September was like Christmas for Apple fans, as the company released both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus while also revealing the Apple Watch for the first time. October promises to be just as good for a month for Android fans, as they’ll get to use the highly anticipated Android L for the first time and they’ll be able to buy a ton of new high-end devices. New report claims Apple’s iPad Pro will do something unthinkable
Many reports so far have revealed that Apple is working on an even bigger tablet than the 9.7-inch legacy iPad, a 12.9-inch device — the iPad Pro — that would better appeal to professionals. The device is expected to arrive in mid 2015, according to people familiar with the matter that spoke with various publications, although it’s not clear what new differentiating features the device will have to offer. Meanwhile, Digitimes has learned that Apple might be developing two iPad Pro versions and one of them will supposedly offer users the kind of operating system that Apple has vowed not to make.

And what about scannable rewards cards or getting cash at an ATM? Even years from now, there will still be limitations that Apple Pay doesn’t overcome, and there will still be plenty of establishments that don’t accept Apple Pay or other similar services.
There is a gap between now and several years down the road when mobile payment solutions are truly ubiquitous, and Palo Alto-based startup Plastc might be the company to fill that gap.

The Wii U’s latest savior game finally has a release date
Nintendo announced on Tuesday that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the home console companion to the portable entry which released last week, will finally be available in the United States on November 21st. The highly anticipated brawler will then make its way to Europe two weeks later on December 5th. It took longer than many fans (and bloggers) had expected to reveal the date, but it looks like Nintendo is still on track.

Samsung took a record beating, as Apple prepared for record iPhone 6 sales
While its main rival can’t make enough new iPhones to go around, Samsung is getting ready to announce its fourth consecutive quarter of earnings decline, Reuters reports, and its first annual profit dip since 2011. Even worse, Samsung’s profit for the July-September quarter will be its lowest since the second quarter of 2011, Reuters reports.

WSJ: JPMorgan Chase hackers failed to infiltrate other banks
JPMorgan Chase has recently confirmed that hackers managed to breach its computers system and access identification data for as many as 83 million accounts, although they were not able to steal actual financial information, passwords and social security numbers associated to those accounts. The hackers were able to obtained detailed information about the programs JPMorgan uses to protect its network, a recent report has also revealed, information that could be used for future attacks. Furthermore, the hackers reportedly tried to attack as many as nine other financial institutions, according to a New York Times report on Friday, but The Wall Street Journal has learned that cyberattackers didn’t manage to breach other networks.

Google says TV studios are charging Google Fiber ridiculous prices for their shows
Cord cutting may be the future but Google Fiber unfortunately still has to deal with the present, and that means it has to shell out cash to TV studios for the rights to deliver their shows over its pay TV service. Per The Washington Post, Google Fiber boss Milo Medin said on Monday that paying for TV programs is the biggest impediment to Google Fiber spreading further, especially because studios charge significantly more for the rights to offer their shows than they charge big cable companies like Comcast and Time Warner Cable.

New York City opts to remove its creepy payphone tracking beacons
In addition to stadiums, malls, and other stores that deployed special Bluetooth-enabled beacons to track customers and provide special offers, promos and advertisements, public phone booths in New York City will also track users and push similar content to their devices in the future – BuzzFeed has learned.

Ambi Climate is a new, Internet-connected, smart remote that’s been designed to increase at-home air conditioning efficiency and reduce costs by up to 30%, according to the company. Produced by Ambi Labs, the gadget has been launched on Kickstarter, as the company is seeking $25,000 in funding.

This is what Windows 95 looks like running on Android Wear
Any time a new device hits the market, it’s always fascinating to see how tech-savvy developers, designers and hobbyists will tinker with it to push it to its limits. Web developer Corbin Davenport has received some attention over the last week for getting both Minecraft Pocket Edition and the original PC FPS Doom to run on Android Wear, but those were just warm-ups for the most impressive feat of all — running Windows 95 on a Samsung Gear Live.
