iPhone screen mirroring is now supported on some Dell laptops

New Dell laptops can mirror the iPhone’s screen with the help of the new Dell Mobile Connect app.
Announced at CES 2020, the app also lets you take calls and send texts from your laptop, as well as check notifications and transfer certain types of files.
Dell Mobile Connect also works with Android and requires a relatively new laptop to get started.

If you own both an iPhone and a Mac, then you’re probably taking advantage of a handy feature Apple launched a few years ago to make it easier to switch back and forth between the two devices. Called Continuity, the feature lets you resume the work you started in certain apps, including the browser and Mail, on the other device. The feature also lets you take calls and send texts directly on the Mac. Add to that quick wireless transfers, and you end up with the kind of cross-device interaction that’s not really available on Android.

Windows 10 does support Android mirroring, and Huawei implemented a similar feature on its devices last year. But Windows and Android come from two different companies and aren’t a natural pair. With that in mind, mirroring iPhone on a Dell laptop running Windows 10 might seem just as unnatural. But now it’s possible.

The coronavirus has much of the world on lockdown, and some celebrities simply have no idea what to do with themselves. Case in point: Madonna has been going wild on Twitter and has been posting videos that, at times, are downright nonsensical. The most bizarre post she had involved her floating in a milky bath with rose petals talking about how the coronavirus is the great equalizer. In another post, she started singing a parody song about fried fish. The performance was so cringe-worthy it even prompted Weird Al, the king of parody, to respond: “See? Not so easy, is it?”

Not all celebrities, however, are completely lacking in self-awareness. In fact, some athletes, actors, and musicians have been posting a lot of good content while stuck on lockdown. Some musicians, for instance, have decided to hold free and impromptu concerts in their living rooms for free. And we’re not talking about some C-level musicians you’ve never heard of. We’re talking about A-listers like Garth Brooks, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, and many more.

Google has updated its site and its apps to help travelers make informed decisions about their upcoming trips in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Countless people have had to cancel their travel plans due to the novel coronavirus, but with Google’s latest changes, it should be easier to make the necessary changes.
Many airlines have made significant adjustments to their cancellation policies and change fees due to the coronavirus, and Google has put up a new Help Center page that will link you directly to the policy pages of dozens of airlines.

There are clearly more pressing concerns at the moment than canceling or rescheduling travel plans that were made prior to the World Health Organization declaring the novel coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, but that does not change the fact that countless individuals (myself included) need to change their plans in the coming days. Furthermore, there are still people who need to travel as well, even in the midst of a deadly, worldwide pandemic.

On Tuesday, Google announced a series of changes to help alleviate some of the stress that will inevitably come with attempting to make or change travel plans through its site. Going forward, if you search for information about a flight, a hotel, or things to do at various destinations on Google, you will see COVID-19 travel advisories or restrictions for those locations, along with links to relevant details from your country’s travel authority.

With the coronavirus pandemic still spreading, there’s now a possibility that Apple’s iPhone 12 release may be pushed back by a few months, according to a new report from Nikkei. While we’ve seen previous reports claiming that the iPhone 12 — which will be the first iPhone to support 5G connectivity — might be pushed back to November, the new report suggests that the iPhone 12 release might be pushed back even further.

Apple executives are reportedly worried that demand for the next-gen device will be unusually low on account of the coronavirus’ ongoing impact on economies across the globe. Even if Apple can get iPhone production up to speed and on store shelves by September of this year, the simple reality is that consumers today have far less disposable income than they did a month ago. In turn, Apple reportedly wants to avoid a situation where the collective eyes of the world effectively ignore the iPhone 12 release on account of more pressing matters.

Following the PS5 deep dive last week, Sony hasn’t released any new information about the console.
A new patent from Sony Interactive Entertainment hints at a PS5 feature that will let players load directly into multiplayer matches and single-player levels from the home screen.
Sony reportedly wants playing games on PS5 to be “as easy as Netflix.”

Last week’s PlayStation 5 system architecture deep dive was disappointing for a number of reasons, but chief among them was the fact that we didn’t actually get to see the next-gen console in action. Obviously, technical specifications and hardware innovations are important, but until we can actually see what the PS5 looks like when it is powered on and running games in real-time, none of the teraflops or gigahertz mean much to the average gamer.

Unfortunately, Sony has yet to offer up even a timetable for the rollout of information about the console, and so, in the meantime, we’re reduced to talking about leaks, rumors, and patents instead. The good news is that the latest patent to be discovered hints at an exciting upgrade to the user interface of the PS5 that will make it easier to jump straight from the main menu directly into a multiplayer match or a specific level of a game.

Researchers from the UK have developed a smartphone-connected coronavirus testing device that can be used at home for a fast diagnosis.
The COVID-19 test kit would not have to be delivered to a laboratory and could help medical professionals expand the scope of coronavirus screening.
The device would only cost around $120 and could process up to six swabs at the same time.

Extensive testing for the novel coronavirus is what helped South Korea reduce the number of new cases, or flatten the curve, even though a few weeks ago it looked like the country would be the world’s next major COVID-19 hot zone after China. The opposite happened in almost every other country that registered a massive spike in cases in the past few days. Governments were caught off-guard by the coronavirus outbreak even though China gave the world almost two months to get ready. Extensive testing campaigns would give each country the real picture of the local coronavirus epidemic. It would also help different regions come up with measures to limit the spread of the disease and provide care before symptoms worsen.

Testing isn’t available to all patients in most countries, and that’s because there aren’t enough kits. Also, some tests take too much time to process, so there’s definitely a need for better, faster methods. In the past few weeks alone, we’ve seen research describing tests that can yield results in anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. But speed isn’t everything. The tests have to be available to as many people as possible, and that’s where a smart testing device from the UK might help. Scientists have developed a smart, rapid test that can be used by anyone from the comfort of his or her own home.
