This is what it was like to preorder the iPhone 6
This morning I woke up at about the same time I always do. I stumbled out of bed and down the hall to my home office, where I sat down at my desk and clicked on my desk lamp. After waking my computer, I winced a bit as I typed A P P L E . C O M into my web browser. The website loaded instantly, and about three minutes later I had preordered two new iPhone 6 handsets, a space gray one for myself and a second silver model for my wife. Both handsets will be delivered on launch day, September 19th. I put my computer back to sleep, switched off my desk lamp and stumbled downstairs.
Most people, of course, did not enjoy a similarly smooth preorder experience.

The iPhone 6 might be low-res, but Apple’s highest-resolution device ever is coming soon
Compared to flagship phones from other leading smartphone makers, the resolution of Apple’s brand new iPhone 6 is laughable. 1,334 x 750 pixels? A pixel density of just 326 pixels per inch? Lined up with the full HD display and 432 ppi pixel density on Samsung’s Galaxy S5 or the 538 pixels per inch touted by LG’s G3, the iPhone 6’s resolution is pathetic. Of course, anyone who has actually used an iPhone 5s in the past can tell you that 326 ppi displays serve up wonderfully crisp images, but pixel hounds looking for more from Apple finally have something to get excited about — Apple’s highest-resolution device ever will reportedly debut before the end of 2014.

Kicked off only a few hours ago, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus preorders soon showed clear signs proving massive demand for the handsets, including preorder issues and quick sell outs.

Cord cutters’ unlikely new ally: Verizon?
Verizon has famously gotten into multiple spats with Netflix but the telecom giant might soon find itself in the middle of peering disputes of its own with incumbent ISPs. Deadline Hollywood reports that Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said on Thursday that his company is working to get an Internet pay television service up and running sometime in 2015 that will include the four major TV networks plus other “custom channels.” The big news, however, is that McAdam also made arguments about the future of TV that will make bundle-loving cable executives’ hearts seize.
