The most expensive Apple Watch is going to make Apple all the money

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple’s Watch production for the first quarter of this year is on track for 5 million units. Of that 5 million, half are expected to be the less expensive Apple Watch Sport which starts at $350, and one third are the stainless steel watch, which could sell for $500-$750, most likely. That leaves about 850,000 Apple Watch Edition pieces, the more expensive gold model. I believe the watch will sell for around $3,000 or less, though let’s assume it sells for $4,000 as The Wall Street Journal is hearing, for the purpose of this exercise. Let’s also assume a 35% margin on each Apple Watch model on average (conservative), and including extra bands, an average selling price of $400, $650, and $4200 for the Apple Watch Sport, stainless, and Edition models respectively, and also conservative.

While the idea of permanently leaving the Earth behind to take a one-way trip to Mars doesn’t appeal to a lot of us, thousands of people have nonetheless applied to be on Mars One’s first-ever mission to the red planet. Mars One, a Dutch nonprofit group that plans on sending people to Mars starting in 2024, has announced its 100 finalists for its pilot program. Eventually, the group will select 24 people who will travel in groups of six on four separate trips to Mars in the hopes of starting a colony there.

Further proving that Apple’s iOS devices are dependable tools for movie-making is Modern Family‘s latest gimmick: An entire episode was shot using almost only the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2, The New York Times reports. That’s the sort of free publicity that Samsung’s billions can’t always get.

Galaxy S6’s killer features teased in new Samsung video

In recent days, the company published a special post on its blog hinting at the Galaxy S6’s amazing camera, and releasing a matching video on Twitter teasing the same component.

Furthering its Galaxy S6 marketing march, Samsung on Tuesday detailed its wireless charging advancements in a blog post, suggesting the Galaxy S6 and other Galaxies will get the feature this year. The company has now published a second video teaser on Twitter that’s all about the phone’s power, but also about battery life.
