The box of a new, never-before-seen Motorola handset that has model number XT1096 has been photographed in the wild, Android Central says. The mystery device is sporting Verizon branding and is definitely a pre-release unit, although it’s not clear what kind of smartphone is inside the box. Finally good news for parents — a well-constructed research study in a leading pediatric journal finds that children playing 1 to 3 hours of video games a day are more well adjusted than their non-gaming peers. Crucially, the mental health benefits go only to kids who play more than an hour a day. Playing just half an hour is not associated with either positive or negative effects.

The tuner car scene is still alive and well across Canada, as proven by our recent coverage of events including Fitted Lifestyle 2014, Importfest Toronto and now JDM Fest in St-Eustache, Quebec. While the term JDM refers exclusively to Japanese imports, the show still welcomed a number of domestic and Korean (KDM?) performance cars to participate in this huge car show which also included several track events with Gymkhana, drifting demos and racing action all taking place.

Although we live in the era of environmentalists and alternative transportation, enthusiast driven events like JDM Fest continue to show that custom cars are far from being buried. With several hundred cars in attendance and spectators packing into the stands, JDM Fest and the many car shows in Canada like it are about celebrating the automotive passion and custom car culture that brings us all together.

Click here for highlights from JDM Fest, with over 200+ photos taken throughout the day.

It looks like GameStop’s much-maligned used game trade-in rates are about to get the overhaul they so desperately need. According to leaked internal documents obtained by Kotaku, GameStop will be implementing a new, simplified pricing structure on August 18th which should eliminate the need to put money toward preorders or subscribe to Game Informer in order to get the best deal on a trade-in. Instead, GameStop will buy your games at a flat rate which should only fluctuate depending on whether or not you’re a member of the Power Up Rewards program or if you want cash instead of credit.

UGH: The Sprint/T-Mobile merger just got a new lease on life

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The merger between Sprint and T-Mobile may be doomed but it won’t be because T-Mobile decided to spurn Sprint and accept a competing offer from French carrier Iliad. Bloomberg is reporting that T-Mobile is planning to turn down Iliad’s proposal to buy the “Uncarrier,” which presumably means that it would prefer to stick to its original plan to merge with Sprint.

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Although Samsung just loves to release a huge number of different versions of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone every year, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A really looks like something special. If you want proof of this, head on over to AnandTech, which has just run a series of tests on the Galaxy S5 LTE-A and has found that its battery overall performs even better than the regular Galaxy S5’s even though it has to support both a much higher display resolution and a radio that delivers much faster data speeds than the standard LTE radio found in the Galaxy S5.
