How the PS4 took a lead over the Xbox One before it even existed
One of the keys to the early success of the PlayStation 4 was its release date. When Sony took the stage in February last year to reveal the PS4, everyone was a bit taken aback, Sony included. Speaking at the Develop Conference in Brighton, SCEI President Andrew House admitted that although Sony wasn’t prepared to show off the new console at the time, the company knew that it wanted to be the first on the scene.

Surprise: You can have an ‘iWatch’ right now
Apple’s upcoming first foray into the emerging wearables market is expected to launch this coming October, and numerous reports suggest it will be called the “iWatch.” With a focus on notifications as well as health and fitness tracking, the device will seemingly be a lot like smartwatches that are already on the market, but likely with some added design flair that only Apple can deliver. Of course, there will hopefully also be some extra functionality mixed in, considering the fact that current smartwatches don’t offer very much in the way of truly compelling features.
But if you happen to have an Android Wear watch already or if you’re buying one soon, you don’t have to wait to get an “iWatch.”

Microsoft’s new CEO explains why dumping the Xbox would be incredibly stupid
It’s sort of sad that Microsoft has to defend keeping around its most popular consumer product to Wall Street analysts, but apparently it does. Late last year, Normura analyst Rick Sherlund and Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen called on Microsoft to dump the Xbox because it was a persistent money loser for the firm. However, in his new manifesto sent out to Microsoft employees, CEO Satya Nadella spends a good chunk of time defending the Xbox’s place in Microsoft’s product line and explains why keeping it around is hugely important to the company’s future in consumer electronics.

Here’s even more proof Apple wants strong sapphire glass on the iPhone 6
Numerous leaks have already detailed Apple’s plans to use strong sapphire glass displays on its 2014 iPhone models, although the company is yet to confirm any of them. However, AppleInsider has discovered three patent applications filed in early 2013 that prove Apple is really exploring ways of increasing the durability of its iPhones, with the patents describing means of reinforcing sapphire glass for front and back panels. They also describe a means of using sapphire glass for other iPhone components and “implanting” product details within sapphire glass covers.
