Some coronavirus patients are still testing positive after recovering

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • More cases have been reported of coronavirus survivors testing positive after recovery.
  • It’s still unclear whether these patients are contagious, as doctors can’t explain why tests return a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 a second time.
  • China says these patients are asymptomatic and unlikely to be contagious, but they’re still put in isolation following a second positive result.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

A series of reports a few weeks ago revealed a troubling detail about the novel coronavirus pandemic. Some patients who had been declared recovered after testing negative in hospitals puzzled physicians in China, Italy, Japan, and South Korea by retesting positive later.

Several explanations were offered for the patients that tested positive again, with scientists arguing these people might not be contagious. Instead, issues with test kits and human error might have been to blame. Also, some patients might have been discharged from hospitals too early to free up resources for severe cases.

The TV shows and movies that everyone is quarantine-bingeing right now on Netflix

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has us all stuck at home right now in order to slow down the spread of the virus — and, in addition to working from home, the quarantines have also meant that time spent on streaming TV and movies from services like Netflix is through the roof at the moment.
  • Here’s a look at some of the content most watched on Netflix right now, including top TV shows and movies right now.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Surprising no one, a new Morning Consult/Hollywood Reporter survey that purports to offer a look at which streaming services people are watching the most of while we’re all hunkering down and quarantining at home to stop the spread of the coronavirus includes exactly the one you’d expect at the top of the list.

Netflix emerged as the hands-down winner, with 35% of respondents picking it compared to 12% of respondents choosing the second-place option, which is listed as “something else.” Explains Morning Consult about the results, “Thirty-five percent of the 2,200 U.S. adults surveyed said it was the streaming platform they had watched most often since health expert guidance recommended staying away from public gatherings earlier this month.” That does beg the question though — with Netflix’s popularity only growing thanks to the captive audience that’s now stuck at home and watching it all the more, where are they gravitating to when it comes to the seemingly limitless amount of choice that Netflix can offer?

Police arrest Florida pastor who said church closings are for ‘pansies’

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • A Florida pastor was recently arrested for holding two church services for hundreds of congregants. The pastor purposefully disregarded stay-at-home directives.
  • The pastor in question, Rodney Howard-Browne, quickly posted bail and was released.
  • According to attorneys for Howard-Browne, the church took a number of measures to adhere to social distancing guidelines, though videos suggest otherwise.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne of the River at Tampa Bay Church was arrested this week after holding a church service in front of a large group of worshipers this past Sunday. Howard-Browne’s open disregard for stay-at-home directives is alarming and, without exaggeration, puts every single one of his congregants in danger.

Compounding matters is that Howard-Browne didn’t just hold a regular service this weekend, he went so far as to bus in people from surrounding cities to attend. Not surprisingly, Howard-Browne is a coronavirus conspiracy theorist and fancies himself a “Holy Ghost bartender.”

‘Black Widow’ might debut online instead of in theaters

  • Black Widow is one of Disney’s biggest 2020 blockbusters, but the film’s release date has been postponed because of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
  • The film might launch on Disney+ launch instead of in theaters, a report claims.
  • It’s unclear how Disney would go about launching Black Widow online, given that Disney+ has yet to arrive in every major region.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The novel coronavirus outbreak will significantly damage the worldwide economy. Millions of people lost their jobs in a matter of weeks as governments around the world instituted various social distancing measures. Commercial activity came to a halt in various countries where only hospitals, pharmacies, grocery stores, and essential services operate.

The entertainment business has taken a serious hit as well. Sporting events have been canceled, and cinemas were shut down in a global effort to flatten the curve. Even late night hosts are recording their shows from home, using iPhones as their cameras. While the internet can’t save the Olympics, it can certainly help movie studios launch some of their coming attractions online, even big blockbusters like Marvel’s Black Widow.

The giant floating hospital outside New York isn’t for coronavirus

  • New York City has become the new epicenter for the coronavirus in the United States.
  • Hospitals in NYC are already at capacity and the situation is only getting worse.
  • To help alleviate the strain, a floating military hospital called the U.S.N.S. Comfort arrived in New York Harbor yesterday. It will be tasked with treating patients who aren’t infected with the coronavirus.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

New York City over the past few days has become the epicenter for the coronavirus, a fact which shouldn’t come as a surprise given how densely populated the city is. Across the state, there have already been 40,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and nearly 1,000 deaths as a result.

Compounding matters is that hospitals in New York City simply aren’t equipped to handle the influx of patients they’re seeing. And with the number of coronavirus cases in the city still growing, the situation is poised to get worse before it gets better.

I have been working from home nearly every day since I took this job more than six years ago, but many of you are sitting on your couch or in your home office during work hours for the very first time. It can be a difficult transition, and you have to find ways to make your space – be it large or small, quiet or loud – as comfortable as you can so that you can be productive in this new environment that you suddenly find yourself stuck in.

Personally, I prefer it to be quiet when I work from home. I don’t have the TV on in the background or music playing in my headphones, but if you don’t mind some background noise while you work, you should consider taking advantage of SiriusXM’s limited-time offer that will give you access to hundreds of channels for free.

The novel coronavirus has now claimed more lives in the United States than did the terror attacks on September 11th, 2001. The troubling statistic is one of many tracked by health officials across the nation and is based on reports from state and local government agencies. At least 3,017 people have died as a result of covid-19 in the US since the outbreak began, and over 160,000 cases have been confirmed.

New York has by far the most cases in the country, with nearly 67,000 positive tests and over 1,200 deaths. Monday was the deadliest day for coronavirus patients in the United States, with over 500 deaths reported for the first time in a single 24-hour period.

More than three years after Activision released a remastered version of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the sequel got the same treatment. On Tuesday, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered arrived on PS4, giving the complete story mode of the 2009 best-seller a fresh coat of paint.

According to the press release, the remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign features “improved texture resolution and detail, revamped animation, remastered audio, and much more.” It’s worth noting that unlike the initial Modern Warfare remaster, there’s no multiplayer component to this release. Many of the maps that appeared in this sequel are already available in the Modern Warfare reboot from 2019.
