One important area where top Android phones crush the iPhone 6
The iPhone 6 is a spectacular smartphone. I reviewed the iPhone 6 earlier this year and while there are a few things that could certainly be improved, I said that the phone was clearly one of the best smartphones in the world. And it still is. From handset design and build quality to performance and the supporting third-party app ecosystem, the iPhone 6 is a class leader in almost every key area.
Of course, there are still some areas where Apple’s iPhones need improvement, and the company can certainly take a lesson from several top Android phone makers when it comes to one very important area in particular.

Google Fiber’s latest FCC filing is Comcast’s nightmare come to life
What’s every incumbent ISP’s worst nightmare? If we had to guess, it looks something like the filing that Google just made with the Federal Communications Commission. As The Wall Street Journal reports, Google this week told the FCC that reclassifying broadband providers under Title II of the Telecommunications Act would have a big side benefit for Google Fiber because it would give Google Fiber the same access to utility poles and other key infrastructure currently enjoyed by Comcast, AT&T and other big-name ISPs.

One of the hackers allegedly behind the PSN and Xbox Live attacks has been arrested
For millions of gamers around the world, Christmas was ruined last week when hackers from a group called “Lizard Squad” crippled the online gaming networks tied to Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The attacks rendered the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live completely unusable by hammering them with Internet traffic in an attack called a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack.
The hackers behind the attacks bragged about them online and even on the news, but all of that arrogance may have come at a price for at least one alleged Lizard Squad member, who has reportedly been arrested.

Motorola celebrates the New Year with a new, even better version of the Moto X
Motorola has quietly made a new version of the Moto X available to buyers interested in getting one of the best Android handsets of 2014. In addition to the existing 16GB and 32GB models of the unlocked Moto X Pure Edition, which might not be suitable for some users when it comes to available built-in storage, Motorola is also now selling a 64GB model, which happens to exclusively available on its website.

One of the most important features of Google’s newly released Android 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system is the new design language called Material Design. Basically, Google came up with a series of design guidelines for Lollipop that developers can also use for their Android apps, and Google wants to see Material Design employed on the web and other platforms as well.
