Your Netflix bill might be going up by a few dollars, but Netflix isn’t raising prices

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Like it or not, your monthly Netflix bill could go up anywhere from a dollar to a few dollars a month soon, thanks to state governments increasingly hungry for new tax revenue.

Even worse: It’s not just Netflix subscriptions that are in the crosshairs here. Already, around half of all states in the US levy some degree of sales tax on their residents’ subscriptions to streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Spotify. And the states that don’t might start doing so in the near future. To cite just a few examples, state legislatures in Utah, Massachusetts, Illinois, Kansas, and Maine are all studying this issue at the moment, something that Michael Mazerov, senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, describes as a “fast-moving policy development — bills are constantly being introduced on this.”

Want to speed up your home internet and get rid of buffering forever? All it takes is $40

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

You finally get home after a long day of work. Maybe you grab a quick bite to eat, or maybe you skip the food and pour yourself a drink. You plop yourself down on the couch, turn on the TV, and get ready to stream the next episode of your new favorite show that you’ve been waiting all day to see. You settle in as the show begins, and you can’t believe what’s about to happen. Then, all of a sudden, facepalm: The image starts to get all pixelated or even freezes completely as your TV, set-top box, or console struggles to download the video.

It’s so very aggravating, and it happens all the time. What you might not realize, however, is that there’s such an easy way for most people to fix this irksome issue.

A lot of the time, your Wi-Fi connection is the main source of the problem. Sometimes there’s interference, or if you live in a big household it could be a congestion problem. Sometimes it’s an issue with range, and you can get away with a cheap fix by picking up a Wi-Fi range extender. The best-selling TP-Link model on Amazon is on sale right now for just $15.99, or the newer version that’s more than twice as fast can be had for just $22.99. Both of those are about $1 away from all-time low prices.

TP-Link | N300 WiFi Range Extender | Up to 300Mbps | WiFi Extender, Repeater, Wifi Signal Boost…: $15.99

TP-Link AC750 WiFi Range Extender | Covers Up to 1500 Sq.ft and 32 Devices | Dual Band WiFi Rep…: $22.99

If you want an even better fix to the problem, you need to ditch wireless on your device and switch to a wired internet connection. Of course, no one wants to spend hundreds of dollars installing Ethernet, and we would never suggest that. Why bother when you can instantly transform any regular old power outlet into an Ethernet port in about 2 seconds?

Head over to Amazon and check out the TP-Link AV1000 Powerline Ethernet Adapter. It really couldn’t be any simpler. Just plug one box into a power outlet near your router and the other box into an outlet near your TV or computer. Connect to each box separately using a regular old Ethernet cable, and presto! You’ve got yourself a gigabit Ethernet connection that you just installed yourself in seconds. What’s more, this awesome top-rated powerline kit is on sale right now on Amazon for only $39.99.

TP-Link AV1000 Powerline Ethernet Adapter – Gigabit Port, Plug&Play, Power Saving(TL-PA7010 KIT…: $39.99

Check out this review from Amazon to get an idea of what you can look forward to when you get one:

Works well. I have a PS4 Pro and the wifi connection is terrible. It’s sad that Sony is actually aware of this & their only advice is to get a hardline into it. My router is in a different room & it can’t be moved. It wasn’t even that far away. My Apple TV and phone had no problem connecting to it in the living room.

Anyways, I got this because I use Playstation Vue for television as well as the usual streaming services like Netflix and games. I would constantly get kicked off the network & it was becoming unbearable, like literally every hour it would go down or start running super slow. I did some searching on the internet and found that unfortunately, I wasn’t the only person with this problem on their PS4. I got this upon the positive reviews from other PS4 owners.

Set up was super simple. Took all of 30 seconds. The connection has been great so far. My internet speed is 60 down and with this when I tested the network on the PS4 it came in at 40, which is way more acceptable than the 15mb/s download I was getting prior with the PS4 wifi. Some of the reviews here on Amazon say after a few months they start to suck, so I guess we’ll see. Thus far though it has been great and I haven’t dropped my network connection nor has it slowed to a crawl either. I would definitely recommend these for people who are having the same issue I am and can’t move their router.

That’s just one example of an endless number of people who have eliminated the annoyances of Wi-Fi without spending a ton of money to have Ethernet installed in their homes. What are you waiting for?!

Marvel’s biggest leaker knows everything about Spider-Man 3, but he’s not spilling any secrets

Phase 4 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has 14 different components, including six big Marvel movies and eight TV shows that will stream on Disney+ starting in August. The series will be interwoven with Marvel’s overarching storyline, and they’ll tie directly into some of the movies. But it’s the films that will mainly drive the story forward.

We’ve already discussed three of Marvel’s upcoming MCU Phase 4 movies so far, including Black Widow, whose entire plot leaked ahead of its May 1st launch date; The Eternals, which will deliver Marvel’s biggest ensemble cast for a non-Avengers film since Civil War; and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a movie that’s said to deliver the first big plot twist of Phase 4. But there’s another pivotal film in Phase 4, one that we’ll have to wait another year to see. Now, one of Marvel’s biggest leakers said he knows everything about it — but don’t get too excited, because he’s not likely to tell spill any secrets anytime soon.

Best robot vacuum deals you can get right now

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Honestly, it’s pretty upsetting that 2020 is here and we’re not living the futuristic world we’ve been promised in old movies and TV shows. Where’s my flying car? Where are all the human colonies on other planets? And most importantly, where the heck is my army of robots that wait on me hand and foot?

We might have to wait at least another few decades before service robots reach their full potential, but there are already a few different types of robots out there that are ready to do our bidding. Among them, it doesn’t get much better than robot vacuums. People still need to use a traditional vacuum from time to time in order to clean up big messes, but there is no reason whatsoever that you should be vacuuming your own home on a regular basis these days. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the very best robot vacuum cleaners that are on sale right now.

iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum

We’re listing the iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum first because it’s on sale on Monday at its lowest price of 2020, but only until the end of the day. In fact, at $319.99, this is the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this fantastic model if you buy one renewed. It typically drops to $399 during big sales events like Black Friday and it flies off the shelves at that price. $319.99 is an absolute steal even for a renewed one, which is warrantied and guaranteed so you can return it within 90 days for a full refund, no questions asked. You’re nuts if you pass up the chance to get the Roomba 960 at this price.

iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum- Wi-Fi Connected Mapping, Works with Alexa, Ideal for Pet Hair,…: $319.99

iRobot Roomba 614 Robot Vacuum

iRobot was the first breakthrough robot vacuum brand and to this day, the company still makes the very best robot vacuum cleaners you can buy. The downside is that Roomba models are still among the most expensive robot vacuums out there. There are a few affordable Roombas though, and they’re even more accessible when they go on sale. In fact, you can get the Roomba 614 Robot Vacuum right now for less than $250!

iRobot Roomba 614 Robot Vacuum- Good for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard Floors, Self-Charging: $224.00

iRobot Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum

The Roomba 614 is a terrific robot vacuum with strong suction and all the main features you need, but it’s lacking one capability in particular that tons of people look for in a robot vacuum cleaner: Alexa. Setting up a schedule is great and so is being able to control your robot vacuum from your smartphone, but there’s nothing quite like being able to speak a quick voice command and watching your robot vacuum do your bidding. Check out the Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum while it’s $31 off at Amazon. It’s just as powerful as the 614 model thanks to a strong motor and iRobot’s three-stage cleaning system, but you also get support for Amazon’s beloved Alexa voice assistant.

iRobot Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum-Wi-Fi Connectivity, Works with Alexa, Good for Pet Hair, Carpets…: $269.00

Coredy R300 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Both of those Roomba models are great options, but some people want a robotic vacuum that costs even less than that. These days, that doesn’t have to mean missing out on key features like strong suction and self-charging. The Coredy R300 Robot Vacuum Cleaner is a top-rated model that’s currently among the five best-selling robot vacuums on Amazon’s entire site. Incredibly, it’s also on sale right now for only $129.39 thanks to a discount and a coupon you can clip on the Amazon page!

Coredy Robot Vacuum Cleaner, 1400Pa Super-Strong Suction, Ultra Slim, Automatic Self-Charging R…: $129.39

eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Eufy is an increasingly popular brand in the robot vacuum market and the broader smart home space, which makes a lot of sense. After all, it’s owned by Anker, a company known for making excellent products that sell for much less than the competition. The eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S Robot Vacuum Cleaner fits Anker’s M.O. perfectly, offering impressive cleaning capabilities for much less than comparable robot vacuum models — especially right now while there’s a coupon you can clip to save $50.

eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim), Robot Vacuum Cleaner, Super-Thin, 1300Pa Strong Suction, Quiet…: $169.99

iRobot Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal

Finally, for those who want to go all-out and get the very best robot vacuum cleaner money can buy, the iRobot Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum is exactly what you’re looking for. This high-end robot vacuum model features an extremely powerful motor that’s still nice and quiet, and it takes care of pet hair as easily as most lesser models handle dust and debris. It’s got all the bells and whistles you would expect from a high-end Roomba, plus one feature you never saw coming: when the i7+ fills its internal dirt bin, it returns to a special dock and empties itself! This awesome Roomba can run for months on its own without you having to think about it at all, and it’s $200 off right now at Amazon.

Can this hideous fish solve world hunger?

When it comes to solving the world’s hunger problems, we often focus on maximizing crop yields and changes the food producers could make to better serve the ever-growing population of the planet. Researchers from the University of California have a slightly different solution in mind, and it involves a fish you’ve probably never heard of.

Its scientific name is Cebidichthys violaceus, but it’s more casually known as the Monkeyface Prickleback fish. It has a hilarious name. It’s undeniably weird looking. It’s also apparently delicious and could be farmed in mass quantities to feed the planet. Yum!

Amazon’s blowing out networking gear, memory cards, and a fingerprint-secured flash drive – today only

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Amazon’s Gold Box sales are always pretty terrific, but there’s one going on today that’s a cut above the rest. On Monday for one day only, Amazon has slashed the prices of all sorts of popular networking gear as well as memory products like microSD cards, SD cards, and flash drives. In fact, there’s even a great deal on a crazy flash drive that you can’t access unless you unlock it with your fingerprint!

Save up to 30% on Memory and Networking Products: $21.99 – $279.99

Starting with the networking gear, you’ll find everything you need to upgrade your home Wi-Fi network. First and foremost, stop paying that horribly unnecessary modem rental fee to your cable company each month and pick up a NETGEAR Cable Modem CM700 for $71.99 instead of $110. All you have to do is plug it in, follow the instructions in the box to activate it, and then send your old cable modem back to your ISP. Just like that, you’ll save $120 a year on your cable bill!

Those on a budget should take a look at the $127 Linksys EA7500 Dual-Band Wifi Router, which is on sale today for only $99. Did we miss a post-credits scene in Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos snaps again and kills all the awesome Avengers movies on Netflix? He really is the most sinister villain in the history of the 23 movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We get that he was trying to bring balance to the universe by killing off half of all life, thereby removing the strain on resources and theoretically giving the remaining half a better chance to thrive. But what exactly does Thanos have to gain by snapping away all the awesome Avengers flicks that used to be available to stream on Netflix?!

Ahh, so it isn’t Thanos who is to blame for Netflix losing all of its Marvel movies. This time around, it’s Bob Iger who snapped his fingers and made everything disappear. We knew as soon as Disney first announced Disney+ more than a year ago that all of the company’s best content would end up getting pulled from other platforms, and we watched it begin to unfold this past November when Disney+ first launched. Now that the service is in full swing, all of Disney’s remaining popular content is making its way back home. Unfortunately for Netflix subscribers who aren’t also coughing up more cash each month for Disney+, that means we’re perilously close to the end of the road for the last few Avengers movies that are still available to stream.

If you’re like most people, you know that Sony and Bose make the best wireless noise cancelling headphones out there. The Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones and Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones are as good as it gets, and Bose even has a new higher-end model with better sound quality. Of course, everyone also knows that those headphones are all extremely expensive, and not everyone is willing to spend $350 or $400 on headphones even if they are the best. Of course, that’s why the BGR Deals team is here.

If you have your heart set on getting your hands and ears on the best of the best and you want to save some money in the process, there are some terrific sales right now on Amazon that most people don’t know about. Sure, Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are at an all-time low of $218.99 right now instead of $350, but that price is only available on the rose gold color. If you want the black model that’s far more popular and a bit less ostentatious, you’ll have to pay full price — or you can snag a renewed pair of Bose QC35 II headphones right now and save about $100!

As for the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones that many people think are even better than Bose, they’re currently at all the top retailers for the full price of $350. What most people don’t realize though, is that you can get the international Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones model on Amazon and save $100 in either black or silver. They’re the exact same headphones but they don’t come with a manufacturer warranty. They are warrantied by the seller though, so this is a great way to save a ton of money.

Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones

All of those deals are terrific, but $250 or so is still a lot of money to spend on headphones. Noise cancelling technology has come so far in recent years though that you can get much less expensive headphones that still have great sound quality and impressive noise cancellation. Our new favorites are the TaoTronics TT-BH047 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones that retail for $49.99 on Amazon. They feature excellent ANC, impressive sound quality, and a very impressive 24 hours of battery life or 20 hours with ANC enabled. That’s obviously more than enough for even the longest flights. Use the coupon code HDQX5Z9Y between now and March 3, and you can get these awesome ANC headphones for just $25.99! That’s a steal, and there’s a good chance they’ll sell out before then so hurry up or you might miss out.

Ever since Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards last December, we’ve been anxiously awaiting a deeper dive into features and specifications of the next-gen console. As you can see in the image above, the five key features of the Xbox Series X that Microsoft wants to highlight are 12 teraflops of graphics performance, variable-rate shading, hardware-accelerated DirectX raytracing, the ability to quick resume multiple games at once, and Smart Delivery to ensure you get the right version of a game.
