Apple will unveil new products for its iPad and Mac families on Thursday, with some reports only expecting a redesigned iPad Air 2 and a 27-inch Retina iMac to be unveiled on stage. However, other reports also say that a new Retina iPad mini will also be announced, with one new report from Taiwanese publication Digitimes claiming that Apple has a trick up its sleeve for the event.

Samsung’s latest flagship handset is a much better phablet than the iPhone 6 Plus, but is it a better smartphone?
It’s certainly open to debate, but I would argue that the Galaxy Note 4 is the most important flagship smartphone Samsung has ever launched. It won’t be Samsung’s fastest-selling phone and it definitely won’t ship the most units over its lifespan. The Note 4 doesn’t even necessarily break new ground like the original Galaxy Note did two years ago.
But 2014 marks the first time ever that Samsung will go up against Apple in the phablet space it helped pioneer, and whether or not Samsung’s Note 4 sales show continued growth could be a telling sign of things to come.

It looks like the LG G4 will have the killer camera you’ve been waiting for
So far, the battle for the title of having 2014’s best smartphone camera has basically come down to a fight between Apple and Samsung, although Nokia certainly had the start of something special when it released the 41-megapixel Lumia 1020 camera more than a year ago. Certain mobile ISPs can apparently block encryption for online services
As the battle for net neutrality rages on, new evidence seems to indicate that ISPs and wireless operators could block encryption if they so desire, endangering the security of the users at a time when encryption is becoming more and more important for certain Internet services. TechDirt has discovered some new comments filed by VPN company Golden Frog with the FCC that suggest carriers may have too much power when it comes to being able to throttle traffic and encryption.

LG looks like this year’s surprise Android smartphone hit

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 launch is already delayed in one big market
Bad news if you live in Australia: If you’re one of the many people who plan to preorder the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it will be delayed. The much-anticipated Galaxy Note 4 was set to go on sale on October 29th, but Samsung Australia has just issued a statement saying that it will not be able to hit that launch date.
