Graphene has been called a “magical” material that may hold the key to better electronic gadgets, both when it comes to device durability but also electrical abilities, as various research teams are figuring new ways to put the astonishing material to good use. Reports have so far detailed longer-lasting batteries based on graphene, significantly improved wireless data speeds using antennas made of the material, while some people are interested in using it for better sound, but it looks like graphene can also be used to build flexible displays.

Why would someone who bought an iPhone 5c last year now pay top dollar for an iPhone 6?
Online survey company Survata has just come out with a new poll of nearly 900 consumers that asked them their interest in upgrading to the iPhone 6. Unsurprisingly, iPhone 5 owners — who likely have two-year contracts expiring this fall — were the most willing to upgrade, as fully 36% of them said they were planning to buy a new iPhone.

HTC may have just saved itself from making a huge mistake
Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread… and in this case, HTC may wind up looking very wise indeed. Pocket Lint’s sources say that HTC has for now scrapped its plans to release a smartwatch, likely because the company decided that the device simply wouldn’t have sold well and thus would have been a waste of company resources.

The chip that’ll power your future fanless Macbook Air has been launched… again
Intel’s Core M, the processor that will finally let laptop makers create fanless devices that are slimmer than anything that has been done before, has been launched… again. After unveiling it in early June at Computex 2014, and then in mid-August when it announced the Core M is ready for mass production, Intel on Friday announced the device yet again, mentioning that devices packing Intel Core Ms will feature “razor-thin, fanless designs with the optimal blend of beauty, performance and battery life.”

Apple just made another big hire – famous industrial designer Marc Newson
Well here’s some late-Friday Apple news that has nothing to do with the iPhone 6 or the iWatch. Vanity Fair reports that Apple has hired famous industrial designer Marc Newson, who’s a longtime friend of Apple design boss Jony Ive and whose work has been commissioned “by Ford, Nike, and Qantas Airways, among others,” Vanity Fair says.

We might finally learn the official name of Android L soon
