10 Netflix alternatives that stream movies and TV shows for free
Netflix just released its list of March 2020 movie releases and series releases, reminding us yet again why it is far and away the best streaming service month can buy. Next month alone, Netflix will release a staggering 55 different original movies, shows, and specials over the course of March. What’s more, that doesn’t even cover all of the content being added to Netflix’s catalog from other studios. There are 33 new titles being added to Netflix just on March 1st, and then another 13 movies and full seasons of shows spread out over the course of the month.
It goes without saying that if you have Netflix, you always have something to watch. In fact, there’s almost too much great content to watch, which is why we put together several roundups each month sharing recommendations of movies and shows you should try. Our most recent roundup showcased 10 movies and shows on Netflix that you might’ve missed in February, and we’ve received a ton of great feedback so check it out if you missed it. As great as Netflix is, however, not everyone wants to pay $13 or $16 each month to access the service. Even the $9 Basic plan adds up if you’re on a budget, and the plan itself is too limiting for most people to bother with. If you’ve been looking for great alternatives to Netflix that don’t cost quite as much money, we’re going to do you one better: We’ve rounded up 10 Netflix alternatives that let you stream movies and TV shows absolutely free.

The Pixel 4a will probably have a much better design than the Pixel 5
Google is widely expected to launch two smartphone series this year, including the mid-range Pixel 4a that should be unveiled in May and the Pixel 5 flagship that’s set to launch in October. While it’s only February, we’ve got leaks for both devices already, and the conclusion is clear when it comes to design. The ugly Pixel 4 (image above) will be succeeded by much better-looking handsets. However, the Pixel 4a will have a much better screen design than the Pixel 5, and we have a new render of the upcoming budget Pixel for you.

Galaxy S20 preorders are live: Here’s everything you need to know
Samsung last week unveiled the phones we’ve been discussing for the better part of the year, including the Galaxy Z Flip foldable and the new Galaxy S20 flagship series. The Z Flip was the first handset to hit stores, going on sale last Friday. The S20 preorders went live on Friday, with Samsung and its partners expected to ship the handset on March 6th. All three Galaxy S20 versions, including the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra, come with 5G support, and you won’t be able to score a 4G-only variant in the US. That also means all of them are more expensive than we’d have expected, with prices starting at $999 for the cheapest option. We’ve already told you that it might be a good idea to wait a few more months for the prices to go down. It always happens with Android phones, and last year’s S10 series proved price cuts arrive a lot sooner than expected. We’ve also shown you a few deals that make Samsung’s prices much easier to swallow, especially if you’re looking to trade-in an old device fro the brand new phones. But carriers also have their own S20 deals in place that might get you additional savings right now.

This hilarious deepfake of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk in a ‘Star Trek’ episode blew me away
“No other specimen has shown your … adaptability …”
I’m not ashamed to admit it. I’m a sucker for a good, quality deepfake video — one where the entertainment value is by and large the purpose for it, mind you — and today I think I’m going to have to go ahead and crown a winner. The best one I’ve ever seen, to be more specific, and the one I’ve gotten a kick out of the most. I’m referring to the hilariously faked footage you can watch at the top of this post, which inserts Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk into a reto clip from the Star Trek TV series.
Entertaining? Check. Impressive production? Check. Realistic-looking? Obviously, but you be the judge and just go ahead and cast your eyes a few inches above these words and settle on that image of Jeff Bezos’ face superimposed onto the giant, vein-y head of an alien. The clip even plays with the pop culture exaggeration of Bezos’ many habits and personality quirks, which makes it hardly any stretch at all to imagine him as the alien being he appears to be here, marvelling at the strange behavior of the human he sees standing before him. Alien Bezos can’t seem to get over the fact that the human (USS Enterprise Captain Christopher Pike) doesn’t appreciate the captivity the alien wants to place him in. Even though it’s “pleasant and benevolent.” Almost as if he’s grasping to understand why he won’t submit himself to membership in Amazon Prime. Hey, wait … Star Trek’s “Prime” directive … it all fits!

Watch a violinist play her instrument while undergoing brain surgery
The brain is a complicated organ, and when surgeons are tasked with removing dangerous brain tumors they have to be incredibly careful not to cause unintended damage. For Dagmar Turner, a 53-year-old tumor patient at King’s College Hospital in London, ensuring that she could continue to enjoy her passion for playing the violin, that meant demonstrating her musical talents for the surgical team as they were performing their operation.
In Turner’s case, the tumor the doctors were targeting happened to be near her right frontal lobe. That’s a tricky area to operate on, as removal or damage to certain brain structures could cause a loss of fine motor skills. That’s where the violin came in.

Supreme hypebeasts love the company so much they’re paying big bucks for Supreme-branded Oreos
I remember the good old days, back when I was a kid and there was a grand total of one flavor of Oreo cookies to enjoy. The classic white icing was sandwiched between two chocolate cookies. It was a simple yet brilliant formula that turned Oreo into a snack food powerhouse — and which seems downright quaint today, when you stroll down grocery store aisles and pass half a dozen or more different flavors of the beloved cookie brand depending on where you’re shopping. You might see everything from birthday cake-flavored Oreos to Chocolate Oreo Thins; Peanut Butter Oreos; Red Velvet Oreos; Carrot Cake Oreos; and so many more different flavor, size, and filling variations.
Here’s a new one I didn’t see coming, though — an Oreo that makes the ultimate fashion statement.

Hackers are taking advantage of coronavirus fears to spread malware
Whenever a tragedy strikes, it doesn’t take long for scammers to come crawling out of the woodwork with some type of enterprising scheme designed to prey on the emotions of well-meaning individuals. Over the past few months alone, for example, we’ve seen scammers run fake fundraisers for the brush fires in Australia and sell counterfeit Kobe Bryant memorabilia.
In light of all that, it’s perhaps not surprising at all that some scammers are now taking advantage of the persistent fear surrounding the coronavirus to spread malware to unsuspecting individuals.

Japan is going to bring a piece of Mars’ moon Phobos back to Earth
With groups like NASA and the European Space Agency focusing largely on missions to explore Earth’s moon and Mars, the Japanese space agency JAXA is taking a chance on a different kind of mission. According to reports out of Japan, JAXA is currently planning on a trip to two Martian moons, and they’re evening planning on snatching a sample from the Martian moon Phobos and sending it back to Earth.
As Ars Technica reports, the mission will cost around $417 million and has a tentative launch window of 2024. If successful, it will be the very first time that humans have ever fetched a sample of a moon orbiting another planet.

Honda’s new Civic Type R is one heck of a gorgeous car
Honda’s Civic Type R has consistently turned heads and, as Honda likes to tout, earned itself “near-universal” acclaim since its US launch in 2017 — picking up awards like being named a 2018 AUTOMOBILE magazine All-Star and a 2018 Editor’s Choice by Car and Driver. That’s in addition to the stellar reputation the car has garnered from racing professionals who’ve taken the Civic Type R TCR to the Pirelli World Challenge series along with other major Touring Car series.
Next week, the Civic Type R’s 2020 edition will start arriving at Honda dealerships in the US (on February 28, to be exact), and the new model will bring a slew of updates that include everything from tweaks to the car’s ride and handling, braking performance, and engine cooling. The 2020 Type R also sports freshened-up exterior and interior stylings, standard Honda Sensing® safety and driver-assistive technology, as well as a gorgeous new Boost Blue exterior color. And in related news, Honda is also releasing its first-ever performance datalogging app this spring that will be available exclusively for use with the Type R.
