Galaxy Z Flip’s first big controversy concerns that ultra-thin foldable glass: What you need to know
Several leaks said that Samsung would use a special Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) on top of the Galaxy Z Flip’s OLED screen instead of plastic, and Samsung confirmed it all on stage last week during its first Unpacked event of the year. The Z Flip is Samsung’s first foldable that features a foldable glass display, which is a significant milestone for foldable devices. But now that the Z Flip has reached consumers, the first screen durability tests are out, and they don’t paint a pretty picture. The Galaxy Z Flip seems to be just as prone to scratching and piercing as its predecessor, according to a recent video. Moreover, videos emerged of Z Flip units that cracked at the crease right out of the box, which is definitely not what you’d want from your foldable phone. However, it’s not all bad news as Samsung’s UTG isn’t just marketing. The Galaxy Fold’s successor has a much better build quality, and there’s a reason why that screen is still susceptible to damage.

This new ‘Matrix 4’ set footage will both excite and terrify you
San Francisco residents and visitors have been flooding social media in recent days as they rush to capture sightings of Keanu Reeves — along with other actors and crew who’ve been filming parts of the upcoming Matrix 4 movie there, in the city’s financial district. The 55 year-old-actor who’s once again playing Neo in the hotly-anticipated Matrix sequel has been spotted everywhere from the House of Nanking eatery in San Francisco’s Jackson Square district to jumping off of high-rises downtown and riding a motorcycle down a closed-off city street.
It’s not just sightings like these or Keanu’s frequent stops to take selfies with fans that have generated palpable enthusiasm, however. Some of the set footage that’s been captured is truly incredible, such as this video below that was posted to Reddit over the weekend. It appears to show two stunt doubles, presumably standing in for Keanu’s Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’s Trinity, jumping off of a 43-story skyscraper at the intersection of Montgomery and Market streets in San Francisco. Check out the footage below, which shows one of the stunt actors grabbing the hand of the other before they stop in mid-air and are slowly pulled up and back into position on top of the high-rise.

Nobody knows what’s going on with the colossal nearby star Betelgeuse
One of the more interesting astronomy stories that came out at the tail end of 2019 was the bizarre behavior of the nearby star known as Betelgeuse. It sits somewhere between 520 and 650 light-years from Earth, and that’s extremely close in the grand scheme of things, making its behavior of particular interest to us here on Earth.
Months ago, scientists alerted us to the fact that Betelgeuse is getting dimmer. This massive star is currently a red supergiant, and the fact that it appeared to be dimming hinted at a number of possible outcomes, including a possible collapse and supernova explosion. Now, with several more weeks of observations under their belt, researchers have discovered that Betelgeuse isn’t just dimming, it’s dimming in a very bizarre way.

Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Feb. 16)
A fairly quiet week this week in terms of new releases on Netflix. The only returning Netflix original that I recognize is The Chef Show, which stars Jon Favreau as he cooks food with famous chefs and actors alike. There are more than enough cooking shows on Netflix, but Favreau is a great host, making this one of the best.
We’re losing nearly as much as we’re gaining, with Gangs of New York and Lincoln are on the way out. If you missed either of these Best Picture nominees, this is your last chance to catch them on the streaming service.

A big leak might’ve just spoiled two new Avengers coming to the MCU
I’ve often explained why I think Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the pivotal movie of MCU Phase 4, but that’s not the only Phase 4 flick that will feature a terrific ensemble cast. The other premieres later this year, and it’ll easily be the biggest MCU film that’s not part of the Avengers franchise when it comes to superhero count. The Eternals, out on November 6th, will feature one of the most impressive casts since Captain America: Civil War — and we’re looking at brand new heroes as well as new villains in this one. But it turns out that two of them might be more important to the story going forward than the rest, and they could very well end up in other Marvel pictures down the road, Avengers 5 included.

This sounds like the plot of a bad movie, but Trump may have had his DNA stolen
A few days from now, at a still-to-be-announced venue in New York City, a strange auction from a mysterious group called the Earnest Project is set to take place. The group will be auctioning off a portfolio of items collected during the 2018 World Economic Forum at Davos, items that range from utensils like glassware, consumables like cigarettes and paper cups, and even biological samples including hair and fluid swabs collected from restrooms and other sites within the Davos event.
Presumably, you can guess from that what the point of the event is. The idea here is to sell off items containing the DNA of celebrities and VIPs who attended the event, which included everyone from Elton John and George Soros to the leader of the free world himself, President Trump. The event is set for February 20 at 5:00 p.m., and the group touts itself as “a leader in ethical VVIP genomic data and artifact acquisition and we’re proud of our commitment to expand data capture further into the global commons.”

Getting rid of airplane contrails could help save the planet
When it comes to vehicles that have a serious impact on the environment, we all immediately think of gas-burning cars and trucks, but passenger aircraft can have a significant impact on the environment as well. One way that passenger jets can impact our planet is in producing those wispy white lines called contrails that we so often see streaking across the sky.
Now, a new research effort focusing on reducing the environmental impact of such aircraft has revealed that some very small changes could have a huge positive impact, reducing the damage done by passenger aircraft.
