NASA just recreated Apollo 13’s Moon journey in stunning 4K
NASA’s Apollo 13 was one of the space agency’s most incredible missions into space. With a goal of landing on the Moon, the mission hit a colossal snag when a spacecraft malfunction blew it off course and threatened the lives of the three-man crew. It took an around-the-clock effort to bring them back alive, and was ultimately deemed a “successful failure.”
It was a trying time for the space agency as well as the astronauts aboard the doomed spacecraft. Rather than landing on the Moon, the crew used the Moon’s gravity to slingshot the spacecraft around and make a quick flight back to Earth. It wasn’t what anyone had planned, but it did provide the men with a glorious, up-close look at the Moon.

Huawei’s new Mate Xs is better than its predecessor in every way, save for one fatal flaw
When Huawei unveiled the Mate X foldable at MWC 2019, the innovative handset stole the show.
It was easily the best commercial foldable phone we had seen to that point, which wasn’t hard to accomplish, considering that Samsung had only unveiled the Galaxy Fold a few days before Huawei’s event. Cut to 2020, and the Chinese smartphone vendor has just unveiled the Mate X successor during an event that would have taken place during MWC 2020, were it not for the coronavirus outbreak that led to the cancellation of the show. As expected, the Mate Xs is better in every way than its predecessor, save for one fatal flaw.

Google explains why you can’t get its apps on Huawei’s new phones
One of the prevailing international storylines in the smartphone industry over the past few months has been the US government’s ban of Huawei devices, which has forced Huawei to look beyond Android for a mobile operating system to run on its new phones. We’ve heard Huawei’s side of the story, and the Chinese vendor has since unveiled its own multiplatform OS, but Google recently took to its support forum to answer questions about the ban.

Frontier Airlines has a huge sale on flights today, with some as much as 75% off
People are fans of airlines and become regular flyers for a whole host of reasons. For me, I appreciate the consistency and quality of service on most Delta and Southwest flights I’ve taken. For other people, it might be completely a matter of price — which is one reason some of you may be loyalists to a budget airline like Frontier. The Denver-based low-cost carrier is known for, among other things, rock bottom ticket prices, as well as fare sales and deals offered regularly throughout the year.
Today brings yet another such sale from Frontier, which has a huge promotion going on right now that ends Monday night. Basically, if you think you’d ever consider joining the loyalty program of an airline like Frontier, today is the perfect day to do so. The carrier is offering discounts of up to 75% today for members of its Discount Den loyalty program, which costs $59.99 per year but lets you rack up miles that can be put toward future flights as well as the opportunity to get access to exclusive sale prices.

Apple is working on a revolutionary new all-glass iPhone design with a wraparound display
While smartphones these days are more compelling and powerful than ever before, there’s no denying that smartphone upgrades have become somewhat incremental over the past few years. While this isn’t to say that new smartphone releases aren’t exciting, it does explain why companies like Samsung and Motorola have been trying to position foldable phones as the next big thing.
Apple, meanwhile, has a penchant for patience. In other words, there’s no reason to believe that Apple will jump into the world of foldable phones until there’s evidence that a) consumers want such a form factor and b) the form factor proves to be beneficial. That said, some of the early reviews of the Motorola Razr and the Galaxy Flip Z suggest that foldable phones may be nothing more than a passing fad.

Netflix is finally going to show you the 10 actual most popular shows on the streaming service
Starting today, your Netflix experience is going to look a little different, thanks to a change the streamer is making to the service so that subscribers can have a better idea of what shows and movies are hot on the service (in your country) from one day to the next.
Netflix is adding a Top 10 row to the service’s design, with that row broken in three categories — movies, shows, and overall. In a company blog post today penned by Netflix director of product innovation Cameron Johnson, the company says that the Top 10 row will be specific to your country. It will also be updated daily, and its position within the layout you see will vary depending on how relevant the shows and movies are to you.

2020 iPad Pro design potentially confirmed by new case leak
Many of the Apple leaks in recent weeks have (understandably) revolved around the iPhone 9, as it is expected to be the next major release from the company. That said, it likely won’t be the only Apple hardware to debut in the first half of the year, an assumption supported by a new leak from Ben Geskin on Twitter.

Brand new Android flagship looks like the Galaxy S20, but costs hundreds less
We have no idea why Samsung’s most affordable Galaxy S20 version is so expensive, starting at $999 in the US where only the 5G versions are on sale. The cheapest S20 costs $300 more than the cheapest iPhone 11, the phone that has outsold every single one of its rivals since it was first released back in September. Samsung’s pricing strategy doesn’t make any sense, especially considering its recent earnings report showed a continued decline in its mobile business, and analysts don’t expect S20 sales to help the company reverse course. That’s not to say the S20 is a bad device. You’ll get great hardware that goes to the extreme on the Ultra, and beefed-up camera systems on all three models. The phones look and feel great, especially the smallest of the three. But if you want a phone with top of the line 2020 specs, 5G connectivity, super-fast charging, and a Galaxy S10-like design at a price that’s even cheaper than the iPhone 11, we have just the device for you. And before you ask, no, it’s not the OnePlus 8.

Scientists warn that coronavirus can spread with zero symptoms, which is terrifying
A frightening new chapter was just added to the coronavirus saga, and it could dramatically complicate the fight against the outbreak. A new case study of one specific coronavirus patient reveals the virus’s extremely scary ability to spread even without producing symptoms in those it infects. That means an individual infected with the coronavirus could potentially spread the virus to people over the course of days or even weeks without even realizing he or she is infected with the virus in the first place.
The study, which was published in JAMA, focuses on a 20-year-old Chinese woman who was confirmed to have a coronavirus infection. It is believed that the virus spread from her to several of her family members, but what makes this case particularly interesting and potentially frightening is that the woman never developed any of the telltale symptoms.

If Sony doesn’t announce the PS5 soon, it’ll have some huge problems
Sony and Microsoft have been fighting the next-gen console war for a few months, with each company taking turns at revealing details about their upcoming products. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will have similar hardware, as we learned months ago, and both of them will hit stores ahead of the holidays this year. But neither company was willing to go into more details until December. Just days after I told you Microsoft was already losing the marketing battle against the PS5, Microsoft did the unthinkable: it unveiled the Xbox Series X name and design during a gaming event that wasn’t expected to involve any big announcements like that. Microsoft, which up until that point relied on a generic “Project Scarlett” moniker that hurt the new Xbox more than it helped it, decided to hijack the Game Awards with its bold Series X announcement.
It’s now almost March and Sony is yet to show the final design of the PS5. Not only that, but Microsoft delivered yet another big surprise on Monday, unveiling many of the specs and features of the Xbox Series X. Sony now has no choice but to respond and give us a taste of the PS5 soon. Very soon. Or else.
