Google doesn’t always launch major new versions of Android at Google I/O but we now have confirmation that it’s going to do so this year. In a long profile of Google Android boss Sundar Pichai at Bloomberg Businessweek, the publication reveals toward the very end of the piece that Pichai “will preview the next [Android] release (Lollipop? Lemonhead?) for the first time at I/O rather than waiting until the fall.” Last year we had to wait until the fall to get our first look at Android 4.4 KitKat but Pichai explains to Bloomberg Businessweek that the company has decided to push things up this year because “I want the world to understand what we are doing sooner.” We’ll be here to bring you all the latest news on Android and other exciting Google announcements when Google I/O kicks off Wednesday afternoon.

Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera

Perhaps it’s fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It’s short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn’t mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-litre) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his ’71 to show why it rocks.

There’s a regular format to Jay Leno’s Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer’s guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.

No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn’t a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Still, once out on the road, it all makes sense with that rumbling V8 and those Italian supercar looks. Scroll down to watch and learn a lot more about this uncompromising ’70s performance car.

The world is full of truly stupid would-be criminals but one Minnesota man might have just taken the crown for the title of World’s Stupidest Thief. CBS Minnesota reports that police arrested 26-year-old Nicholas Wig for allegedly burglarizing a home in South St. Paul on June 19th after his victim discovered that Wig had used his computer to log into his Facebook page and never logged out before leaving. When police arrived to arrest Wig, they also found that he was wearing his victim’s wrist watch, which obviously won’t help with any potential defense.

AT&T CEO makes the worst possible argument for the DirecTV merger

Is AT&T actually trying to convince people to support the DirecTV merger or is this all part of a competition with Comcast and Time Warner Cable to see which major proposed merger will generate the most public hostility? AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday to make the case that his company’s proposed merger with DirecTV will be good for consumers. And right off the bat, Stephenson made a highly dubious argument that we’d have a hard time believing was real if it hadn’t been relayed to us through AT&T’s own Twitter account.

It has become a forgone conclusion that each year’s iPhone launch is the biggest smartphone launch to date. With Apple’s current record sitting at a staggering 9 million units sold through the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c’s first weekend of availability, however, this year’s new iPhone models have a steep hill to climb.

A dozen independently confirmed reports point to two completely redesigned iPhone 6 models launching in 2014, so it indeed appears as though Apple is positioning itself for another record launch —but it can’t hurt to have a little data to support that notion. According to the results of a new survey released on Tuesday, Apple is definitely in store for a huge iPhone 6 launch this fall.

T-Mobile’s various “Uncarrier” initiatives have done an unbelievable job of drawing new business to the nation’s No. 4 wireless carrier. The scrappy company actually managed to outpace its giant rivals in net subscriber additions, which is a scenario most industry watchers would have laughed at a few short years ago. As it turns out, however, one of T-Mobile’s most widely covered Uncarrier moves has brought about a new problem, and it has caused one used gadget buying service to reject all future attempts from potential customers looking to sell T-Mobile handsets.

BlackBerry loyalty hits a new low in the UK as users switch to iPhones

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

BlackBerry’s stock may be on the rise, up 36% so far in 2014 as of Monday’s close, but brand loyalty in the United Kingdom has seemingly hit an all-time low. According to a new note from CashForPhonesComparison.com, which compares more than 35 used mobile phone buying services in an effort to get customers the best price on their trade-ins before they upgrade to a new handset, only about 8% of consumers who use the site to trade in a used BlackBerry say they plan to purchase another BlackBerry device.

Instead, the overwhelming majority — a staggering 66% — say they intend to upgrade from a BlackBerry device to an iPhone.
