A rundown of the best new iPhone features Apple introduced with the new iOS 13.4 beta
Apple earlier today rolled out the second developer beta of iOS 13.4, an update which includes a number of intriguing new features. While iOS updates this far removed from September have historically consisted of bug fixes and security enhancements, Apple with iOS 13 is taking a more measured approach. In other words, rather than just roll out a big feature-dump with the first iteration of iOS 13 and then pick up the pieces later, Apple this year is holding off on some features until they’re a bit more polished.

Watch hackers manipulate a Tesla on Autopilot into accelerating to 85 MPH
A group of researchers from McAfee recently demonstrated how manipulating a speed limit sign can cause a Tesla in Autopilot mode to behave erratically. Specifically, researchers placed a tiny sticker on a 35 MPH speed limit sign and, as a result, both a 2016 Tesla Model X and Model S in Autopilot mode interpreted the speed limit to be 85 MPH. In turn, both vehicles started to accelerate to 85 MPH.
The experiment, which was obviously conducted in a controlled environment, helps illustrate some of the inherent challenges associated with achieving Level 5 autonomous driving. While the underlying technology can improve by leaps and bounds — and it has over the past few years — there’s no way to fully account for a range of external factors. Notably, the margin for error when driving around in a vehicle that weighs thousands of pounds is simply too small — and the risk of injury too great — to make fully self-driving cars practical, in my opinion.

Chipotle BOGO commemorates 40th anniversary of Team USA’s ‘Miracle on Ice’
Forty years ago this weekend, Team USA pulled off a stunning upset over the Soviet hockey team during the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York — one of the greatest moments in sports history that’s often referred to by its nickname as the ‘Miracle on Ice.’
To mark the occasion, Chipotle has decided to give hockey fans as well as anyone who wants to honor the milestone a way to score some free food from the fast-casual chain. It’s Chipotle’s “Wear Your Hockey Jersey” promotion that will offer a BOGO (Buy One Get One) free deal on entrees or kid’s meals to diners who simply show up to one of the chain’s restaurants on Friday while wearing a hockey jersey.

iPhone 9 release date in jeopardy due to coronavirus outbreak
All signs point to Apple launching a new iPhone at an affordable price point in the coming weeks, but the coronavirus outbreak may have a thing or two to say about the launch timing before all is said and done. Sources told the Nikkei Asian Review that Apple will “likely miss its schedule” for the mass production of the as-yet-unannounced iPhone 9. Furthermore, low stock of existing models could be an issue “until April or longer.”
As multiple reports have claimed, Apple’s original plan was to release a cheaper iPhone (which has been referred to as both the iPhone SE 2 and the iPhone 9) this spring. Mass production was set to begin by the end of February, but sources now say Apple might have to wait until March to get the ball rolling.

NASA’s Juno probe reveals water in Jupiter’s atmosphere
For scientists studying Jupiter, there’s plenty to see. The gas giant has a wealth of personality, and its swirling storms and colorful streams of gas provide researchers with a lot to observe. One aspect of the massive planet that isn’t often talked about is its amount of water, but new data from NASA’s Juno orbiter is helping to shed some light on that.
As NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory explains in a new blog post, a new study published in Nature Astronomy using data from Juno suggests that Jupiter’s atmosphere includes around 0.25% water, at least near the planet’s equator.

Windows 10 update may have deleted some of your personal data… again
Remember when a Windows 10 update came with an incredibly annoying side effect: deleting your user data? Microsoft has somehow managed to do it again, although it doesn’t appear to be as problematic as the first time. The most recent security update, KB4532693, is to blame, and Microsoft has already acknowledged the issue.

Here’s what scientists will do next in search for alien life
Astronomers have plenty to see when they gaze deep into space. Depending on their objectives, some focus on distant galaxies or nearby stars, while others hunt for exoplanets or even objects within our own solar system. The researchers from the SETI Institute have a very specific aim, and it’s right in the name: “Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.”
Now, in a new agreement between the SETI Institute and the VLA (Very Large Array) observatory in New Mexico, scientists will scan the entire sky for hints of extraterrestrial civilizations. The project will be daunting and will require the use of 28 massive radio telescopes, but it might be our best chance yet at finding intelligent life in the cosmos.

This is the most disturbing Pixel 5 rumor we’ve heard so far
Google owns the most popular mobile operating system in the world, but it’s still somehow unable to make smartphones that people line up to buy. The Nexus and Pixel phones have hardly been best-selling devices despite Google’s significant progress over the years. But just because Google can’t come up with an iPhone or Galaxy S equivalent that the masses want doesn’t mean it can afford to stop making high-end Pixel handsets.
Google phones are the only way the company can express its true vision for Android. With every new Android release, it’s Pixel phones that show the world what the new OS version is all about, and they’re the only phones that receive every update the moment it becomes available. Without a Pixel handset, Google would be stuck waiting for vendors to update their devices to the newest version of Android whenever they can manage it, and risk Android trailing iOS even more when it comes to adoption of the latest OS version. With that in mind, you’re certainly not going to appreciate this new Pixel 5 rumor, especially if you’re a loyal user of the series.
