T-Mobile has done a lot to improve its network over the past couple of years, but even the scrappy “Un-carrier” has admitted that it would not be able to match the network quality of AT&T and Verizon unless it gets access to more low-frequency spectrum, which propagates better than high-frequency spectrum and more easily penetrates buildings. Because of this, both T-Mobile and Sprint must be disheartened to learn that the Federal Communications Commission has delayed a key spectrum auction that could have given both carriers a major shot in the arm.

It appears that Apple isn’t wasting any time either as reports began to spread on Friday that Apple Pay is now compatible with Amazon Rewards Visa Cards.

Comcast thinks HBO may have just made a huge mistake

Surprise: Comcast isn’t overly enthusiastic about HBO’s plan to offer a standalone streaming service that will appeal to cord cutters. Barron’s notes that during an earnings call this week, Comcast EVP and NBC CEO Steve Burke was asked for his take on HBO’s decision to offer a standalone streaming option starting next year. As you might expect, Burke downplayed its significance and even suggested that HBO might come to regret breaking itself away from the bundle in the future.
