YOU NEED TO TRY THIS! This free app is a fantastic alternative to Google’s game-changing email app ‘Inbox’

Rumors swirled last year suggesting that Google was trying to acquire email startup Mailbox, but all that came to an end when Mailbox was acquired by Dropbox. So, Google decided to build its own Mailbox. Unveiled and released earlier this week, “Inbox” is Google’s new email app that has tech bloggers buzzing, once again heralding a fresh take on email as a game-changer. We have used the app ourselves and there’s no question that Google has done a terrific job so far of aping many of the best features from Mailbox and dumping them into a gorgeous interface with some great new features.

Inbox is an early beta and it still has a long way to go before it can be considered a complete email solution, and for the time being it only works with personal Gmail accounts. Also, the service is accessible only by invite, though invitations are fairly easy to come by (go here and click the link in the top right corner to request an invite).

Are you looking for a similar solution that’s even more comprehensive and works with a wider range of email services? We might have just the app you’re searching for.

I am writing these words on a MacBook Pro. There are many like it, but this Mac is mine. My MacBook is the tool I use most in my life. My MacBook, without me, is useless. Without my MacBook, I am useless. I have learned all about its weaknesses, its strengths, its features and its accessories. I think I have mastered it, and managed to fix various issues to help keep it usable even though it’s an older machine — I even saved it from what could have been a fatal coffee incident, I swapped out the RAM and I replaced the hard drive with an SSD to speed it up.

But thankfully, I never had to deal with a major issue that Apple will not acknowledge and isn’t willing to fix, and which I certainly wouldn’t be able to repair on my own.

Apple’s rumored 12.9-inch iPad model, referred to unofficially as the iPad Pro, is supposed to arrive at some point in 2015 according to certain reports, while others say the device is not considered “official” at Apple yet. Assuming Apple is going forward with iPad Pro plans, the gigantic tablet won’t be the only tablet to sport a bigger than 10-inch display next year. Digitimes has learned from Taiwan-based suppliers that several companies are working on large-size tablets supposed to launch next year in the first or second quarter.

What parts of America have the fastest broadband connections? The short answer is “Delaware.” The slightly longer answer is “somewhere in the northeastern U.S.” The Connectivist has posted data of peak connection speeds for every state in America and has found that the fastest services are in the eastern part of the country, led by Delaware and followed by Virginia, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, New Jersey and Connecticut. In fact, the only state in the top 10 that isn’t on the eastern seaboard is Washington, which has a peak connection speed of 56.6Mbps.

How to ditch Yosemite and roll back to Mavericks

Apple’s 2014 OS X update is already available to plenty of Mac users — even though not all supported machines have what it takes to let users enjoy some of Yosemite’s coolest features — but that doesn’t mean all Mac owners who jumped on Yosemite after Apple released it last week are necessarily happy with the upgrade. Unlike with iOS 8 users, who can’t downgrade their iOS devices to iOS 7 (at least not officially), Mac users have the option of jumping back to Mavericks if they so desire, and OS X Daily has put together a quick guide on how to downgrade a Yosemite-running system to last year’s OS.

We’ve seen a bunch of hugely promising new features that Microsoft has added to Windows 10 via its Technical Preview but this might be the most important one yet. ZDNet’s Ed Bott gives us a detailed rundown of the new two-factor authentication system that Microsoft is implementing with Windows 10 and he says it has the potential to effectively cripple phishing attacks and password database breaches, which are two of the most popular tactics hackers use to gain unauthorized access to our online accounts.
