SpaceX forced to abort Falcon 9 launch at the last possible second
- A SpaceX launch was called off after an automatic rocket abort on Sunday.
- The launch countdown had already finished, and the announcement of liftoff came before it was clear that the rocket wasn’t going anywhere.
- SpaceX will reschedule the launch, which included 60 of the company’s Starlink satellites, for a later date.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
SpaceX was forced to call off the planned launch of its next Starlink satellite deployment yesterday after an automatic abort was triggered by an automated rocket system. A launch delay isn’t exactly rare, and SpaceX has had to delay countless missions due to weather and other issues that pop up out of nowhere, but this one reared its ugly head at the last possible second.
In fact, the abort was called so late in the launch sequence that the countdown ended and “liftoff!” was announced. The rocket, however, remained on the launch pad, and the announcement of the abort came shortly thereafter.

- The Xbox Series X is theoretically coming out this holiday season, but we don’t know the exact date or how much it will cost when it finally does hit store shelves.
- We also don’t know how much the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Card will cost, which allows users to expand their SSD storage, but might be extremely pricey.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
As of this Monday morning, we know close to everything there is to know about the Xbox Series X. We know what it’s going to look like, we know all of its internal components and technical specifications, we know how big it is compared to the Xbox One X, and we even know how the wireless controller will differ from its predecessor.
A few important mysteries remain, however, and as forthcoming as Microsoft has been with information about the new Xbox ever since it was unveiled at The Game Awards, we have no idea when we’ll get those details.

New Pixel 5 leak suggests Google is about to make a huge mistake
- The Pixel 5 is supposed to be Google’s alternative to the iPhone 12 this year, but a disturbing rumor says the new device might not offer buyers access to true high-end hardware.
- A new leak says the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5 XL will both be powered by an inferior Qualcomm CPU which won’t be as fast as the Snapdragon 865 found in the Galaxy S20 and other Android flagships.
- There’s no indication that Google is developing a third Pixel 5 with hardware matching the best Android handsets currently available.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Google struggles to sell Pixel phones, yet the handset is critical for Android’s success. No matter how well they sell, the Pixel phones have a clear role for Google, one they inherited from the Nexus line. They’re the perfect vessel to carry Google’s vision of Android. They’re the first devices to run Android out of the box and the first to get the new releases, starting from the early beta versions made available to developers each spring.
Without Pixels, regular users will have to wait several months to get their handsets updated, and Google would have no choice but to rely on its partners when it comes to showing off the new capabilities of Android. With all that in mind, Google has no choice but to continue making Pixel phones going forward. And Google’s hardware has to be able to compete directly against the latest iPhone, Galaxy S, and Huawei flagships — at least on paper. But, with the Pixel 5, Google is seemingly about to make a huge mistake.

The top shows everyone is streaming right now during coronavirus quarantines
- One of the many consequences of the coronavirus outbreak is that large numbers of public gathering spots, businesses, restaurants, and entertainment venues are rapidly closing down as officials try and get control of the virus’ spread.
- That leaves streaming TV and movies as one way for people to pass the time as they hunker down at home and ride out the shockwaves from the coronavirus that have disrupted so much of life in the US and around the world right now. Streaming search engine Reelgood has offered this look at the top TV series that its users are bingeing at the moment.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
With cities around the US implementing lockdowns and closures of key public venues and businesses to discourage gatherings that could foster the spread of the coronavirus, streaming is one way many people are choosing to pass the time while they hunker down at home. It’s convenient, and best of all there’s no risk of infection from the public — or the possibility that you could spread the virus to someone else.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the pipeline for many of your favorite streamers will be replenished with as much new content anytime soon. Disney+, for example, has shut down production on its various Marvel TV series, and Netflix has likewise pressed pause on its TV and movie productions which includes work for new seasons of Stranger Things and The Witcher.

This scientific breakthrough may hold the key to defeating the coronavirus
- Scientists around the globe are currently racing to develop a coronavirus vaccine to finally begin to fight back against the COVID-19 virus that’s wreaking havoc, infecting large masses of people, and leading to the loss of life around the globe.
- New breakthroughs from researchers in Texas, as well as China, have shed new light on how the virus actually operates inside the human body, and the hope is that their research could bring everyone closer to the development of a vaccine.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Although the bad news has been mounting in recent days as the COVID-19 coronavirus continues its inexorable spread across the planet, scientists and researchers have made a significant breakthrough that gets them one step closer toward the development a desperately needed vaccine.
That breakthrough involves new insight into how the coronavirus actually works and operates inside the human body, which also explains why it’s so deadly and such a fearsome pandemic. Two teams of researchers — at Westlake University in Hangzhou, China, and at the Univesity of Texas at Austin — have now published the insights they’ve learned about how the virus gains entry into human cells and essentially hijacks them.

New AirPods leaked, but coronavirus might delay Apple’s release
- Apple’s AirPods might soon be refreshed, a new report out of Taiwan says, although the coronavirus pandemic might impact the product’s launch.
- It’s unclear what kind of new AirPods Apple is getting ready to launch. Previous reports referred to the upcoming version as the “AirPods Pro Lite,” suggesting a cheaper price tag for the brand new pair of AirPods with active noise cancelling.
- Pricing and availability details for the rumored new AirPods haven’t leaked yet, and Apple continues to sell three AirPods versions in stores right now.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Apple may have closed all its retail shops outside China, canceled the rumored March press event, and transformed WWDC 2020 into an online-only event, but the company is still expected to unveil new products this month. Powerbeats 4 are now official at $149, marking Apple’s first new release of the month. Apple is also expected to quietly announce a new iPad Pro generation, new MacBooks, as well as new AirPods. Plenty of reports said earlier this year that Apple would soon launch a so-called “AirPods Pro Lite” version of its popular wireless earphones, without providing specifics about the Lite model. Now, a new rumor says that suppliers might be ready to manufacture the brand new AirPods, but the COVID-19 outbreak might affect sales.

Beware: New coronavirus tracking app infects phones with malware
- Hackers are taking advantage of the coronavirus pandemic by releasing dangerous malware disguised as COVID-19 tracking apps.
- Don’t download any unfamiliar Android apps outside of the Google Play store, especially if they’re related to the coronavirus outbreak.
- Microsoft has released an actual COVID-19 tracker that is being updated all the time, so it’s a great tool to use instead of tracking apps from unknown developers.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
As cities, states, and entire countries shut down in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, people all over the world are desperately trying to stay informed and keep themselves and their families safe. Unsurprisingly, apps are popping up left and right to disseminate information and provide helpful tips, but perhaps even less surprisingly, at least one of those apps is loaded with ransomware as hackers attempt to take advantage of the situation.
Late last week, DomainTools reported that a domain was claiming to offer a real-time coronavirus outbreak tracker that Android users could download to their devices outside of the Google Play store. Of course, the truth of the matter was that the app was a scam, and is capable of denying users access to their phones by forcing a password change. This is a fairly common “screen-lock attack,” and the app has been appropriately dubbed CovidLock.

Xbox Series X official specs may confirm a key PS5 feature
- In another surprise announcement, Microsoft released the full specs sheet for the Xbox Series X on Monday, including RAM and storage details.
- Considering the PS5 and new Xbox will share several main specs, it’s likely that Sony will match Microsoft when it comes to SSD capacity.
- That means the PlayStation 5 should ship with 1TB of fast SSD flash memory, and it will likely support expandable storage just like the Series X.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Microsoft on Monday came out swinging with a few significant Xbox announcements. We now have a detailed specs sheet for the new console as well as several demos of the new hardware that show gameplay. Not to mention that Microsoft also provided plenty of new details about the new Xbox controller. For those keeping score at home, the company is several steps ahead of Sony when it comes to new console announcements — Microsoft unveiled the Series X design in mid-December followed by a specs and features blog post a couple of months later, and now all this. While Sony doesn’t seem ready, or willing, to unveil the PlayStation 5 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic — and it’s likely that the company won’t hold a press conference anytime soon — the new Xbox announcement does provide a few insights for a key piece of the PS5 hardware, one that will play a major role in determining its price.

Crazy wireless charger that charges even after you pick up your phone got its first discount
- Wireless chargers are a dime a dozen these days and prices have come way down, so you can get a great charger for less than $10.
- There are indeed plenty of low-cost options out there, but none of them have the brilliant design of the new Pitaka MagEZ Juice Dock-and-Go wireless charger.
- On your desk, it works like a regular wireless charging stand — but the charging element slides out so you can keep charging on the go.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
If all you want is a regular old wireless charger that costs as little as possible, head over to Amazon right now and you’ll find the Letscom 15W Max Fast Wireless Charging Pad on sale for next to nothing. It’ll definitely get the job done and it costs a fraction of what you would pay for a similar wireless charging from a big-name brand. But if you’re looking for something far more versatile with a brilliant design like nothing you’ve seen before, we’ve got a new option for you that you definitely need to check out.
It’s called the Pitaka MagEZ Juice Dock-and-Go wireless charger, and it really is like nothing you’ve ever seen or tried before.
PITAKA Wireless Charging Stand Dock-and-Go Charger [MagEZ Juice] Magnetic Wireless Charging Pow…: $79.00
The MagEZ charging stand works alongside Pitaka’s magnetic MagEZ smartphone cases, so you’ll need to find the right model for your smartphone. Alternatively, you can use any case with a metal plate in the back, and they’re fairly common right now. The metal back sticks to the magnets in the wireless charging stand, and your phone charges like you see in the image at the top of this page. It’s pretty neat to be able to just stick your phone on the stand to charge, but that’s definitely not the best part.
When you need to leave the house before your phone is done charging and you have a normal wireless charging stand, you’re out of luck. With the MagEZ Juice charger, however, the phone is actually connected to a docked portable charger rather than the stand itself! You can slide it right out and it stays connected to your phone using a strong magnet, like you see above. It’s awesome, and it’s available right now on Amazon with its first discount ever.
