Here’s how Amazon is going to compete with Spotify and Pandora
No one was overwhelming impressive by Amazon’s lackluster streaming music offering, Prime Music, when it launched out of nowhere early last month, but the company isn’t giving up on it yet. How to make long flights tolerable for just $60
Flying is amazing. You can start your day in Russia, and finish it in Reno. You can travel in relative comfort at over 500 miles per hour. Of course, the operative word here is relative. Few things are sweeter than figuring out a way to cruise in business class as you cross an ocean or two, but if I’m honest, it’s pretty impractical for the vast majority of humans. So, do you squeeze yourself into an impossibly tight seat for 13 hours to get from Atlanta to Seoul, or do you stay home and spend the day clicking through Google Images?
You go.
I’ve endured my fair share of excruciatingly long flights in economy class, and there’s really no redeeming quality to the experience. The only benefit is that you arrive somewhere different. In fact, a quick Google search for “how to survive long flights” yields page upon page of tips from here, there, and yonder. I suppose I’m adding yet another to the pile.

Windows 9: One OS to rule all devices
Unlike Apple, which thinks merging iOS and OS X would be a “waste of energy,” Microsoft wants one single Windows operating system to be available to all its device users, whether they’re Windows Phone handset owners, Xbox fans, or rely on a Windows computer for work or play. Business Insider reports that CEO Satya Nadella said on the company’s FQ4 earnings conference call that a future version of Windows will merge all current Windows versions, becoming an “operating system that covers all screen sizes.”

Lingenfelter Performance Package Series for 2014 Corvette Stingray
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) has released its expertly tuned performance package series for the new, 2014 Corvette Stingray, with power starting at 550 horsepower and reaching as high as 750 horsepower with forced induction.
The seventh-generation Corvette’s new 6.2-liter “LT1″ engine features technologies that include direct injection, variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation. With calibration of this all-new control system key, Lingenfelter engineers developed tuning for the C7 by relying on their direct-injected architecture expertise gained in-house through Lingenfelter’s 2014 GM truck program and through consultancy work for other OEM suppliers.
“The 2014 Corvette Stingray is one of the most exciting new cars in years and the Lingenfelter team wasted no time in turning out a series of highly-anticipated performance upgrades that deliver uncompromising drivability in addition to horsepower,” said Ken Lingenfelter, CEO/Owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. “We’re privileged to have such talented engineers on our team, whose level of passion for performance drives them to produce reliable, road-ready systems.”
Lingenfelter’s Chief Engineer Graham Behan led the calibration charge on the new control system, allowing the greater airflow enabled by the CNC-ported cylinder heads and higher-lift camshaft to be converted into more power at the rear wheels. With years of proficiency in tuning GM’s LS engines, Behan’s performance-engineering resume includes contributing to the development of the advanced “LT5″ engine, which powered the landmark 1990 Corvette ZR-1.
Lingenfelter offers the following standard engine packages for the 2014 C7 Corvette:
* C7 Corvette LT1 376 ci N/A Engine Package — Rated at 550 horsepower; includes CNC heads and camshaft; keeps AFM and variable cam systems operational.
* C7 Corvette LT1 376 ci N/A Engine Package — Rated at 600 horsepower; includes CNC heads, aggressive camshaft and headers.
* C7 Corvette LT1 N/A 417 ci Engine Package — Rated at 650 horsepower; includes the 600 horsepower package, a stroker crank, connecting rods and forged pistons.
* C7 Corvette LT1 376 ci Supercharged Engine Package — Rated at 640 horsepower; this is the base supercharger package installed on a stock engine.
* C7 Corvette LT1 376 ci Supercharged Engine Package — Rated at 700 horsepower; includes CNC heads, camshaft and supercharger.
* C7 Corvette LT1 417 ci Supercharged Engine Package — Rated at 750 horsepower; includes CNC heads, camshaft, stroker crank, connecting rods, forged pistons, supercharger and upgraded fuel system.
Initially Lingenfelter also will offer higher-power C7 packages as custom builds, some of which will be added to the “standard” package list, such as the twin turbo application.
Complementing upgrades for the Lingenfelter “LT1″ Corvette Stingray will include higher-performance wheels and tires, higher-capacity brake systems, suspension upgrades and performance-oriented interior and exterior components. Tire offerings include an expanded selection of Continental Tire’s ExtremeContact DW line with popular Corvette tire sizes for the Z06 and ZR1.

No one really cares about the Amazon Prime price increase
When Amazon first announced the price increase from $79 to $99 for Prime memberships, everyone was up in arms. Looking back at the reaction of Amazon customers following the announcement, you might have thought we’d be in the middle of a worldwide boycott of Amazon Prime about now, but it appears that the fallout was much less eventful than many had predicted. On Wednesday, CIRP released a report which shows that even after the price increase, 95% of U.S. Prime members still indicate that they will either “probably” or “definitely” renew their membership when it runs out.

The one way Xbox One is crushing PS4
Sony took advantage of Microsoft’s early missteps to ensure that the PlayStation 4 would come out on top as the new console generation kicked off, but after being on the market for over half a year, one surprising disparity has begun to arise in the Xbox One’s favor. Despite a steady stream of updates on both consoles, the PS4 has gained very little in the way of new features while the Xbox One is loaded with functionality it didn’t have at launch.
