Ancient humans saw an asteroid apocalypse first-hand
- An asteroid or comet completely wiped out the ancient human settlement of Abu Hureyra.
- The impact is likely part of a larger cosmic impact event that triggered the rapid cooling of Earth.
- The research was published in the Nature journal Scientific Reports.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Science fiction disaster flicks have “taught” us that if the asteroid apocalypse comes raining down from above, it will result in utter devastation from which humanity may never recover. For now, we can rest easy knowing that space agencies around the world are constantly on the lookout for dangerous space rocks, but ancient humans didn’t have that same luxury.
One particularly unlucky group of our nomadic ancestors watched, thousands of years ago, as their homes and way of life were wiped out by an asteroid fragment that, to them, would have seemed to come out of absolutely nowhere.

All it takes is $40 to speed up your internet and eliminate buffering forever
You finally get home after a long day of work. Maybe you grab a quick bite to eat, or maybe you skip the food and pour yourself a drink. You plop yourself down on the couch, turn on the TV, and get ready to stream the next episode of your new favorite show that you’ve been waiting all day to see. You settle in as the show begins, and you can’t believe what’s about to happen. Then, all of a sudden, facepalm: The image starts to get all pixelated or even freezes completely as your TV, set-top box, or console struggles to download the video.
It’s so very aggravating, and it happens all the time. What you might not realize, however, is that there’s such an easy way for most people to fix this irksome issue.
A lot of the time, your Wi-Fi connection is the main source of the problem. Sometimes there’s interference, or if you live in a big household it could be a congestion problem. Sometimes it’s an issue with range, and you can get away with a cheap fix by picking up a Wi-Fi range extender. The best-selling TP-Link model on Amazon is on sale right now for just $15.99, or the newer version that’s more than twice as fast can be had for just $24.99. Both of those are about $1 away from all-time low prices.
TP-Link | N300 WiFi Range Extender | Up to 300Mbps | WiFi Extender, Repeater, Wifi Signal Boost…: $15.99
TP-Link AC750 WiFi Range Extender | Covers Up to 1200 Sq.ft and 32 Devices | Dual Band WiFi Rep…: $24.99
If you want an even better fix to the problem, you need to ditch wireless on your device and switch to a wired internet connection. Of course, no one wants to spend hundreds of dollars installing Ethernet, and we would never suggest that. Why bother when you can instantly transform any regular old power outlet into an Ethernet port in about 2 seconds?
Head over to Amazon and check out the TP-Link AV1000 Powerline Ethernet Adapter. It really couldn’t be any simpler. Just plug one box into a power outlet near your router and the other box into an outlet near your TV or computer. Connect to each box separately using a regular old Ethernet cable, and presto! You’ve got yourself a gigabit Ethernet connection that you just installed yourself in seconds. What’s more, this awesome top-rated powerline kit is on sale right now on Amazon for only $39.99.
TP-Link AV1000 Powerline Ethernet Adapter – Gigabit Port, Plug&Play, Power Saving(TL-PA7010 KIT…: $39.99
Check out this review from Amazon to get an idea of what you can look forward to when you get one:
Works well. I have a PS4 Pro and the wifi connection is terrible. It’s sad that Sony is actually aware of this & their only advice is to get a hardline into it. My router is in a different room & it can’t be moved. It wasn’t even that far away. My Apple TV and phone had no problem connecting to it in the living room.
Anyways, I got this because I use Playstation Vue for television as well as the usual streaming services like Netflix and games. I would constantly get kicked off the network & it was becoming unbearable, like literally every hour it would go down or start running super slow. I did some searching on the internet and found that unfortunately, I wasn’t the only person with this problem on their PS4. I got this upon the positive reviews from other PS4 owners.
Set up was super simple. Took all of 30 seconds. The connection has been great so far. My internet speed is 60 down and with this when I tested the network on the PS4 it came in at 40, which is way more acceptable than the 15mb/s download I was getting prior with the PS4 wifi. Some of the reviews here on Amazon say after a few months they start to suck, so I guess we’ll see. Thus far though it has been great and I haven’t dropped my network connection nor has it slowed to a crawl either. I would definitely recommend these for people who are having the same issue I am and can’t move their router.
That’s just one example of an endless number of people who have eliminated the annoyances of Wi-Fi without spending a ton of money to have Ethernet installed in their homes. What are you waiting for?!

iPhone 9 launch event supposedly canceled over coronavirus concerns
- Apple’s iPhone 9 (iPhone SE 2) is one of the most highly anticipated products of the first half of the year, a device rumored to cost $399 and have the same powerful A-series chip as the iPhone 11.
- Apple was rumored to be planning to unveil the iPhone 9 and other new products during a media event in March, which is now said to be canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
- The good news is that Apple will supposedly unveil new products this month even without a proper press conference, though release timing is now unclear.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Apple had planned a March media event for the iPhone 9, several reports said in the past few months, but mounting coronavirus fears may have convinced the company to cancel the press conference. That’s not to say that the new affordable iPhone will be tabled alongside other rumored Apple products. But Apple may do everything via regular press releases just like it does with lower-profile products instead of hosting an event.

Netflix movies list: All 62 new movies coming to Netflix in March 2020
- Netflix has a busy month planned in March, with 62 different movies set to be released over the course of the month.
- Subscribers will be able to enjoy a good mix between Netflix original films and movies from other studios that Netflix has licensed for its content catalog.
- The highest-profile Netflix movie release of the months is Spencer Confidential, an action movie starring Mark Wahlberg. It will be Wahlberg’s first time starring in original Netflix content.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
We spend a lot of time talking about the new original series that come to Netflix each month because, well, Netflix has some of the best original series of any network right now. On top of quality, Netflix also releases new shows at a crazy pace that eclipses every other studio. There are dozens of new Netflix original series and new seasons of returning shows set to premiere in March 2020 alone, including the return of several high-profile shows like Castlevania season 3 today, Paradise PD part 2 tomorrow, Elite season 3 and Kingdom season 2 on March 13th, and Ozark season 3 on March 27th. This all comes after a busy February that included a new season of Altered Carbon and the new breakout hit show I Am Not Okay With This.
Of course, Netflix is about much more than just TV shows. The platform also adds plenty of new movies from third-party studios each month. On top of that, Netflix makes its own movies, documentaries, and comedy specials that are released regularly. In fact, Netflix movies racked up 24 Oscar nominations this year and two wins, including Laura Dern’s Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar for her performance in Marriage Story, and American Factory’s Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. Marriage Story and Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman racked up plenty of noms, and they might have won in several top categories if not for Parasite’s sweeping success.
Over the course of March 2020, Netflix is adding 62 movies to its content catalog, including both original films and popular movies from other studios that are being licensed to stream on Netflix. From classics like The Shawshank Redemption and fan-favorites like There Will Be Blood to high-profile original releases like Spencer Confidential starring Mark Wahlberg, March is packed from start to finish with new movie releases. You’ll find the entire list of new movies coming to Netflix in March 2020 below.

Make your AirPods sound so much better with this $14 accessory
- Apple’s AirPods 2 are the most popular true wireless earbuds on the market right now, and they’re also discounted on Amazon.
- People love them, but there’s also a feature of the design that not everyone is a fan of: They don’t have silicone tips, so they don’t isolate sound.
- That means sound quality suffers because certain frequencies, mostly bass, “leak” out of your ear. EarBuddyz Ultra AirPods Covers on Amazon fix the issue, and they only cost $14.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
All of Apple’s different AirPods models are discounted right now, from the entry-level AirPods 2 and AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case to the top-of-the-line AirPods Pro noise cancelling earphones that everyone goes crazy over right now. In fact, AirPods Pro are on sale at the same all-time low price that Amazon was charging on Black Friday. Even at a discount though, you’ll still have to pay almost double for the Pro model.
The added cost is fine if you can afford it and if you need active noise cancelling in your earbuds. If you don’t you’ll probably want to go for the regular AirPods instead, but there’s something you may need to address. AirPods are made out of smooth white plastic that looks cool, but they don’t have silicone tips. That means they don’t lock sound into your ear, so a lot of it leaks out — especially bass. If you want to fix the problem though, you don’t need the silicone tips on AirPods Pro earphones. Just pick up a pair of EarBuddyz Ultra Silicone AirPods Covers on Amazon for $14. Pop them on your AirPods anytime you want to lock in the sound and bump up the bass, and you’re good to go!
EarBuddyz Ultra Ear Hooks and Covers Compatible with Apple AirPods 1 & AirPods 2 or EarPods Fea…: $13.95
Here’s a review from Amazon to give you an idea of how well they work:
These came yesterday and I had to immediately try them out.
They are a silicone sleeve that fits over each AirPod with a “tail-like protrusion” that helps secure them to the ear. Very easy to slip on, as they do stretch a bit. I now feel so much less anxious and concerned about losing an AirPod, which would be expensive. This is their intent. Additionally, the sound quality is so much better with the EarBuddyz. The bass is more enhanced and the outside ambient noise is reduced. You get two pair along with a little mesh bag with a hook which can be attached to your belt, pocketbook, etc. The only con that I have about them is that they must be removed when charging the AirPods, as they will not fit in the charging case. This only takes five minutes to remove them, so it’s really not an issue. I strongly recommend these.

PS5 specs might’ve finally just leaked
- Sony’s PlayStation 5 still lacks a full specs sheet, as the company is yet to announce specific details about the console’s hardware.
- The PS5 is expected to at least match the Xbox Series X official specs, as both consoles will share similar custom CPU and GPU chips made by AMD, as well as next-gen SSDs with big speed boosts.
- A rumor circulating online may have leaked Sony’s PS5 specs, teasing the formidable performance of the console.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
It’s the second week of March and Sony still hasn’t announced anything about the new PlayStation 5, aside from all the vague announcements the company made last year. Yes, we know what kind of CPU and GPU to expect from the PS5, we know it’ll have a super-fast SSD, and that the new DualShock 5 controller is getting much better feedback than before. But the console’s most important features are still secret, as Sony said after CES a couple of months ago. The design is also missing-in-action, even though Microsoft revealed its Xbox Series X design some three months ago.
If it weren’t for the coronavirus, we’d have no reason to grow anxious about this particular Sony announcement. But the coronavirus spread is the most important thing happening in the world right now, and it could have a huge impact on the PS5 launch as well. Sony canceled three gaming events so far, two because of the outbreak (PAX East and GDC) and one well before the world started worrying about the virus’s spread (E3). It’s currently unclear when or where Sony will be able to hold a proper PS5 launch event. Meanwhile, Microsoft a few weeks ago released almost a full spec sheet for the new Xbox, keeping just one key detail secret. That hasn’t stopped the PS5 leaks from popping up online, and the latest one teases insane specs for the PS5.

Huge iOS 14 leak reveals unreleased Apple headphones never seen before
With March already in full swing, we’re just starting to see a slight uptick in iOS 14 rumors leak out. To this point, 9to5Mac recently unearthed two new icons which could very well depict a new pair of high-end over the ear headphones that, rumor has it, will incorporate a number of AirPods features.
The new icons don’t provide us with a whole a lot of information, but they do seem to corroborate previous reports regarding the rumored product. Recall, reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as far back as 2018 published an investor note claiming that Apple engineers have been hard at work developing a new pair of advanced headphones that, from what we can gather, will exist independently of the Beats brand.

Apple’s newest iPads are up to $70 off at Amazon if you hurry
- Apple’s lineup of iPad tablets consists of the fastest, sleekest, and most powerful tablets in the world right now — but the best comes at a price.
- The 10.2-inch iPad model is Apple’s latest and greatest iPad, and it normally starts at $329.
- Amazon is running a terrific sale today that slashes the price of the 32GB iPad model from $329 to $279, and the 128GB iPad gets an even bigger $70 discount.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Pretty much everyone out there knows that when it comes to tablets these days, there’s the iPad and then there’s everything else. In fact, even Android fans often admit that there’s nothing else out there quite like an iPad. Apple’s lineup of sleek metal slates offer speed and performance that are unmatched among tablets from Samsung and other Android device makers. That’s likely why the most popular Android tablets out there are Amazon’s various Fire tablet models. Why? Because Amazon recognized that no one can compete with Apple’s iPads on performance, so Fire tablets undercut iPads with rock-bottom prices — especially when Amazon has sales going. For example, the excellent Fire HD 8 Tablet costs $80, but you can save $50 right now when you buy two of them. That cuts the per-tablet price to just $55!
Fire HD 8 Tablet (8″ HD Display, 16 GB) – Black: Buy 2, Save $50
That’s a killer deal indeed, but there’s no question that the Fire HD 8 is no match for an iPad. And if you’re looking for the kind of user experience that an iPad provides, Amazon’s tablet simply isn’t going to cut it. Lucky for you, Amazon is also hosting a great sale on iPads today that slashes up to $70 off the newest iPad Apple makes.
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 32GB) – Space Gray (Latest Model): $279.00
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 128GB) – Space Gray (Latest Model): $359.99
The 7th-generation iPad tablet is the perfect compromise between performance and price. It uses Apple’s powerful A10 Fusion chipset to provide the silky smooth mobile experience that users have come to expect from Apple’s iPads and iPhones, and the battery life is fantastic. Apple says it provides up to 10 hours of usage on a charge, but that’s constant usage. If you use your iPad for a couple of hours per day, it can easily go several days before you’ll need to charge it up again.
Apple’s 10.2-inch iPad starts at $329 for the 32GB model, and that’s exactly how much you’ll pay if you buy one right now from Apple. If you head over to Amazon instead, however, you’ll find it on sale for just $279. If you need more space, it turns out that you’re in luck because you’ll find an even deeper discount on the 128GB 10.2-inch iPad. It normally sells for $429, but it has a $70 discount right now at Amazon that cuts the price to $359.99.
