2 coronavirus-killing smartphone sanitizers are back in stock on Amazon

  • Unfortunate though it may be, people are finally starting to face the reality that the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is spreading across the United States and at this point, we’re woefully underprepared.
  • The best thing you can do to protect yourself is limit social interactions as much as possible and ensure that you constantly wash your hands and use hand sanitizers like Purell, if available.
  • A huge problem many people don’t realize is that washing your hands is ineffective if you then pick up your germ-covered smartphone — that’s why a UV-C sanitizer box can play a huge roll in helping you avoid the novel coronavirus.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The mood is grim right now across the United States and around the world, and rightfully so. The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is already one of the most severe outbreaks in modern history and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. That’s especially true in the United States, where the outbreak has barely even begun. Some experts believe that nearly all Americans will come in contact with the virus at some point in the coming months, and more than one-third of our entire population could be infected.

Now, it’s only natural to panic in situations like this, but it’s also important to do your best to keep a level head. The fact is that unless you’re elderly or immunocompromised due to a pre-existing condition, you’ll likely only have a mild case of the novel coronavirus even if you do catch it. Most cases are indeed mild. Still, catching it yourself means spreading it to others and that’s how more at-risk people get sick. Everyone must do his or her part to limit the spread as much as possible.

Purell is nearly impossible to come by at this point, Constantly washing your hands is more effective anyway. Amazon still has plenty of hand soap available in stock if your local stores are sold out. In fact, you shouldn’t really even be going to your local stores anymore at this point unless you have no choice, so just order online. But if you wash your hands thoroughly and then pick up a filthy smartphone, you’ve just undone all the precautions you’ve been taking.

Purell and Clorox wipes are both great ways to sanitize your smartphone, but only if you have them on hand since they’re sold out everywhere. Another great option is a smartphone sanitizer that uses UV-C light, and two good options happen to be back in stock right now on Amazon. The first is the HoMedics UV-Clean Portable Sanitizer, which is a nice big case from a company whose products we have tested in the past. It has four UV-C lights and can run through 18 cleaning cycles per charge, so it’s a great option that you can take with you if you have to go out. At the time of this writing, it was in stock and shipping immediately

HoMedics UV-Clean Portable Sanitizer, Black: $99.99

The second option comes from the same company and it’s called the HoMedics UV-Clean Ultra-Slim Phone Sanitizer. I have this one myself and I take it with me whenever I travel. It’s nice and compact but the top pops out and it cleans your phone with UV-C light in 1 minute. I typically do one cycle and then flip the phone for another cycle just to be on the safe side. The only thing you have to remember is that the needs to be zipped closed and the zipper pull needs to be stuck to the little magnetic safety button in order to run the sanitizer. That trips up some people at first.

This ultra-slim model was also in stock at the time of this writing, but shipping estimates already started to slip for one color option so you should definitely order soon.

  • Microsoft’s Build developer conference has been canceled amid coronavirus fears.
  • Microsoft says that a “digital event” will take the place of the in-person event this year.
  • Microsoft is one of many technology companies and groups to cancel a conference in 2020.

At this point, it’s safe to assume that any mass gathering in the United States planned for the first half of 2020 will be postponed, canceled, or modified in light of the coronavirus outbreak. Mobile World Congress, the Game Developers Conference, E3, Coachella, and even the men’s and women’s NCAA college basketball tournaments have all been casualties of the growing concern, and now Microsoft’s biggest annual event has been affected too.

Microsoft announced late this Thursday that its annual Build developer conference has been canceled on account of the pandemic that has gripped the US and the world. The event was initially scheduled to take place from May 19th – May 21st in Seattle, Washington, but Microsoft says that it will shift Build to a “digital event” instead.

Forget AirPods, Anker earbuds with graphene drives are only $49.99

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Head over to Amazon’s website right now, and you’ll find that every different type of AirPods you can buy is currently on sale. Entry-level AirPods 2 are $20 off and AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case are $30 off brand new or $80 off if you pick up a renewed model that’s guaranteed by Amazon. Even Apple’s wildly popular AirPods Pro noise cancelling earbuds are down to the lowest price ever. They’re out of stock, but that has been the case for a long time — order them now to lock in the discount and you’ll find that they ship out within a week or two.

You really can’t go wrong with any of those options. People love AirPods for good reason, after all. Before you spend $120 or more on new Apple earbuds though, there’s another option you really should consider.

Anker Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds are one model out of dozens of different earbuds that Anker makes. In all our testing, however, we’ve found them to be the best value. As with all things Anker, the Soundcore Life P2 buds offer premium quality at a fraction of the price you would pay for a similar pair from a big-name brand. Highlights include graphene drivers, cVc 8.0 noise reduction, IPX7 water-resistance, and up to 40 hours of battery life including the charges you get from the included case. They’re a steal at $60, but an on-site coupon on Amazon right now slashes that down to just $49.99.

Here are some bullet points from Amazon’s product page:

  • Crystal-Clear Calls: 4 microphones with the latest cVc noise reduction technology highlight your voice while reducing background sounds.
  • Expertly Tuned Sound: Graphene drivers produce a wider soundstage with exceptional accuracy and clarity.
  • BassUp Technology: Exclusive technology conducts real-time analysis and enhancement of your audio’s bass frequencies to add powerful sonic punch.
  • aptX Technology: Your music is transferred at the highest possible quality to preserve the sound and give you an exceptional listening experience with CD-like audio quality.
  • Up to 40 Hours of Playtime: 7 hours of playtime on a single charge, 40 hours with the charging case.
  • Waterproof Casing: Life P2’s IPX7-rated protection defends your earbuds against liquids. The included charging case has IPX3-rated protection.
  • One-Step Pairing: Life P2 true wireless earbuds automatically connect with the last paired device.
  • Comfortable Fit: Select from a range of ear tips in multiple sizes.
  • Bluetooth 5: An ultra-stable connection for skip-free streaming.

Sony just revealed a huge PS5 detail and we nearly missed it

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Sony hasn’t revealed anything new about the PlayStation 5 in several months, even though Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Series X design and main specs via two separate surprise announcements.
  • But Sony’s Head of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios did address a key detail about the upcoming console: PS5 games.
  • Hermen Hulst said that Sony is committed to “strong narrative-driven, single-player games.” And it’s single-player games that will make the PS5’s hardware capabilities truly shine.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The eyes of the gaming world are all on Sony and Microsoft right now, as the companies prepare to release two of the most important gadgets of the year. We’re talking about the PS5 and Xbox Series X, of course, which will hit stores this fall no matter what happens with the novel coronavirus pandemic. There are worries about stock shortages at launch since the outbreak might still impact production, but the consoles should reach stores this holiday season.

At this point, Sony is losing the console launch war with Microsoft because the latter is a couple of steps ahead when it comes to announcements. Microsoft showed the Series X design in December and followed up in mid-February with an almost complete set of specs and features. Sony, meanwhile, has been quiet on both fronts. We have no idea what the PS5 will look like and the console’s official specs are also missing in action. But Sony did just reveal a considerable detail about the PS5, and we nearly missed it.

How to sanitize your filthy smartphone to kill coronavirus

  • You can easily clean your phone using common sanitizing products.
  • Use a CDC-approved cleaner, but avoid bleach and heavy-duty chemicals.
  • Clean your phone and phone case separately.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Sanitizing your smartphone doesn’t have to be complicated. Combining cleaning agents (especially sprays) with electronics can seem like a bad idea, but as the world reacts to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important to know how to keep your smartphone free of the virus and anything else that could make you or someone else sick.

You touch your phone countless times each day, and with what we know about how the coronavirus COVID-19 spreads — it can live on surfaces for many hours — your phone could become an easy avenue for the virus to infect you. The good news is that there are a ton of readily-available cleaning products that are known to kill the virus, and applying them to your phone is relatively straightforward.

Friends will never be back on Netflix – save $15 on the DVDs or $130 off the Blu-ray box set

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • More than 25 years after the sitcom first premiered in 1994, Friends is still one of the most popular television shows people are watching right now.
  • The entire series of Friends had been available to stream on Netflix, but the platform’s license to stream the series expired a few months ago on January 1, 2020.
  • Friends will soon be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max following the service’s launch, but fans of the show might want to take advantage of Amazon’s deep discounts on the complete series box set instead.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It has been 26 years since Friends first aired on NBC on September 22, 1994. Can you believe that? Twenty-six years! Rachel Green fled her wedding and ran into childhood friend Monica Green before taking a job as a coffee house waitress at “Central Perk,” and the rest, as they say, is history. The show lasted an impressive 10 seasons before wrapping up in May of 2004, and it was one of the most popular shows on TV back then. Incredibly, it’s still one of the most popular shows all these years later in 2020.

For years, all 10 seasons of Friends was available to stream on Netflix and the series was among the most popular content on the platform the entire time it was there. Unfortunately for Netflix subscribers, the company lost its rights to the show and it disappeared from Netflix’s catalog on January 1, 2020.

Where did Friends go, you ask? Well, it didn’t really go anywhere. For the time being, Friends isn’t available to be streamed legally on any streaming media platform. It’s a bummer, but that’s how things will be until later this year when HBO Max launches. The new HBO service will be the exclusive streaming home to the series moving forward, which means you can’t legally stream Friends anytime in the foreseeable future unless you plan to cough up $15 a month for HBO Max once it launches. Lucky for you, you won’t need to stream the show anymore before you’re about to save a ton of money on the DVDs or Blu-rays!

Amazon is running a great sale right now on both Friends: The Complete Series on DVD and Friends: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. The former retails for $70 but is on sale for just $54.99 right now, and the latter has a sky-high retail price of $190 but has a massive $130 discount today. That slashes the price to just $59.99, which is an absolute steal. Definitely don’t miss this deal.

Stunning iPhone 12 design video shows Apple’s new leaked color

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple’s iPhone 12 will feature a major redesign, marking the first time in three years that Apple will release a new iPhone model with an updated design.
  • Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models Apple releases in 2020 will feature a new look with flat metal edges reminiscent of the iPhone 5’s beloved design.
  • The higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are expected to be made available in a totally new color that leaked recently, and now a new video imagines Apple’s upcoming new iPhone 12 Pro in the stunning new color.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

When it comes to Apple’s iPhone 12 release and its iPhone 9 release that was expected in the coming weeks, everything seems to be up in the air right now. A report just yesterday suggested that Apple will completely cancel its iPhone 9 release next month not because of manufacturing issues, but because the company doesn’t want to encourage people to gather en masse at its stores in light of the novel coronavirus outbreak. As a reminder, the iPhone 9 is also referred to as “iPhone SE 2,” and it’s expected to be a lower-cost iPhone starting at $399 that uses the iPhone 8’s design with updated specs in line with the iPhone 11.

As far as Apple’s new flagship iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are concerned, things are even more unclear right now. Numerous reports suggest that the COVID-19 outbreak will force Apple to delay its iPhone 12 release until October or possibly November, though the company still might announce the phones in September. That doesn’t sound too terrible, but there’s one slight problem: many experts believe that the coronavirus outbreak will continue to get worse and worse in the coming months. If it does, there’s no telling what might happen to Apple’s plans for the iPhone 12. As of Thursday morning, there are more than 120,000 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus and the spread isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon. Regardless of when Apple finally releases its iPhone 12 lineup, however, we already know plenty about the new design and features thanks to numerous leaks from reliable sources. Now, a new video helps visualize everything we’ve heard, and it also shows Apple’s new iPhone 12 Pro in the stunning new color that leaked earlier this year.

Coronavirus prep 101: 5 essentials you should stock up on while you still can

  • Coronavirus panic reached new heights this week as people around the world watch the crisis unfold in Italy.
  • Despite repeated warnings from experts, many people still think the panic is overblown and they’re not taking proper precautions, which is expected to speed the spread of COVID-19.
  • That leads to even more panic among people who do recognize the need to prepare themselves, which means they’re overbuying many products like hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in order to stockpile them. Now, other people are forced to take additional measure in order to ensure they have essential products on hand

At this point, there’s really no question whatsoever that the novel coronavirus will begin to spread uncontrollably in the United States. The COVID-19 outbreak that began in Wuhan, China continues to show up in more and more regions around the country, and it’s not just people in big cities who need to worry. In fact, it seems like new confirmed cases are popping up in suburban areas just as quickly as they are in big cities.

Now, there’s no question that people are going overboard by rushing out to their local grocery stores and picking the shelves dry of things like toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and even common over-the-counter medications.

There are two reasons you should try to stock up on certain things right now, and people’s tendency to panic and overbuy as mentioned above is one of them. Simply put, common household items might not be there when you need them because so many local stores are having trouble keeping them in stock. There’s another reason too, though: things are going to get worse before they get better. COVID-19 coronavirus will continue to spread, and the more you stock up on now, the less you’ll have to go out for later.

With that in mind, there are a few things you should think about loading up on now, while you still can. And the very first thing on the list is hand soap, and dozens of popular options are still available to purchase on Amazon. Purell is going to be impossible to come by for a long time and besides, hand soap and warm water work better anyway. Just make sure you wash your hands thoroughly (sing Happy Birthday in your head twice if you’re wondering how long you should continue to scrub) and remember to just buy normal hand soap, not antibacterial soap.

Popular Hand Soaps On Amazon: $0.99+

Next up, make sure you load up on bottled water. We’re not on the verge of a zombie apocalypse and sewage systems aren’t going to collapse. Still, no one wants to drink tap water and bottled water is always among the first things to sell out when people start to really panic. And let’s not forget that lugging all those bottles home from the supermarket is a pain in the butt! Pick up a bunch on Amazon instead, where you’ll find lower prices anyway.

Popular Bottled Water On Amazon: $2.48+

Anything and everything with bleach in it is going to sell out too, and bleach cleaners are already very difficult to come by in many regions around the US. You might as well grab some laundry detergent and dish soap while you’re at it.

Popular Bleach Products On Amazon: $7.75+

Next up, and we can’t stress this one enough, you should really think about stocking up and any and all medicines and health care products you might need. Get an extra 30-day supply of any prescription medications you might take, and you can take care of everything else on Amazon, like Advil, Tylenol, Nyquil, Dayquil, antacids, and more. The last thing you want is to be sick with something unrelated to COVID-19 and not have the medicine you need.

Popular Health Care Products On Amazon: $3.97+

Last but certainly not least, keep your eye on Amazon’s toilet paper page. Things are coming back into stock constantly and if you go out right now, you’ll find that toilet paper isn’t easy to come by. Definitely stock up on TP while you still can.

Popular Toilet Paper On Amazon: $5.28+

The Galaxy S20 phones sport amazing specs, especially the Ultra version, which features up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. But they’re also a lot more expensive than expected. They’re all 5G devices, which is one reason why the cheapest Galaxy S20 costs $999. But plenty of Samsung competitors are ready to launch Galaxy S20 rivals that sport almost the same specs, 5G support included, and much better prices. The latest such device is a gaming phone that you may have a hard time finding in stores.
