Despite the cable industry’s denial, cord cutting is only getting more popular
It used to be that cable companies could brush off the tiny minority of TV viewers who watched shows primarily over the Internet as a myth. However, The Washington Post reports on some new data from Nielsen that shows TV studios and cable companies have to start seeing cord cutting as a legitimate trend that is set to accelerate in the coming years.

Jony Ive insisted on making a $10,000 Apple Watch over objections from others at Apple
The idea of paying $10,000 for an Apple Watch Edition is ridiculous to most people… but don’t tell that to Jony Ive. Via Fusion, last month’s big New Yorker profile of Ive revealed that he was the force within the company who really pushed to have Apple release a luxury watch that would only appeal to the sort of people who show up to the Davos World Economic Forum every year.

Apple Watch knockoffs for $40 are already for sale in China
The Apple Watch hasn’t even been released yet but that hasn’t stopped Chinese manufacturers from flooding the market with cheap knockoffs. The knockoff industry has gotten quite advanced over the years, and a few of Apple Watch knockoffs we’ve seen thus far bear a remarkable similarity to the real thing.
As one would expect, the Apple Watch knockoffs we’ve seen are much cheaper than what one would otherwise pay in an Apple retail store, to the tune of about $40 in some cases.

HBO Now is already getting competition from Showtime
That didn’t take long.
Deadline reports that CBS CEO Les Moonves announced at an investors conference on Wednesday that Showtime is also preparing a paid streaming service its premium network to launch in the “not-too-distant future.”

Can a cheaper Apple TV hold off Google’s Chromecast?
Apple might be losing its grip on this living room. That’s not to say it ever had a stranglehold over our television sets, but when the Apple TV launched, there wasn’t much else like it. Now every vendor on the planet is selling a set-top box or a dongle with the same functionality, often at a cheaper price point.

Are even better versions of the Apple Watch coming later this year?
If you aren’t impressed with the aluminum, stainless steel or gold options with the Apple Watch, then you might want to wait a few more months before buying one. 9to5Mac flags an interesting detail in the latest research note from KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, who says that Apple is working with three new kinds of casing materials for the Apple Watch that it could release in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Samsung spends more money on marketing and advertising than any of its competitors, and that includes Apple. In fact, it’s not even close — the company’s budget is in the double-digit billions, which actually tops many of the Samsung’s rivals’ annual revenue.
