Everyone’s obsessed with this crazy wireless charger that keeps charging when you remove your phone

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • If you’re looking for a simple, run-of-the-mill wireless charger for your smartphone, you can head over the Amazon and easily find several great options for less than $10.
  • Those will all work fine, but anyone who is looking for something a bit more novel should definitely check out the hot new Pitaka MagEZ Juice Dock-and-Go wireless charger.
  • It works just like a regular wireless charging stand when you’re working out the desk, but it has a brilliant and unique feature for when it’s time to go but your smartphone isn’t done charging.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Anyone who wants a regular old wireless charger and is looking to spend as little money as possible can head over to Amazon and find so many terrific options. One example out of the dozens of great options you’ll find is the Letscom 15W Max Fast Wireless Charging Pad that’s on sale right now for only $7.99. That Letscom model will do a great job and it supports every different fast wireless charging speed you might need, all for a fraction of what you would pay for a wireless charger like that from a big-name brand. Definitely grab one if you’re looking for something basic, but there’s a fantastic new wireless charger that just hit Amazon and it’s like nothing else you’ve seen.

It’s the Pitaka MagEZ Juice Dock-and-Go wireless charger, and it has a brilliant design that you’re really going to appreciate.

PITAKA Wireless Charging Stand Dock-and-Go Charger [MagEZ Juice] Magnetic Wireless Charging Pow…: $79.00

Before we get to the charger itself, there is one thing that you need to know about it. The MagEZ Juice Dock isn’t like a normal charging stand where the bottom of the phone rests on a ledge. In order for the charger to work, you’ll need to get yourself one of Pitaka’s magnetic MagEZ smartphone cases, or you can use any other case that has a metal plate in the back. They’re actually pretty common these days, and they’re made so that you can connect the phone to a magnetic car mount or stand. This, of course, is also how the phone connects to the MagEZ Juice Dock.

As you can see in the image at the top of this post, your phone connects to the charger magnetically on your desk. Then, when you need to leave your home or office but your phone isn’t yet finished charging, the inside of the dock pops out and stays connected magnetically to your phone! It’s so cool to have one device that’s both a wireless charger and a portable charger, and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The MagEZ Juice Dock also just got its first discount ever on Amazon, so now is the perfect time to check it out.

iOS 13.4 was just released for all iPhone users

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • After releasing five different versions of the iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 developer betas, Apple just released the final version of iOS 13.4 to the public.
  • It’s not a huge update, but iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 include new Memojis, a CarKey API that will let people use the iPhone as a car key, iCloud folder sharing, new keyboard shortcuts for the iPad, and to purchase bundled iOS and Mac apps.
  • With Apple’s updated iOS 14 platform set to debut at the virtual WWDC 2020 event Apple will host in June, iOS 13.4 could be the last major iOS 13 update to be released before the first iOS 14 beta is released this summer.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Apple released the fifth developer betas of iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 last week, and it looks like enough wrinkles have now been ironed out to make the software fit for public consumption. Apple on Tuesday released the final version of iOS 13.4 for the iPhone and iPadOS 13.4 for the iPad, and they’re both available to download and install on Apple mobile devices beginning immediately. It seemed pretty obvious that the release would come today since Apple just released new iPad Pro models that ship with iPadOS 13.4, but now the new software is available to anyone and everyone with a supported Apple device.

As for new functionality, iOS 13.4 isn’t the most exciting new release but it does pack a few nice new features to go along with all the iOS 13.3 bugs that have been squashed. Examples include brand new Memojis, iCloud folder sharing, and the ability to bundle iOS and Mac apps, And let’s not forget the crazy new CarKey API that will let users leave their key fobs at home and use an iPhone as a car key on supported car models. On top of that, anyone who plans to buy Apple’s new Powerbeats4 wireless headphones will need iOS 13.4 in order to take full advantage of all the new features.

2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics postponed to next year due to coronavirus

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics have been postponed to next year, just as reports said earlier this week.
  • Mounting fears over the coronavirus pandemic have prompted the International Olympic Committee and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to officially announce the delay.
  • The Olympics will take place no later than summer 2021, although actual dates have not been announced.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The coronavirus pandemic just claimed another huge victim: the 2020 Summer Olympics that were set to take place in Tokyo, Japan this summer between July 24th and August 9th. The decision is now official after an insider revealed earlier this week that the Games would be postponed over mounting coronavirus concerns. The decision is now formal, as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese government have agreed to delay the Games by approximately one year.

Get these $200 Sony true wireless ANC earbuds for $100 on Amazon while you still can

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • AirPods Pro by Apple are by far the most popular true wireless earbuds out there right now with active noise cancellation, but that doesn’t make them the best.
  • Sony makes several different pairs of cord-free noise cancelling earphones with sound quality that some experts believe to be far superior to AirPods.
  • Two of Sony’s most popular models are available right now on Amazon for a fraction of their normal prices, but only for a limited time.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

When people think of true wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation these days, Apple’s AirPods Pro are likely the first things that come to mind. It makes sense, of course, considering how remarkably popular they are. If you want a pair of headphones that sound great and that make a statement, AirPods Pro are definitely the way to go. If you don’t care as much about image and you’d rather focus on quality and value though, there are two killers deals right now on Amazon that you might want to check out.

First up are the Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones. They’re Sony’s best-known cord-free earbuds and by far the best ones the company makes in terms of both sound quality and the quality of the active noise cancelling tech. Long story short, they put AirPods Pro to shame in pretty much every way. The only problem is that they cost almost as much as Apple’s ANC earbuds at $228, and that’s a whole lot more than many people want to pay. Well, guess what: You’re not going to pay anywhere near that much.

Head over to Amazon right now and you’ll find them on sale for just $129.99 when you buy them renewed. They’re back by the “Amazon Renewed Guarantee,” which means you don’t have to worry about getting a pair of duds. If something is wrong with them or you’re not happy with them for some reason, you can return them within 90 days for a full refund.

Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Bluetooth Noise Canceling in-Ear Headphones Black (Renewed): $129.99

If $129.99 is still a bit more than you were hoping to spend, don’t worry because there’s also a deal on another popular pair of Sony ANC earbuds. And this time around, they’re brand new as opposed to renewed. The Sony WF-1000XBM1 True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds retail for $200 and they’re almost as good as the pricier WF-1000XM3. We would place them about on par with AirPods Pro, if not a bit better, and they’re on sale today for only $99.99! That’s a fantastic deal, but we doubt it’ll last very long so definitely grab a pair while you can.

CDC found coronavirus traces on surfaces that lasted 17 days, but don’t panic

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • A new coronavirus study from the CDC shows that traces of the novel coronavirus can last on surfaces for even longer periods of time than we initially believed — traces of the virus were discovered 17 days after quarantined cruise ships were vacated, but it wasn’t live virus.
  • That’s not enough to prove transmission from surfaces is possible after such an extended period, but the study reinforces the idea that good hygiene practices are an absolute necessity to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • A recent study showed that the virus can survive and infect people for up to three days on certain surfaces, and these new findings haven’t changed most expert opinions.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It’s been nearly three months since the first COVID-19 case was first reported, and a whole lot has happened since then. Yes, the SARS-CoV-2 virus has infected nearly 400,000 people as of the time of this writing, claiming the lives of more than 16,200 patients, but that’s partly because many countries around the world delayed their responses despite the coronavirus developments that came out of China and then Italy. It’s also because this virus is highly infectious and incredibly resilient. But in those three months, a large number of coronavirus studies have produced important developments. Researchers around the world already analyzed various aspects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the COVID-19 disease, which will help us fight the contagion more efficiently. It’s thanks to those studies that we know we have to stay away from other people, including our loved ones, to minimize the risk of infection. Washing hands often and disinfecting commonly used objects and surfaces at home is also very important as the virus can survive on various surfaces for up to three days, according to recent findings. It turns out that parts of the virus can survive even longer than that though, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found SARS-CoV-2 traces on cruise ships 17 days after COVID-19 patients were vacated.

Amazon has 4 Bose speaker deals that are still shipping right away

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Last week, Amazon made the announcement that it would stop restocking most items deemed nonessential so that it could free up space in its warehouses and free up shipping capacity for medical supplies and other essential items that people might need while the novel coronavirus continues to spread across the United States. Now, we have yet to see any essentials appear back in stock on Amazon at this point, but shipments of many nonessential products are now seeing delays of one month or more.

Amazon’s temporary new policy is fine, of course. In fact, it’s even commendable, or it will be once we start seeing essential products appear back in stock. That said, many people are cooped up in their homes right now as cities and states across the country lock down in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. There are plenty of things we want and need while we spend all that time indoors that might not be deemed “essential,” and we’re running out of ways to get them without leaving the house and potentially exposing ourselves to the new coronavirus.

Thankfully, there are still some deals on popular nonessential items that are shipping right away. For example, you’ll find Apple AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro in stock and shipping immediately today, and the former is back down to the lowest price ever. Those deals are great for listening to music, podcasts, and audiobooks on your own, but what about all the other people in your family? Don’t worry, Amazon has them covered too.

There are still four terrific deals available right now on Bose wireless speakers at Amazon, and they’re all still shipping immediately so you can have one in your hands by the end of the week. The star of the show is likely the best-selling Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker II, which is down to $99 from $130 in four different colors.

Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker II – Soft black: $99.00

Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker II – Aquatic Blue: $99.00

Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker II – Polar White: $99.00

Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth speaker II – Yellow Citrus: $99.00

If you want to spend even less money, you’ll find the Bose SoundLink Micro Portable Outdoor Speaker on sale for just $79, down from $100.

Bose SoundLink Micro, Portable Outdoor Speaker, (Wireless Bluetooth Connectivity), Black: $79.00

Those of you looking for even better sound quality and 360-degree projection will find two other deals that are just what the doctor ordered. The Bose SoundLink Revolve Portable Bluetooth Speaker is $40 off at $159 right now, and the Bose SoundLink Revolve+ is $60 off, dropping the price from $299 to $239. That’s a killer deal.

Bose SoundLink Revolve, Portable Bluetooth Speaker (with 360 Wireless Surround Sound), Triple B…: $159.00

Bose SoundLink Revolve+ Portable & Long-Lasting Bluetooth 360 Speaker – Triple Black: $239.00

Any or all of these deals could sell out at any moment, of course, and you shouldn’t expect to see them back in stock until late April at the earliest. In other words, now is the time to order one if you don’t want to risk missing out.

Coronavirus scam: Netflix is not giving away any ‘free passes’

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Coronavirus scams continue to pop up every day, and the latest targets Netflix.
  • Some Twitter users have reported that they have received messages for Netflix “free passes” during the period of isolation that many of us are currently coping with.
  • Netflix has confirmed this is a scam, and says that there is no ongoing promotion related to coronavirus.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

As the novel coronavirus pandemic forces cities, states, and entire countries to shut down, streaming has become the pastime of choice for millions of people all over the world. Whether you’re working from home or unable to work at all due to the virus, chances are that you’ve taken advantage of a free streaming service trial or two in order to kill some time while you wait for the world to go back to normal in the coming weeks.

In fact, a few services have even introduced promotions for new customers in light of the current crisis, but if you get a text or see a message on social media about a free pass for Netflix, avoid it at all costs.

Experimenting with chloroquine or any other treatment in an attempt to avoid infection can lead to serious harm or even death. Always follow the guidance of doctors and let them decide whether experimental therapies are required.
