Buying a used iPhone? Here’s how to find out if it’s stolen first
The new iPhone 6 models aren’t the only iOS handsets selling well, as many people are more than happy to purchase a cheaper used iPhone model. However, one problem with the used devices selling in various places is that they might be stolen, or still accidentally protected by Apple’s Find My iPhone features. In such cases, the active Activation Lock iOS security feature will prevent buyers from using an iOS device without using the original Apple ID and password in order to activate it. But iDownloadBlog has discovered that Apple released a new online tool that lets users check whether Activation Lock is active on an iOS device.

Video: Flagship Android phones can’t touch iPhone 6 in this speed test
Even though many smartphone enthusiasts were quick to scoff at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for their seemingly substandard specs, reviews and benchmark tests revealed that the new iPhones, with their dual-core A8 chips and 1GB of RAM, can easily beat high-end Android devices that pack fast quad-core CPUs and 2GB to 3GB of RAM when it comes to performance. To further test the speed of the iPhone 6 and compare it with the current top offerings from HTC and Samsung, including the HTC One (M8) and the Galaxy S5, Phone Buff has put all three devices through the same speed test, recording their performance in the process.

Tim Allen gives the BlackBerry Passport a high-profile endorsement on Jimmy Kimmel
BlackBerry would never do anything gimmicky like pay U2 to play at its flagship phone launch… well, OK, it did sort of appoint Alicia Keys to be its creative director that one time and it did have Wayne Gretzky introduce the Passport, but those two things were totally different because there’s always something pure about what they do! The point is, BlackBerry has never really been about getting celebrity endorsements for its products, although we can’t imagine it will turn them down if they just happen to come along.

Celebrities hit by ‘Nudegate’ iCloud hack may file $100M lawsuit against… Google?
There’s little question at this point that the recent round of nude celebrity photo leaks are Apple’s fault. Hackers supposedly used simple brute force attacks, which consist of quickly and repeatedly guessing different passwords for an account until one works, to infiltrate iCloud accounts belonging to celebrities. Hacks of this kind are quite old and a simple security measure that restricts access to an account when incorrect passwords are used too many times in a short span would have prevented the leaks, if brute force attacks were indeed the hackers’ weapon of choice.
But now, it looks like this huge ordeal could end up costing Google, not Apple, millions of dollars.
