Microsoft’s Surface is still getting mistaken for an iPad by NFL announcers after a $400M deal
It’s no secret that Microsoft has struggled to gain significant momentum with its Surface line of tablets, but it certainly doesn’t help when paid professionals can’t even get the name right on national television. Over a year ago, Microsoft announced a $400 million partnership with the NFL which would bring interactive content exclusively to the Xbox One. It also put Surface Pro 2 tablets into the hands of coaches and players on the sidelines, but there’s one thing Microsoft didn’t account for: none of the announcers seem to know what a Surface is.

Microsoft reportedly mulls rebranding Windows in the most confusing way possible
Microsoft would understandably like to move on from Windows 8 as quickly as possible, which is why the company is so eager to show off Windows 9 in the coming weeks. However, Softpedia’s sources say that Microsoft might be so eager to rebrand its flagship software program that it might end up calling Windows 9 just plain-old “Windows” instead. And that’s not all: The company may end up branding Windows RT and Windows Phone as “Windows” as well. Needless to say, Softpedia thinks this could create even more confusion for prospective buyers.

A 7-inch Google tablet has been spotted at the FCC, but it isn’t the third-generation Nexus 7 version that some Android fans would like to see in stores. Meanwhile the eagle-eyed folks at TuttoAndroid have figured out what the device is, revealing that the NX74751 is actually the model number of one Google tablet not all Nexus fans will get to play with.

APPLE’S ANNOUNCEMENT RUINED: This is the first video of a real iPhone 6
Apple’s event this coming Tuesday hasn’t been much of a surprise for industry-watchers. However, it appears that a working iPhone 6 has made its way into the hands of an Apple fan who has started posting pictures and videos of the device on a Chinese site. The phone and software don’t seem to be edited in any way and this very much is the real deal.
We can see a new Passbook icon which features a magnetic credit card at the top, assumingly for the fact you are now going to be able to pay using your iOS devices everywhere you go. Let’s hope there is still a surprise come Tuesday, though I personally think this is going to be the biggest and most important Apple event in a long time. You can view the video here.
