What?! Now AirPods Pro and AirPods 2 are both at all-time low prices on Amazon
Apple’s AirPods and AirPods Pro earphones are so popular right now that they basically sell themselves. I live outside of New York City in Northern New Jersey and I don’t think I can walk more than five minutes in any direction without seeing at least one or two people with AirPods sticking out of their ears. Remember when AirPods were first released and people laughed at how silly people would look with those little stems sticking out of their ears? Remember when we said people would get used to them in no time at all and they would just become the new norm? Well, here we are.
If you don’t yet have AirPods or if you have an older model that’s due for an upgrade, this week has provided several great times to pull the trigger. Amazon has been running a bunch of on-again, off-again sales with all-time low prices on entry-level AirPods 2 as well as AirPods Pro, the latter of which almost never goes on sale. The thing about the sales this time around, however, is that they weren’t popping up at the same time. One day AirPods 2 would be on sale, and then the next day AirPods Pro would see a price drop.
Apple AirPods Pro: $234.98
Today, for the first time in a long time, AirPods Pro and AirPods 2 are both on sale at their lowest prices ever on Amazon. AirPods Pro are Apple’s priciest headphones, which makes sense since their the company’s only true wireless earbuds that include active noise cancelling technology. There aren’t even any Beats earbuds with ANC at this point. They offer fantastic sound quality, great ANC, good battery life, and fast charging that’s nice and convenient thanks to the included charging case. Today, they’re on sale at their all-time low price from Black Friday.
Apple AirPods with Charging Case (Latest Model): $129.98
Even on sale at their lowest price, AirPods Pro are still a bit too expensive for many people. That’s why it’s so great that Amazon also slashed regular AirPods 2 down to the lowest price. The second-generation model takes everything that was great about Apple’s original AirPods and adds improved battery life as well as “Hey Siri” support. They’ll cost you $159 if you order them right now from Apple, but on Amazon, they’re down to just $129.98 today. The AirPods 2 version that includes a wireless charging case is also on sale right now for $169 instead of $199. That’s not an all-time low, but it’s close and it’s still a terrific price.
Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging Case (Latest Model): $169.00

Best smart thermostat deals: Nest for $140, or save $42 on a crazy futuristic model
Whether or not you have any interest whatsoever in the whole “smart home” thing, there are a few types of devices that you should absolutely have. We’re not talking about complex gadgets with crazy sensors you need a Ph.D. to figure out. We’re talking about simple, no-brainer purchases that make your life better with minimal effort. An Alexa smart speaker like the Echo Dot is on the list, of course, as is a smart plug (these Wi-Fi smart plugs are on sale for just $6.75 each). At the very tippy-top of the list, however, is a smart thermostat — and today is the day you’re finally going to get one.
If you’re not too familiar with smart thermostats and you’re wondering what makes a smart thermostat like a Nest a must-have, we can sum it up for you in four words: it saves you money. By using smart programming that adjusts and adapts instead of static schedules each day, a smart thermostat can dramatically cut down the amount of time your heating and cooling systems are on. Needless to say, the less they’re on, the lower your energy bill is going to be. As an added bonus, you’re also using fewer resources like electricity and gas, which helps the environment.
There are three smart thermostat deals in particular that we’re going to focus on today, mainly because they’re among the best smart thermostat deals we’ve seen so far this year.
First up, our favorite and most affordable smart thermostat is down to the lowest price we’ve seen in months. It’s the Nest Thermostat E, which retails for $200 but is down to just $140 right now. It’s a lower-cost version of the Nest Learning Thermostat, but the great thing about it is the fact that it has all of the same core features as the pricier model. The big difference is the housing and the display, which is sleek frosted glass instead of the OLED screen on the Learning Thermostat. The smart features are all the same though, making this the smartest and most affordable smart thermostat there is.
Nest AMZE2NESTHERMOSTE Thermostat, White: $140.13
Next up, the $250 Nest Learning Thermostat is on sale today on Amazon for around $212. There’s no question that it has a much more premium look and feel than the Thermostat E, which is why it costs so much more. Like we said, the smart features are all the same. If you don’t mind spending the extra cash though, this stylish smart thermostat is definitely worth the upgrade.
Google, T3007ES, Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen, Smart Thermostat, Stainless Steel, Works Wi…: $209.48
Last but certainly not least, we have the craziest smart thermostat design we’ve ever come across. The GLAS Smart Thermostat by Johnson Controls certainly isn’t as popular as either Nest model, but it packs all the smart features you need as well as app and voice control. The main attraction here is the design and style, though. There’s a base that attaches to the wall, and the rest of it is a transparent touchscreen display! It’s incredible, and it’s more than $42 off today at Amazon.
GLAS Smart Thermostat by Johnson Controls, Translucent OLED Touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Mobile App, Wor…: $206.82

Yesterday’s iPhone 12 specs leak was huge – let’s talk about the secrets it revealed
- Apple’s iPhone 12 update will feature the company’s first big iPhone design overhaul in years, leaks have revealed.
- The upcoming new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro series phones are expected to be the company’s biggest release ever, with annual sales that experts believe could set an all-time record.
- A new leak from a source with a proven track record suggests that Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro phones will be even bigger upgrades than we expected, featuring a new 64-megapixel camera and more exciting updates.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
We still have about 6 months left to wait before Apple finally takes the wraps off its new iPhone 12 lineup, but eager Apple fans are never willing to wait that long. Details about Apple’s next-generation iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro flagship phones first began leaking last year, even before the current-generation iPhone 11 series was released. Early information came from TF International Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, as it always does, and he revealed a series of exciting firsts for Apple over the course of a few months.
The iPhone 12 will reportedly feature Apple’s first big design overhaul in three years, ever since the company first debuted the iPhone X. It will still have a notch on the front and a large square camera array on the back, but the glass front and back will feature a new midframe with flat metal edges instead of the round ones we’ve seen on every flagship iPhone model since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released in 2014. They’ll also be Apple’s first 5G phones, which is seen as a crucial addition now that 5G networks are beginning to expand in numerous key smartphone markets. All of that is somewhat old news at this point, but a big new iPhone 12 leak emerged yesterday from a reputable source, and it was packed full of exciting new details that deserve a deeper dive.

Last chance to get the wild camera that lets your iPhone or Android see anywhere for $29
Earlier this week, we told you about a mistake someone made over at Amazon that extended a great sale longer than it should have. It was a deal on the Depstech WF010 Wireless Borescope Inspection Camera, which happens to be one of the most popular smartphone accessories we’ve ever covered. It normally sells for $36 and it’s a steal at that price, but a coupon you can clip on Amazon cuts it down to just $28.79, which is crazy.
Today, we’ve got two pieces of excellent news. First, it turns out they have decided to keep the sale going until the end of the weekend, so you still have time to get in on the action if you’re not among the hundreds of readers who bought one earlier this week. And second, there’s now another deal going on the upgraded version that drops it to its lowest price ever!
If you’re not familiar with this type of product, it’s basically a camera at the end of a long, semi-rigid tube. You can shape it however you want and then snake it into tight spaces that you would otherwise never be able to see into. It beams the image back to your smartphone wirelessly and you can capture video or still photos if you’d like. Then there are also some attachments like a mirror to see around corners as well as a magnet and a hook for retrieving lost jewelry or keys.
The Depstech WF010 Wireless Borescope Inspection Camera is the best-selling model that our readers love so much, and it’s still down to $28.79 if you hurry. Or, if you want a big upgrade with a 5-megapixel camera instead of 2 megapixels, a longer 16.5-foot cable instead of 11.5 feet, and even the ability to zoom, you can pick up the Depstech WF060 Wireless Borescope Inspection Camera right now for $49.49 instead of $66, which is a big 25% discount that drops it to its lowest price yet.

Forget the PS5, Microsoft might soon unveil the cheap new Xbox
Microsoft is already two steps ahead of Sony when it comes to new console announcements, and the latter is yet to respond in any way. Microsoft hijacked the Game Awards in December when it revealed the name of the new Xbox and showed the final design of the Series X console. Then, a few weeks ago, Microsoft announced nearly every hardware detail for the console, unveiling a few exciting Series X features in the process. Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event is still missing in action, and the coronavirus epidemic is undoubtedly making it hard for Sony to host a proper press event. After all, Sony pulled out of three shows so far, including MWC, PAX East, and GDC, and announced it won’t be present at E3 even before it became clear the COVID-19 spread will be a problem. But forget about Sony for a second, as there’s a new Xbox rumor in town. Microsoft might soon unveil the cheap Xbox Series X version, and the model many people might end up buying later this year.

This 1.8 billion pixel panorama of Mars is Curiosity’s most incredible eye candy yet
NASA’s Curiosity rover has a long history of snapping gorgeous images from its adventures on Mars. The Red Planet offers plenty of opportunities for breathtaking snapshots, and NASA has collected countless from the trusty rover over the years. That being said, the latest release from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is easily its most impressive so far. It’s a massive, high-resolution panorama made of a whopping 1.8 billion pixels, and you could stare at it for days.
The image, which is the highest-resolution panorama shot by the Curiosity rover thus far, was stitched together from over 1,000 individual photos captured in late November 2019. While most of us were chomping on Thanksgiving dinner, Curiosity was feasting on these glorious sights.

Put these 12 hot TV series from February on your must-stream list
About a week or so ago, I noticed a Korean TV series in my list of recommended titles in the Netflix app that the streamer decided to put in front of me to prod me to watch. Perhaps the omniscient algorithm correctly surmised I was in need of something new to binge while I wait for the new batch of Terrace House episodes to arrive, so I was recommended Crash Landing on You — a show about a fictional, Paris Hilton-type socialite from South Korea who goes paragliding and, thanks to winds from a powerful storm, basically gets blown across the border into North Korea.
Without giving away too much, since it’s right there in the title, it’s also worth pointing out that she falls out of the tree she’s stuck in and lands directly in the arms of a stern North Korean soldier (who, I assume, she’ll end up falling in love with — I’m only two episodes in, though, so we’ll see). I’m intrigued enough to keep watching and really enjoy it when this happens inside the app, this thing of being turned on to a show you’d have never found otherwise. It’s a complex task to pull off successfully, of course, and to do so over and over again. But, interestingly, Crash Landing on You squeaked on to our list of the most-watched TV shows across all the major streamers for the month of February, which suggests a lot of you were in the same boat as me — seeing the recommended title and being intrigued enough to want to investigate. (You might also be interested to know that North Korea’s propaganda machine thinks those of us who enjoy the show are basically “immoral.”)

Apple Maps is getting much more useful as its rivalry with Google Maps heats up
On a recent trip to Charleston for vacation, I continued what has by now been a longstanding practice of mine — a reliance on Google Maps to both navigate wherever I travel to (in this case the picturesque South Carolina town) and to do everything from check restaurant and business information, read reviews, and pull up numbers for a quick tap-to-call after I’ve read a bit about them. All from right there within the app that’s become so indispensable to me and millions of other users, never mind that its stated primary purpose is, well, offering navigation data. Apple, meanwhile, is trying hard to make its own mapping product competitive with Google’s, thanks in part to a comprehensive redesign of Apple Maps that was unveiled at the end of January.
The new features that update brought include Collections, which lets Apple Maps users build, save, and share lists of places they want to visit next, landmarks they want to check out on a vacation, and favorite restaurants, among other things. And along those same lines — of rolling out new features that are only barely related to the act of navigating from Point A to Point B — it seems that Apple is also planning to make a new hire as part of expanding editorial content and recommendations offered within Apple Maps.

Apple may have found a way to eliminate the iPhone’s notch without killing Face ID
The notch is the best design compromise Apple ever made — well, that, and the camera bump on the back of iPhones. It may be hideous, but the notch on every iPhone that Apple has launched since the iPhone X houses a sophisticated system of cameras and sensors that brings 3D face recognition to iPhone. And that’s the kind of feature I’d take any day over Touch ID or an equivalent fingerprint-based security system.
Put another way, the Galaxy S20 is absolutely gorgeous with its tiny hole-punch camera. It’s the all-screen design that Apple can’t deliver yet, at least not without sacrificing Face ID functionality. That’s why the iPhone 12 will still have a notch at the top. But Apple is reportedly working on a brand new camera tech that will allow it to significantly reduce the notch bezel without ditching face unlock functionality.
