Apple will pay up to $500 million for throttling iPhones

Apple has been the subject of several major controversies since the first iPhone launched over a decade ago, but few have been as impactful as “batterygate,” which was the name the internet adopted when we found out that Apple was throttling old iPhones to preserve battery life. That discovery led to litigation, and on Monday, Reuters reported that Apple has agreed to pay up to $500 million to settle the case despite not admitting to any wrongdoing. Court documents stated that Apple agreed to the settlement in order to avoid a lengthy and potentially even more costly court battle.

As Bloomberg Law explains, dozens of class-action lawsuits were filed against Apple between December 2017 and June 2018 regarding the throttling, but the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation combined those suits in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in April 2018.

Avengers: Endgame marked the end of the line of three of the original Avengers, including Black Widow, Iron Man, and Captain America. On top of that, two others expected to be retired in the near future, with the help of a new movie (Thor: Love and Thunder) or a TV series (Hawkeye). All of these characters will be replaced in one way or another, with MCU Phase 4 bringing the first new members to join an Avengers team that will face the next Thanos-like threat. But there’s one hero left of the original six whose arc still needs closure. It’s also the one Marvel hero who will never get a full feature film again, but who might still have a future in the MCU.

NASA’s exciting new Space Launch System was just delayed again

NASA has been leaning heavily on SpaceX in recent years, but when it comes to the future, the Space Launch System is the space agency’s biggest bet. The SLS is supposed to be the rocket platform that sends humans back to the Moon and deeper into our solar system. It’s also been delayed so many times that it’s hard to imagine it ever actually being completed.

Now, as Space News reports, the latest estimates put the debut launch of the SLS at some point in the second half of 2021. That’s a significant delay from recent NASA estimates and yet another sign that the troubling trend of delays seems to have no end.

New PS5 and Xbox Series X leak is the craziest rumor we’ve heard yet

It’s official, February has left the building, and Sony didn’t make any major PlayStation 5 announcements of any kind during the course of the month. It’s unclear whether this was Sony’s strategy all along, or whether the disturbing coronavirus outbreak is to blame. After all, Sony pulled out of three major events during February, including MWC and two gaming shows (PAX East and GDC). However, Microsoft last week revealed most of the Xbox Series X specs in an unexpected way: via a blog post. The company also revealed some of the new features of the console and confirmed the leaks that mentioned the formidable performance of the Series X. Sony is now two steps behind Microsoft, as the PS5 design and specs are both yet to be officially unveiled. But we do have more PS5 rumors for you, including one that might be the craziest potential leak we’ve seen so far.

I still can’t get over how impressed I was with Netflix’s new series Locke & Key that was just released last month. My expectations really weren’t that high after watching the trailer, since the various clips they used made it look like a CW show. Sure, CW shows are popular, but that brand of YA content with soap opera acting and bargain-basement visual effects really isn’t my cup of tea. I decided to give it a shot though, and Locke & Key was in a totally different league. If you haven’t already seen it, you’ll be hooked instantly.

Also, be sure to check out all the other original movies and shows that Netflix released in February. It wasn’t a huge month in terms of quantity, but there were definitely some high-quality shows and movies added to the company’s catalog. The second season of Narcos: Mexico is another great release, and people seem to like the new season of Altered Carbon, though I passed on it because I didn’t like the first season at all. Another show that’s definitely on my list from February is I Am Not Okay With This. It’s a brand new series with involvement from various people behind Stranger Things and The End Of The F***ing World, and it looks like a definite winner. Make sure you don’t take too long to binge-watch it though if it’s also on your list because March 2020 is here and there’s a slew of new original Netflix shows and movies coming along with it.

Over the course of this month, Netflix will release a whopping 55 different original TV series, movies, and specials. That’s up from 40 in February which is a huge jump, but thankfully there’s no sacrificing quality for quantity.

Starting on March 5th, the third season of Netflix’s hit show Castlevania is likely the first high-profile release this month. More than a half-dozen more Netflix originals will debut just one day later on March 6th, and the most notable among them is definitely the Netflix original movie Spenser Confidential. Finally, Netflix gets its own Mark Wahlberg action flick. New seasons of Kingdom and The Boss Baby: Back in Business are also coming next month, but there are three new seasons of Netflix original shows that are by far the most hotly anticipated releases of the entire month: Paradise PD part 2 on March 6th, Elite season 3 on March 13th, and of course Ozark season 3 on March 27th. I cannot wait to see what happens next in Netflix’s thrilling drama starring Jason Bateman.
