This is the world’s first in-depth review of Apple’s CarPlay
Apple’s quest to take over every inch of our digital lives took a small step forward earlier this week with the addition of CarPlay support to several aftermarket car stereo units from Pioneer. CarPlay, you might recall, is Apple’s iOS (and BlackBerry QNX) based solution for moving its iPhone interface off of your smartphone and onto the display on your automobile’s infotainment system.
CarPlay appeared to be fairly impressive upon initial inspection — especially compared to the awful infotainment software found in most cars — but so far we have only seen some brief hands-on looks at the solution on various blogs and news sites. Now, however, the first in-depth CarPlay review has been published.

Nexus 6 leak spills new details
Google is getting ready to unveil a new Nexus handset this fall, a huge 6-inch Nexus 6 smartphone that is supposed to launch once Android L is ready for its commercial release. Interestingly, in addition to selling directly from the Google’s Play Store, the Nexus 6 may also be stocked by certain carriers in the U.S., including Verizon, which didn’t sell any of the most recent Nexus smartphones.

Leak: This is Tesla’s ‘D’
Tesla is by far the most exciting car company in the world right now, as founder and CEO Elon Musk continues to lead the charge away from gas-powered vehicles. With one car currently on the road and another two known to be in development, Musk took to Twitter earlier this week to tease what some believed might be a fourth model currently in the works.
As it turns out, however, the Tesla “D” Musk has been teasing might not be a new model at all. Instead, a photograph taken by an unknowing passer-by may have just spoiled Tesla’s big reveal, which is scheduled to take place on October 9th.

HTC manages $21 million Q3 profit, but revenue continues to slide
HTC on Friday announced unaudited financial results that showed an 8% decline in revenue in September, but the company still managed to eke a third-quarter profit as cost-cutting measures continue to boost HTC’s bottom line. After a massive 33% on-year revenue decline in July was reversed with solid 10% sales growth in August, September saw HTC swing back to a decline as revenue fell to NT$16.7 billion ($549 million USD) from NT$18.2 billion in the same quarter last year.
HTC’s total third-quarter revenue fell 11% on year to NT$41.9 billion.

Google also interested in buying the most popular custom Android ROM ever
Google may have been interested in purchasing custom ROM maker Cyanogen, The Information has discovered, as the latter is looking for additional funding, seeking a valuation close to $1 billion. Previous reports from the same online publication revealed that many other companies have also shown interest in Cyanogen, including Microsoft, Samsung, Amazon and many other.

Samsung hints that it will be designing the A9 chip for the iPhone 7
Whether they like it or not, Apple and Samsung are going to be stuck working together for the foreseeable future. According to ZDNet, Kim, Ki-nam, president of Samsung’s semiconductor business, said this week that the company’s profits “will improve positively” once it begins supplying Apple with its new 14-nanometer processors.
