Dropbox denies data breach, as hacker says 7M accounts compromised
An anonymous user posted on Pastebin hundreds of Dropbox usernames and passwords, teasing that he has access to login credentials for as many as 7 million Dropbox accounts. However, it’s not clear where the person got the list, The Next Web reports, and Dropbox says its security hasn’t been compromised.

Yet another carrier has given up trying to buy T-Mobile
Is the “Un-carrier” unsellable? Bloomberg reports that French carrier Illiad has now given up its bid to buy T-Mobile from parent company Deutsche Telekom, thus making it the second carrier to fail at acquiring the scrappy mobile operator this year. Apparently Illiad decided to withdraw its bid after upping its offer to $36 per share to acquire 67% of the company, which was a boost from the $33 per share it offered to acquire 56.6% of the company this past summer. Despite this higher offer, Deutsche Telekom apparently remained uninterested in the proposal.

It’s about time: Verizon’s Netflix streaming is finally getting faster after payouts
On Monday, Netflix updated its ISP-shaming speed index, and it revealed the average streaming speeds for Verizon FiOS, which rose 31.5% last month to 3.17 Mbps during peak hours, up from 2.41 Mbps in August.

Even hardcore Samsung haters will applaud the company for this innovation
Samsung takes a lot of knocks for being a “fast follower” in the tech world but the company really is much more innovative than many give it credit for. Case in point: Samsung this week announced the development of a new 60GHz Wi-Fi technology that will allow for peak download speeds of up to 4.6Gbps, an five-fold increase from the current top speeds of 866Mbps.

Chromecast’s powers may soon extend to the realm of online games
Google’s Chromecast is an incredibly intuitive take on the set-top box, but it has its limitations. For example, it’s not much of a games console, but Concept96 hopes to change that with its very first casual game designed specifically for the Chromecast. In its Kickstarter campaign, Concept96 is asking for just £1000 (~$1600) to build Buzzb, a multiplayer quiz game that lifts videos and music from YouTube, Soundcloud and other online sources.

Xiaomi says Jony Ive needs to test Xiaomi’s Apple knockoffs before criticizing them
After Jony Ive took a hard stance in a recent interview against companies that copy the design of various Apple products, including hardware and software, Xiaomi boss Lin Bin issued a response to Chinese media, The Register reports, inviting Apple’s design guru to try Xiaomi products before criticizing them.

These are the iPhone 6’s next major steps toward world domination
On Monday, Apple announced that it will continue its rollout of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to an additional 36 countries this month. This will bring the total number to 69 countries. The latest round of launches will begin with China, India and Monaco on October 17th, and then progress to Israel on October 23rd.
