This smartphone has such an insane design, you won’t believe it’s real
When it comes to new smartphone designs in 2020, Apple fans and Android smartphone users are going to have two very different experiences. Where Apple is concerned, we can expect the iPhone 12 to deliver the first big redesign of Apple’s smartphones since 2017. We’ve seen iterative changes here and there like a larger display on the iPhone XS Max and the new rear camera array on Apple’s iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro phones, but Apple’s new three-year design cycle means the iPhone has been largely unchanged for the past two generations. The upcoming iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models will sport significant changes when you get up close and personal with one. As we saw recently when we took a closer look at Apple’s leaked iPhone 12 design, the new 2020 iPhones will feature flat metal edges instead of round ones like we’ve seen on all flagship iPhones since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus back in 2014. Up close, Apple’s iPhone 12 is indeed expected to feature a big design overhaul. From afar, however, the iPhone 12 will look just like any other iPhone with a notch in the display.
Over on the Android side of the fence, there are two main design trends that will dominate the conversation in 2020. First, All the different companies out there that shamelessly stole Apple’s iPhone X design back in 2018 have a new target in their sights: Samsung. That’s right, the company that literally wrote the book on stealing smartphone designs is getting a taste of its own medicine because almost every noteworthy Android phone vendor will release a phone this year that looks just like the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S20. Then, the other big news in Android smartphone design this year is the foldable form factor. We’ve already seen two new foldable phones released in recent months, and there are likely more to come in 2020. That said, foldable smartphones are still wildly expensive niche products that require too many compromises where design and user experience are concerned.

Black Friday is back for Sony’s AirPods Pro-killing ANC earbuds and WH1000XM3 headphones
Apple’s wireless noise cancelling AirPods Pro are the hottest headphones on the market right now, and it just so happens that they’re on sale at Amazon’s lowest price ever. The only catch is shipping is delayed a bit, so you’ll have to wait a week or two for them to arrive.
Apple AirPods Pro: $234.98
Waiting a little while isn’t a big deal at all in exchange for saving some cash on the hottest Apple product out there right now, so you should definitely take advantage and order them while they’re on sale at a discount. Of course, if you’re less concerned with getting a cool Apple gadget and more focused on things like sound quality, noise cancelling quality, and overall value, there are two other deals right now on Amazon that you should definitely consider instead of AirPods Pro.
First and foremost, the mind-bogglingly good Sony WF1000XM3 true wireless earbuds are back down to Black Friday’s price as well, which happens to be about $40 less than you’ll spend on AirPods Pro even while Apple’s ANC earbuds are also on sale. They have better sound quality, battery life up to 24 hours including the charges from the carrying case, an awesome design that’s comfortable and compact, and high-quality noise cancelling tech that you won’t believe. Noise cancellation on Apple’s AirPods Pro is impressive, but it’s out of this world on the WF1000XM3 true wireless earbuds from Sony.

If you want the very best of the best when it comes to sound quality and noise cancelling capabilities, you know that you need to go for over-ear headphones as opposed to earbuds. With that in mind, you’ll be happy to know that a third pair of mind-blowing ANC headphones also just dropped to Black Friday’s wonderfully low price: the Sony WH1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. These are the best of the best, and anyone who has ever tried a pair even for just a few minutes knows it. They sound amazing, they offer terrific battery life even with ANC enabled, and Sony’s noise cancellation tech on these best-selling headphones even trumps Bose. Seriously, they’re going to blow you away!

OnePlus’s mysterious new product is a ‘Snowbot’ robot that can fire 120 mph snowballs
You know how some companies think it’s a good idea to have their fans buy flamethrowers, which aren’t really flamethrowers but are sold as such? Well, OnePlus has clever marketing tricks of its own, and the latest one is a Snowbot that can fire snowballs at insane speeds up to 120 miles per hour. That’s just insane, and it’s all in the name of science. Well, 5G science, that is. You can’t buy these devices — and OnePlus did tease that its mysterious new product will not be a commercial device or a smartphone. However, you will be able to pilot these Snowbots yourself directly from your phone.

Watch the carnage unfold in this Galaxy S20 Ultra drop test video
Starting at $1,399.99, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is the most expensive S20 flavor you can get right now — all S20 phones are costly, with the cheapest model starting at $999. Sure, you can get plenty of trade-in deals, and take advantage of current S20 sales from carriers and electronics retailers to make the phone seem more affordable. Also, Samsung is throwing in free credit your way, which can be used towards the purchase of other Samsung products, including protective gear for your handset. If you’re looking to use all these promotions to score a cheap S20 Ultra, then you should consider putting that $200 to good use right away, and order a case and new screen protectors. The phone is made of glass, and the first drop tests don’t paint a very promising picture when it comes to durability. Long story short, get yourself one of these Galaxy S20 Ultra cases if you plan on buying this phone.

Blood-red snow now covers parts of Antarctica
If you have an image in your head of Antarctica as a blindingly white winter wonderland, this photo of blood-red snow covering the ground will likely challenge that. As LiveScience reports, the images were posted to Facebook by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and were shot outside of the country’s Vernadsky Research Base in the far north of Antarctica.
It might look like the scene of some incredible massacre or biblical plague, but what you’re actually seeing here is algae growth on melting snow. The algae blooms in the summer, which it just so happens to be right now in Antarctica, and the growing intensity of the blooms have been linked to a warming climate.

The 10 best movies and shows coming to Netflix in March 2020
We’re back to a normal-sized month now that March has arrived, and there’s plenty of new content coming to Netflix. We didn’t get many of the heavy hitters last month, but Ozark returns for its third season this month, which means we get more of Jason Bateman and Laura Linney having very difficult conversations across the table from one another, and what else do we really need from a prestige drama at this point?
Some other exciting Netflix originals coming to the service this month include the Mark Wahlberg vehicle Spenser Confidential which was directed by Peter Berg and is loosely based on the ’70s novel Wonderland by Ace Atkins. We’re also getting the third season of Castlevania, which has been a major crossover hit despite being an anime based on a video game. And then there’s BEASTARS, which is yet another anime that got rave reviews when it debuted in Japan. If you’re looking for something completely different, it’s worth giving a shot.

iPhone still bests Android when it comes to device security
The iPhone vs Android debate has become markedly less heated over the past few years, in large part because premium Android devices from the likes of Samsung and Google bring a lot to the table. And while Android manufacturers a few years back unabashedly copied every iPhone feature they could, it’s not uncommon these days to see Apple copy some Android features every now and again. Suffice it to say, the difference between an iPhone and a top of the line Android is smaller today than it’s ever been before.
That notwithstanding, there are still some serious advantages that come along with picking an iPhone over an Android, with device security being a glaring example. While Apple isn’t perfect, the control the company wields over the App Store ensures that malware and scamware apps are rarely able to sneak in. In stark contrast, more than 25,000 malware apps were uploaded to the Google Play store in 2019 alone, according to a mobile threat report from RisKIQ. If anything, it seems that we can’t go a single month without some report of the Play store being flooded with a variety of harmful apps.

The coronavirus outbreak has an unexpected silver lining
The coronavirus (COVID-19) has shocked the world, and it will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The flu-like disease infected close to 90,000 people around the world since it was first discovered in late December. While China is reporting fewer cases, several other hot zones emerged in the past few weeks, including Italy, Iran, and South Korea, where the number of registered cases grow at somewhat alarming rates.
While over 45,000 patients have recovered so far, the coronavirus killed over 3,000 patients, and impacted everyday life and the world economy. Production of goods in China has been halted, as entire areas were quarantined to put a stop to the virus’ spread. Several trade shows around the world have been canceled, including MWC and the Geneva Auto Show, and even the upcoming Summer Olympic Games are at risk of being canceled. One way to stop the outbreak, aside from increasing awareness and encouraging better personal hygiene, is to limit travel and gatherings of people. It turns out that keeping people at home for a prolonged quarantine, best observed in places like in China, has had an unexpected side-effect on the quality of life in the region.

Here’s how to apply to be a NASA astronaut
NASA needs new astronauts. You want to be an astronaut. The only thing standing between you and your dream is a simple application. Okay, so maybe that’s not entirely true, but NASA really is asking for new astronaut applicants and if you fit the bill, filling out the application is the first step.
The current callout for astronaut hopefuls could fill seats on missions to the Moon or even Mars. These are some pretty important gigs, and you’ll need to meet a long list of requirements if you want to have any chance of being considered, but I’m telling you there’s a chance it could be you. Exciting, isn’t it?

I can’t wait for Apple to copy this standout Android feature
All smartphones look basically the same these days, and it feels like we’ve reached peak design when it comes to this product category. That’s not exactly the case, however. Smartphone design can get even better, and everyone in the industry is working on the smartphone design of our dreams.
Some smartphone vendors announce their plans well ahead of being able to mass-produce such devices, while others keep these innovations quiet. But some of the technologies that need to mature before those perfect smartphone designs are even possible will make their way to consumer devices soon, likely on Android handsets. And I can’t wait for the iPhone to copy one of these features.
