corners as you work the camera into a tight space. Then there’s a hook attachment that lets you fish things like keys and jewelry out of places you might otherwise never reach. That’s the attachment the reviewer above used to retrieve the cap from his gas can.
There’s a reason the Depstech WF010 Wireless Borescope Snake Camera is one of the most popular smartphone accessories we’ve ever covered: it’s awesome. It’s also on sale right now at its lowest price of the year right now if you clip the 5% coupon on the Amazon page and use the promo code GSD8NBF2 at checkout — just $28.79. Definitely pick one up while it’s on sale at a deep discount and email us to let us know how you used it. Maybe we’ll feature your story next time it goes on sale!
DEPSTECH Wireless Endoscope, IP67 Waterproof WiFi Borescope Inspection 2.0 Megapixels HD Snake…: $28.79 (use code GSD8NBF2 by 4/5)
There’s another, newer model available as well called the Depstech WF060 Wireless Borescope Camera, and it offers a few big advantages over the WF010. First, it’s got a much higher-resolution camera that packs 5 megapixels instead of 2 megapixels. Second, it supports zoom that you can control right from within the app. And third, it’s longer at 16.5 feet instead of 11.5, so it can be fed even deeper into tight spaces. Use the promo code EFJCW8W8 between now and April 5th and you can snag one for just $49.49 instead of $66.

An erectile dysfunction drug might improve critical coronavirus cases
- The FDA approved a coronavirus trial of a drug that’s used to treat erectile dysfunction, among other things.
- The drug showed promise in treating ARDS, a common COVID-19 complication for severe cases that require ventilation therapy.
- If the trial is successful, the drug could be used to treat up to 100,000 critical cases.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
One of the problems with highly contagious new viruses like the SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 is that there’s no line of treatment when the outbreak starts. Doctors in China and other countries have tried all sorts of therapies to mitigate the effects of the novel coronavirus on the body. They’ve been using existing drugs that have been approved for other ailments, to treat symptoms, speed up recovery times, and attempt to save critical patients. That’s because it takes time to develop a drug that can deal with the new virus, just as it takes time to come up with a vaccine that could immunize the general population.
All sorts of substances have been tried to mitigate infections and kill the virus, including antiviral therapies for HIV, anti-malarial drugs, and medicine that treats heart disease, to name just a few. The latest addition to the list is a drug called Aviptadil (VIP) that’s used to treat erectile dysfunction, among other things.

This is the best Galaxy S20 deal you can get right now
- Samsung launched a new Galaxy S20 promo that effectively reduces the price of all Galaxy S20 phones by 50%.
- Samsung is offering buyers a 50% buy-back guarantee: you can return the handset in up to 24 months from purchase for 50% of the full retail value.
- The phone has to be in good working condition, which means it can’t show any defects other than regular wear and tear.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The Galaxy S20 is one of this year’s most impressive Android handsets, but it’s also a lot more expensive than we expected it to be. Staring at $999 for the cheapest version, the Galaxy S20 is $300 more expensive than the cheapest and most popular iPhone, the iPhone 11. When Samsung launched the phone in mid-February, I told you that you shouldn’t hurry to buy it. As with previous Galaxy S releases, the price should drop soon after launch, I said at the time. That happened just a few days ago when Samsung discounted the Galaxy S20 by $200. Sure, the discount didn’t apply to all S20 models, but it signaled that Samsung was ready to bargain. A week later, Samsung has an even better Galaxy S20 deal, one that covers all of its Galaxy S20 flavors. The Korean retailer is ready to provide a 50% buy-back guarantee on all S20 flavors, which practically means you’ll buy the handset for 50% of its regular price.

Ancient Mars may have had received water from two major sources
- Ancient Mars may have received its wealth of water from a couple of major sources, new research suggests.
- Studying the content of Martian meteorites that arrived on Earth revealed different hydrogen isotopes that hint at the planet’s watery history.
- A small amount of water and ice remains on Mars today, but the planet is believed to have once hosted vast oceans on its surface.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Ancient Mars likely received a wealth of water from two primary sources, according to a new study by a team at the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. The research, which was published in Nature Geoscience, suggests that Mars’ watery past may have been made possible thanks to two large sources.
Scientists have known for some time now that Mars not only still has a little bit of water, but it used to have a whole lot more. In fact, the Red Planet may have once hosted massive bodies of water that could have supported life, but where exactly did it come from?

Stephen Colbert and John Oliver reunite to talk about coronavirus
- The COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has made it impossible for millions of Americans to go their jobs and offices as normal as a result of new social distancing guidelines — people who include the late-night hosts whose shows temporarily went dark at the exact moment when audiences needed the levity and a break from the news more than ever.
- This week, the shows have started returning to the airwaves, include Conan O’Brien’s, Jimmy Fallon’s, Stephen Colbert’s, and John Oliver’s.
- Colbert and Oliver, both alums of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, had a mini-reunion last night on Colbert’s show, with a live shot of Oliver from his home include in the show, both of the guests bantering and riffing to what would have been their audiences’ hearts’ content (if they would have had an actual audience).
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Late-night hosts are starting to fall back into their normal time-slots this week for broadcasts of the shows that they’re all still shooting from home, thanks to the social distancing requirements of the coronavirus.
Both Stephen Colbert’s and John Oliver’s shows are back on the airwaves, after several days of most talk-show hosts trying to post homemade versions of their shows to YouTube instead. And if you’re constantly trying to find bright spots and positive news amid the torrent of coronavirus-related headlines these days, we’ve got one for you here now — Colbert and Oliver, two alums of The Daily Show, decided to get back together briefly for a segment on Colbert’s show, and the results were, predictably, hilarious.

AI tool finds 3 coronavirus signs that often lead to a severe case
- Most coronavirus cases are mild or moderate, and some people might not even experience any symptoms before they recover from COVID-19.
- The elderly and those suffering from other medical conditions may experience more severe COVID-19 cases, which could require oxygenation and ventilation.
- Researchers used artificial intelligence to find three signs that can accurately predict a severe outcome, including two parameters that are routinely tested in hospitals.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The novel coronavirus outbreak is far from being under control, with COVID-19 ravaging several countries at the moment. The US alone has accounted for nearly 175,000 cases of the more than 818,000 cases worldwide at the time of this writing. Italy is topping the casualty list with over 11,500 deaths and a fatality rate of 11.39%. Social distancing measures and good hygiene habits should significantly flatten the curve, but the results won’t be seen for several more weeks. The lower the curve, the less crowded the hospitals will be. That way, the severe COVID-19 cases will have a better chance of surviving the disease, which still lacks an effective treatment or vaccine.
Several such drugs are in testing, with some of them showing promise in limited trials. Plenty of vaccines are in the works as well, with at least two trials already underway. But there might be another untapped resource that could help doctors create therapies that could assist critical COVID-19 patients: Artificial intelligence. A new study shows that AI has been able to highlight three COVID-19 symptoms that are indicative of severe COVID-19 complications. Interestingly enough, it’s not the most common coronavirus symptoms that signal rapid deterioration after infection. If the discovery can be scaled up to more patients, it could potentially save more lives in the months ahead.

SpaceX’s first crewed operational mission just doubled its passengers
- SpaceX will launch four NASA astronauts and one astronaut from Japan’s JAXA space agency on its first operational crewed mission to the International Space Station.
- The launch is tentatively scheduled for later this year but will entirely depend on the success of SpaceX’s crewed test flight slated to take place in late May.
- It’s unclear if the coronavirus pandemic will affect the test or operational launch dates, but for the moment the schedule remains intact.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
SpaceX’s first operational crewed launch for NASA will include a total of four astronauts. This is up from the previous total of just two and was announced via a NASA press release. The space agency revealed the addition of NASA’s Shannon Walker and Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The pair will be joining the previously-announced duo of NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins and Victor Glover Jr.
All four travelers will be making their way to the International Space Station via a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule launched atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The launch will mark the first operational mission for SpaceX and will come after the first SpaceX crewed test flight, which is currently scheduled to launch by late May.

iPhone 12 production is still on track, but Apple may wait until May to decide on a release date
- TSMC’s plan to mass produce an A14 chip with a 5nm process for the iPhone 12 is still on schedule.
- The iPhone 12 release may be delayed for a few months due to the economic impact of the coronavirus.
- Apple will reportedly nail down an iPhone 12 release date sometime in May.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
A new report from Digitimes (via MacRumors) relays that TSMC’s plan to begin manufacturing 5nm chips is still on schedule. If this is, in fact, the case, it suggests that Apple is still planning to adhere to its iPhone 12 production schedule as closely as possible. Recall, the iPhone 12 will boast an A14 chip that will reportedly be based on a 5nm process.
The benefit of the new 5nm process would manifest in significant performance gains while using markedly less power. Put simply, Apple’s A14 chip will likely represent a huge step up in overall efficiency.
