NASA needs to decide which of these four missions is the most awesome
NASA has a lot of balls in the air right now, so to speak. From the Mars 2020 rover mission to the anticipated return of humans to the Moon in 2024, there’s a lot going on at the US space agency these days. Despite that, NASA is always looking to the future and planning for missions even farther down the road.
But NASA has finite resources, and it can’t do absolutely everything it wants to, no matter how exciting its would-be missions seem. In a new blog post today, NASA lays out a handful of new missions that it is currently considering. Each of these relatively low-cost missions would last for around nine months, but choosing between them isn’t going to be easy.

These movies are crushing it right now on Netflix and other streamers
It’s been almost a week now since the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony was held, and one of the storylines that emerged from it is that Netflix was one of the awards show’s biggest losers. It entered the ceremony with 24 awards, the most of any single studio, but the streamer ended up walking away with only 2 awards. One, in the best supporting actress category for Laura Dern’s performance in Marriage Story, and another for best documentary feature, which went to American Factory. The latter was the first release from Higher Ground Productions, the production company led by Barack and Michelle Obama.
Netflix tends to garner the most attention for its seemingly endless library of TV content, but it’s easy to forget the streamer also has a stellar lineup of quality original movies that subscribers won’t find anywhere else. The service wants to increasingly be taken seriously as a kind of studio in its own right, and the Oscar attention helped draw subscribers to a number of Netflix films to stream over the past week.

First HBO Max trailer flaunts all the great content it stole from Netflix
With just a few months to go until yet another streaming service makes its debut, HBO Max shared its first trailer on Friday to showcase all of the content that will be available when it launches in May. Unsurprisingly, Friends is the first thing we see when the trailer begins, as HBO won the bidding war for the show’s streaming rights. Ever since Friends left Netflix on January 1st, there has been nowhere to legally stream it, but that will change soon.
Speaking of Friends, the entire main cast is expected to reconvene for an unscripted reunion special to celebrate the launch of the service. According to a recent report, the six actors are each receiving between $3 million and $4 million to appear in the special. But HBO Max is more than just Friends, as the video above shows.

Top Apple insider sheds some new light on iPhone 12 feature set
Truth be told, it’s probably a bit too soon to start speculating — with any type of authority — as to what type of hardware Apple’s iPhone 12 will ship with. Aside from the obvious — we know the iPhone 12 will boast a 5G modem and an A14 processor — much of the iPhone 12’s feature set remains up for debate.
To this point, a report from earlier in the week relayed that Apple recently stopped sending engineers to China to participate in Engineering Validation Tests (EVT) on account of the coronavirus. Notably, EVT is one rung below Design Validation Testing (DVT) which is where Apple locks down the iPhone 12’s hardware and feature set.

Busted: Huge malware operation targeted Google Chrome extensions
While she was performing some routine tasks one day that relate to her job of constantly hunting for digital threats online, security researcher Jamila Kaya stumbled across the first in a series of malicious Google Chrome extensions that would spark a two-month investigation and lead to the removal of more than 500 extensions by Google from its web store. Unfortunately, more than 1.7 million Chrome users had already installed that first batch of extensions she found, which gave some urgency to this investigation — the results of which have been unveiled in a newly published report into what turned out to be a huge malware operation active for at least two years.

Apple may design its own 5G antenna for the iPhone 12
The saga involving Apple’s iPhone 12 and its support for 5G has been interesting, to say the least. For a while, there were even rumors that the iPhone 12 might not ship with 5G on account of Apple’s fierce patent and royalty dispute with Qualcomm. Ultimately, though, Apple realized that Qualcomm’s 5G offering was best in class, a realization that prompted Apple to reach a settlement agreement with Qualcomm in April of last year.
In light of that, a new report from Fast Company relays that Apple is working on its own antenna design after concluding that Qualcomm’s QTM 525 millimeter-wave antenna “doesn’t fit into the sleek industrial design Apple wants for the new phone.”
