Apple used its iOS anti-malware security many times to bash Android’s malware problem — which is an issue that affects plenty of Android users — but it looks like the company might have a serious iOS and OS X security issue on its hands, The New York Times reports. While malware attacks have been possible against jailbroken iOS devices for some time, a new piece of malware has been discovered that can infect even iPhones that have not been jailbroken.

This is Apple’s gorgeous new Mac App Store
Apple released OS X 10.10 Yosemite last month and the new desktop operating system was packed full of great new features. Spotlight has been totally remade, Continuity features add terrific integration with iOS devices, and plenty more functionality was added. But beyond features, Yosemite also introduced a completely redesigned interface that is flatter and far more modern than Apple’s earlier desktop software. Menus got a new look, apps got a new look and even icons were completely redesigned, but Apple’s Mac App Store remained unchanged… until now.

EFF: iMessage and FaceTime are best, most secure, mass-market messaging options
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) on Tuesday released a report on messaging apps security, saying that Apple’s iMessage and FaceTime SMS/instant message and video chat services, respectively, are the most secure mass-market options for consumers, though that doesn’t mean everything is perfect.

OnePlus wants to sell one million smartphones by the end of 2014
OnePlus has had its ups and downs throughout 2014, but as we reach the end of the year, the company still has high hopes for the intriguing OnePlus One. The Android smartphone was initially available only to consumers who managed to secure an invite, but OnePlus opened sales to the public for a limited time during a special preorder promotion last week. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a mess, but it helped propel the One to over 500,000 sales.

Korean retailers are breaking the law to sell you a cheaper iPhone 6
Even though high-end smartphones such as Apple’s iPhone 6 have a high-entry price, they’re always cheaper when purchased outright than with a two-year contract from carriers. But that doesn’t mean all potential buyers have the same perception on prices, or are willing to spend that much money at once on a new phone. South Korea is one market where smartphone competition is at an all-time high, with carriers and retailers engaged in a price war to attract more customers. And it looks like some of these retailers are willing to break the law to sell you an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus for a more affordable subsidized price, The Korea Times has learned.

You can download Google’s beautiful Material Design Calendar app right now
In addition to redesigning its Gmail app for Android, adding Material Design elements and new features for Android 5.0, Google also has a new Google Calendar app for Android, which also uses the same new design Google created for Lollipop and adds some interesting, smarter features. Even though the new Gmail and Calendar apps were officially announced on Monday, not all Android users have received them so far, but they can manually install them, as Android Police has the official Calendar APK as well, in addition to Gmail 5.0 for Android.
