HTC’s hot Nexus 9 tablet might launch sooner than you think
Google is expected to unveil two Nexus devices this year – at least according to some recent reports – including the HTC Nexus 9 tablet and the Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone. The Nexus 9 has been found listed in code as the “HTC T1” according to some leaks and it may launch a lot sooner than people expect, @upleaks says.

HUGE MOTO X+1 LEAK: Verizon’s Moto X+1 shown in press renders
Motorola is reportedly going to launch up to eight devices this year, including the company’s upcoming flagship that will be known as the Moto X+1. While we’ve seen plenty of purported leaked pics of the X+1 in the past, the best Moto X+1 leak came on Thursday from @evleaks, who posted it as a retirement gift from his leaking career.

Apple is going to extreme lengths to make sure your iPhone 6 is just perfect
How much does Apple want to make sure the iPhone 6 is the best it can be? So much that it’s willing to make a last minute change just weeks before its launch that has apparently left its supply chain partners “scrambling.” According to a new report from Reuters, Apple this month sent a key iPhone 6 component “back to the drawing board” for a redesign after the company found that it didn’t make the device’s display bright enough to meet its exacting standards.

Research reveals there are almost 19,000 different kinds of Android devices in use
No wonder you may be having trouble buying the right Android smartphone and/or tablet for you, as there are simply so many devices to choose from. OpenSignal has released its “Android Fragmentation Visualized” report for August 2014, revealing there are 18,796 distinct Android devices this year, a significant increase from last August, when 11,868 devices were registered.

Will Amazon’s Fire Phone flop finally kill flagship carrier exclusives?
We’re not sure how many times we have to say this, but offering your premiere piece of hardware as a carrier exclusive is not a good idea. SO COOL: Functional hard drives have already been built in Minecraft
Minecraft players have taken a huge step towards building a functional computer inside the game by creating a critical computer component: A hard drive that can actually store data. In fact CNET reports that two such hard drives have already been created by two distinct players, including one that can store 1KB of data and a slightly bigger one that can store 4KB of data.

Sony exec admits he doesn’t understand why the PS4 is so popular
It’s safe to say that even Sony is surprised by how popular the PlayStation 4 has been. In an interview with Eurogamer, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida says that while the company is obviously pleased with how many consoles it’s sold so far, it’s a little apprehensive about it because it really has no idea why it’s this popular.
