BGR has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. BGR and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Please note: the offers mentioned below are subject to change at any time and some may no longer be available.

  • Southwest’s business credit card has an elevated sign-up bonus.
  • If you sign up now for the card, you can earn up to 100,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points.
  • Even better: All you have to do is meet this card’s spending requirements, and you’ll have enough points to earn one of the most coveted travel industry perks: A Southwest Companion Pass.

Relying on plastic is pretty much a way of life for businesses that need to charge expenses, often big expenses, on a regular basis, and the same way individual consumers have a dizzying array of personal cards to choose from, many issuers likewise offer variants of their card products tailored specifically to businesspeople. They all feature varying incentives, perks, and bonus rewards, and depending on your personal circumstances there are some it makes sense to take a closer look at and others to ignore altogether. For example, if you’re a business owner who also regularly flies Southwest, it might be time to consider the budget airline’s Southwest Rapid Rewards Performance Business Credit Card, if you haven’t already, given that it’s running a pretty generous elevated welcome offer right now.

The most massive explosion since the Big Bang was just spotted in deep space

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

As far as astronomers know, the Big Bang is why we’re all here. The massive explosion sent all the matter we see in the universe flying, expanding rapidly and coalescing into the stars, planets, and other objects that fill the cosmos. Now, astronomers have detected what they believe is the largest explosion ever observed by humans, and it took place in a cluster of galaxies nearly 400 million light-years away.

The record-breaking explosion is believed to have originated in a black hole at the heart of the Ophiuchus galaxy cluster. It was spotted using data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory as well as the ESA’s XMM-Newton and other instruments in Australia and India.

New ‘Matrix 4’ footage shows the wild extremes that stuntmen subject themselves to

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

I recently decided to start a rewatch of all three Matrix movies (which you can stream right now on Netflix) as a refresher in advance of the hotly anticipated fourth installment in the franchise arriving in theaters a little over a year from now. And while that’s certainly helping stoke my interest in what we’re in store for with The Matrix 4, there’s also something else I hadn’t planned on that’s amped up my excitement in a major way.

The world is a lot more connected these days — thanks, in large part, to social media — than it was when the first Matix film debuted back in 1999. Such that Twitter and Facebook have been flooded in a pretty big way with amateur photos and videos snapped in San Francisco, which is where Matrix 4 is currently filming. It’s so unusual to have this much behind-the-scenes content to peruse about a movie you’re excited to see — and today, I’ve now seen what I think might be the most dramatic footage yet captured by a fan in the area.

PS5 might get an amazing controller feature that the Xbox Series X can’t match

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Sony is under a lot of pressure to unveil the PlayStation 5, or at least some new details about the upcoming console, as Microsoft is already way ahead. The Xbox Series X name and design were revealed in mid-December, and the company just shared many of the console’s next-gen specs this week. Both were complete surprises, as Microsoft hijacked an awards show to reveal the console’s design last December, and then suddenly dropped a blog post that featured a deep dive into the Xbox Series X’s hardware this week.

While we wait for Sony’s moves, which will likely be affected by the coronavirus outbreak that prompted the cancelation of several major events, with Sony itself pulling out of at least three trade shows so far, we do have more exciting PlayStation news for you. Unlike Microsoft, which has controlled the narrative, Sony’s innovations have leaked at a steady pace. And the newest finding is more exciting than any of the previous ones, as it details a controller feature that would give the new PlayStation a huge advantage over the Series X.

Reddit CEO calls TikTok ‘parasitic,’ sparking a truly insane discussion on – where else – Reddit

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It strikes me as a little ironic that, just one day after Reddit CEO Steve Huffman’s broadside about TikTok being “fundamentally parasitic,” it sparked at least one massive Reddit thread so intense and even packed with criticism of Huffman’s leadership that said thread is now locked and closed-off to new comments.

Huffman, who’s also a co-founder of Reddit, was at a public event Wednesday night when he leveled his criticism onstage at TikTok, an upstart, massively popular new social network that’s owned by a Chinese parent company. “I look at that app as so fundamentally parasitic, that it’s always listening, the fingerprinting technology they use is truly terrifying, and I could not bring myself to install an app like that on my phone,” Huffman said from the stage. “I actively tell people, ‘Don’t install that spyware on your phone.” Naturally, Reddit has pretty much exploded with discussion threads around this news — almost two dozen such discussions, last time I checked.

Tim Cook talks about how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Apple’s business

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

With researchers and medical professionals still working hard to contain the spread of the coronavirus, tech companies with a heavy manufacturing presence in China have been feeling the squeeze. Shares of Apple, for example, have plummeted drastically over the past few days, with the stock falling by more than 50 points since last week.

In light of the coronavirus, Apple earlier this month issued a press release indicating that investors should anticipate lower than expected earnings for the quarter on account of store closings in China and production slowdowns. Indeed, there have been some rumblings that iPhone 12 supply might be constrained at launch later this year.

The only foldable phone you should consider buying right now is back in stock

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Galaxy Z Flip that Samsung just launched is the foldable phone the company should have delivered last year.

The Galaxy Fold turned out to be a huge disappointment, but its design failures certainly helped Samsung create an even better foldable, and should help other handset vendors looking to make their own foldable devices. If you’re looking for a foldable to buy, the Z Flip is really the only phone you should even consider right now — just ignore the Motorola Razr, Galaxy Fold, and the new Mate Xs. And it just so happens that Samsung has more Flip stock on hand today, so now’s the time to get your order in.

Popular iPhone game ‘Plague Inc.’ gets booted from China’s App Store

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Over the past few years, there have only been a few apps I use that have managed to survive a successive number of iPhone upgrades. If anything, a new iPhone purchase is typically a great excuse to do a massive app purge. After all, it’s not as if anyone still needs to be playing Fruit Ninja in 2020.

One app, though, that I make a point to have on every new iPhone is Plague Inc., a game that has been a top-selling app on the App Store for quite some time now. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s essentially a medical-oriented simulation game that challenges users to spread a deadly disease across the globe as scientists and health professionals look to contain it.

Google Stadia’s free tier might finally be coming soon

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Google officially revealed the cloud-based gaming service Stadia last summer, we were told there would be a premium tier called Stadia Pro — which would cost $9.99 per month — and a free tier called Stadia Base. Stadia Pro launched alongside the service and the Stadia Controller in November, but in the months since, we’ve heard hardly a peep about Stadia Base. All we know for sure is that it is set to launch at some point in 2020.

Google has yet to announce anything, but after digging through the files of the latest Stadia app update, 9to5Google may have found evidence that the free tier is finally being prepped for a public release.

Last chance to get a Fire TV Stick at the best price of 2020, or $50 off the ultimate bundle for cord cutters

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Amazon’s big Fire TV blowout is winding down right now, and it’ll almost certainly come to an end either today or tomorrow. Sure, we’ve already told you about all the best deals in the sale a few times, but we wanted to run through them one last time for a few different reasons. First, the prices are phenomenal. Second, this could be your last chance to get discounts this deep until Prime Day 2020 rolls around this summer. And third, a new deal was just thrown into the mix that’ll save you $50 on the ultimate Fire TV bundle for cord cutters.

Before we get to the new bundle, let’s cover the killer Amazon deals we’ve already told you about. The best-selling ones are obviously the $40 Fire TV Stick for $24.99 and the $50 Fire TV Stick 4K for $34.99. Both of those prices are within $5 of all-time lows, and they’re two of the most popular streaming media players of all time.

Then you’ve got the $120 Fire TV Cube on sale for $89.99, which matches an all-time low price for this awesome device. It’s basically a Fire TV Stick 4K built into an Echo Dot, so you get all the awesome streaming features plus hands-free access to Alexa. And finally, Amazon is blowing out Fire TV Edition televisions like the Toshiba 43LF711U20 43-inch 4K Ultra HD Fire TV Edition Smart LED TV for $239.99 and the Insignia NS-55DF710NA19 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Fire TV Edition Smart LED TV for $369.99.

Insignia NS-55DF710NA19 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition: $369.99

Those deals are all fantastic. You really can’t go wrong with any of them. But there’s one more deal right now on Amazon that you should definitely take a look at before you commit to any of the afforementioned bargains.

Amazon sells a bundle that has a pretty wordy name: Fire TV Stick 4K bundle with Fire TV Recast (DVR) and an HD Antenna. It’s a mouthful indeed, but as the name suggests it has everything you could possibly need to cut the cord. First, you get a Fire TV Stick 4K ($50 value) you can plug into any TV to stream content from every source you can imagine. Then, you get a Fire TV Recast DVR with 500GB of storage ($230 value) that can also stream all that great content, plus it can record live TV just like the DVR your pay TV company provided. And finally, you get a top-rated 35-mile HDTV antenna ($20 value) that lets you watch live network TV from all the most popular channels for free, forever.

All together, that’s a $300 value and Amazon typically sells the bundle for $250. Buy the Fire TV Stick 4K bundle with Fire TV Recast (DVR) and an HD Antenna right now before this deal ends, however, and you’ll only pay $199.97!
