Yo is easily the stupidest $1 million app the world has ever seen, but it’s at least spawned some amusing knockoff projects. Or more precisely, it’s spawned one amusing knockoff: Yo Hodor. As Business Insider points out, there’s a new app out there that takes the basic Yo concept and applies it to Hodor, the lovable giant from HBO’s hugely popular Game of Thrones series who’s known for saying only one word: “Hodor.”

In fact, 9to5Google has noted that the very first standalone apps for Android Wear have already begun appearing on the Google Play store.

The PlayStation 4 took an early lead last fall, partially because of Microsoft’s PR stumbles and partially because of a promising lineup of exclusives scheduled to release in the following months, but Sony isn’t giving Microsoft a chance to catch up. The Wall Street Journal shares the latest data from research firm iSpot, which shows that Sony has spent nearly $60 million on TV advertisements for the PS4 since the beginning of 2014.

The polarized reaction to Windows 8 showed why Microsoft is finding itself in a tight spot: How can it move Windows into the touch-centric world of smartphones and tablets without alienating its core desktop users who still interact with their computers primarily with a mouse and keyboard? The answer, as reported by ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, is to redesign the OS to make Windows more context aware and make it behave differently depending on the form factor it’s being used on.

Developers and savvy fans have already gotten their hands on the early builds of iOS 8, but there’s still plenty we don’t know about Apple’s next big update to its mobile platform. Over the weekend, iOS 8 user Gabriel Nevado documented on Vine his use of a Safari extension made by 1Password that allowed him to log in to his Amazon account with Touch ID. Apple has stated in the past that the functionality of Touch ID will continue to expand, but this is the first we’ve seen of the fingerprint sensor’s advanced capabilities in action on iOS 8. Logging in to your most visited websites is about to become easier than ever — hopefully the security measures can keep up. Check out the Vine below.

One of the most unusual crowd-funding projects out there is what is being billed as “the smallest high-end PC in the world.” The device is called Silent Power and its most notable feature is a slab of copper foam that’s on top of the computer. All the hottest elements of the computer are placed next to the foam slab, which sucks up and dissipates heat without need of air or liquid cooling systems. The Silent Power’s manufacturer claims that the computer never heats up above 50 degrees centigrade, or 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Dimensions of the device are 15 x 13 x 7 centimeters.

Google recently showed off new prototype tablet and smartphone hardware that was part of an intriguing endeavor dubbed “Project Tango.” Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects team has been working on the project for more than a year now, and it is focused on creating smartphones and tablets with a complex series of sensors that are capable of using a camera to quickly scan and build a 3D map of the interior of any room. One obvious use case is to create an indoor version of Google Maps Street View, but a third-party developer has put together what may be one of the most incredible mobile apps we have ever seen, and it shows us how useful Tango can be.

The latest untethered jailbreak is already compatible with iOS 7.1.2

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Just over an hour after Apple seeded iOS 7.1.2 to the public, 9to5Mac confirmed that the Pangu untethered jailbreak originally released for iOS 7.1.1 still works on iOS devices. The jailbreak was released after Apple had already begun seeding the 7.1.1 update to carriers, so the chance that the company would have been able to combat a jailbreak in the interim was unlikely anyway.
