The massive merger deal that’s been in the making since last year is going forward as planned, as T-Mobile and Sprint just scored a massive win in court. A YouTuber just broke Samsung’s Galaxy S20 embargo and published a full hands-on video
When Samsung announces new smartphones, it gives tech journalists and bloggers early access to the phones in order to learn about them and prepare their coverage. In order to be briefed on the new products, however, members of the media must agree to an embargo. This means they cannot write about the new phones, discuss them in public, or share any photos or videos of the phones until a predetermined time when the embargo lifts. In the case of Samsung’s upcoming new Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra, the embargo is likely scheduled to lift at 2:00PM ET / 11:00AM PT, when the company’s big Unpacked event is set to start. That clearly didn’t matter to a Chinese YouTube channel called Zing Gadget though, because their hands-on preview of the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Samsung’s other two S20 phones just went live.

I can’t stop staring at this breathtaking iPhone 12 design based on Apple leaks
Leaks and rumors surrounding Apple’s unreleased iPhones follow the same cycle each and every year. With the iPhone 12, we’re now at a pretty exciting point in that cycle. First, early details leak about a year before a new iPhone’s debut, and these details come from insiders who have connections within Apple’s component supply chain. For the most part, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is the source of information at this early stage, and he has a fantastic track record. After that, more details about the next-generation iPhone’s design and features continue to trickle out until the actual designs are rendered based on CAD files that are inevitably stolen from Foxconn, the factory where Apple’s iPhones are assembled. Things snowball from there, but we haven’t quite gotten that far in the iPhone 12 cycle yet.
We know what the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models are going to look like for the most part, thanks to descriptions shared by Kuo. He has covered most of the bases at this point the research notes that he sends to clients, but we still haven’t actually seen Apple’s new iPhone 12 design leak. That leaves graphic designs to dream up designs based on Kuo’s descriptions, and we’ve seen some iPhone 12 concepts that will likely end up being pretty close to the real iPhone 12 series that Apple unveils this coming September. There’s a new imagining of Apple’s iPhone 12 that just appeared in a video on YouTube though, and I can’t stop staring at it.

Coronavirus outbreak forces more companies out of Mobile World Congress
Each day that gets us closer to this year’s Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, also adds thousands of new confirmed coronavirus infections and tens of additional deaths. The virus might not be as deadly as the flu, but it’s still giving some of the leading players in tech a good reason to reconsider their presence at the world’s biggest mobile tech show. Every year MWC draws in tens of thousands of people from all over the world, who come to Barcelona to launch their newest mobile products, ink new partnerships, or witness these press events as they unfold. MWC 2020 will be the first edition that will be remembered for the significant absentees, companies that would otherwise deliver some of the show’s biggest announcements.

Increase Your Laptop and Phone Battery Lifespan with j5create’s One of a Kind USB-C™ 2-in-1 Charging Cables and Active Power Meter Tester
Are you still using uncertified charging cables to charge your costly and high-powered laptops, tablets, game consoles, and phones? Ever notice how rapidly your batteries deplete after just a few weeks of use? Since you’ve been using a charging cable that doesn’t give the correct rate of charge, it could cost you a new expensive ion battery or laptop altogether. You might also be dealing with the hassle of lugging around space-consuming charging bricks and tangled up cables that offer subpar charging speeds. Fortunately, there’s a solution to this problem
When you use j5create’s USB-C Charging Cables with OLED Dynamic Power Meter, the longevity of not only the battery but also your USB devices is protected. Faster charging is excellent, but it’s even better when it’s also e-marked and vendor certified to use intelligent IC to detect your devices’ charge rate. This ensures safe, efficient charging. j5create also has compact power delivery wall chargers that offer ultra-fast charge speeds.
Figure 1 The JUCP line works with all USB-C compatible electronics
With the new JUCP13, JUCP14 or JUCP15 from j5create, you can monitor all the power specs while charging your device quickly. The JUCP series works with laptops, phones, tablets, game consoles and any USB-C compatible devices. You won’t have to worry about power outages or any other mechanical failures that might occur while you’re charging. While using an OLED dynamic power meter, you can accurately track the voltage, amperage and wattage of your device. The JUCP series is plug-and-play, so no matter what operating system you use, whether it’s Windows®, macOS®, Chrome OS or Linux®, you’ll be able to use these cables.
The JUCP13 is a USB Type-A 2.0 to USB-C cable that supports 480 Mbps, with a max current of 60 Watts/3 Amps and the OLED digital power meter that shows five different readings. It displays highly accurate analyses thanks to a built-in timer, voltage, amp, wattage and milliamp-hours (mAh) rate/direction reader. The analyzer provides high accuracy readings of up to two decimal points and has a small reversible connector. The cable itself measures 4 ft, making it perfect for travel.

However, if you’re looking for something that handles USB-C 2.0 to USB-C charging, then you can opt for the JUCP14 or JUCP15. These cables support a max current of 100 Watt/5 Amps, giving you more power. It also includes a six-in-one OLED digital power meter. In addition to the voltage, amp, watt, timer and mAh, it also can show you the direction of the charge. This one is also accurate up to two decimal points and has a small reversible connector. The cable is 4 ft and supports USB 2.0 (480 Mbps). This cable has a built-in electronically marked IC for the power to deliver 2.0 specifications.

New leaks reveal the Galaxy S20’s last remaining secrets
Samsung on Tuesday will finally unveil the two smartphones we’ve been talking about for the better part of the year so far. These are the clamshell foldable Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy S20, of course. The latter is the more important one, when it comes to Samsung’s bottom line, as it’s going to be the company’s main flagship in the first half of the year. The Galaxy S20 will come in three sizes and will feature four distinct tentpole features, but Samsung may focus on massively marketing just one of them. The new Galaxy S phone comes with a brand new name, Galaxy S20 instead of Galaxy S11. All three phones will also support 5G connectivity and pack 120Hz displays that should deliver a smoother overall Android experience. The fourth signature feature concerns the camera upgrades, and brand new leaks indicate the S20 camera will be heavily featured in Samsung’s upcoming marketing materials. Obviously, we’re not surprised, as all the major smartphone vendors have been fighting camera wars for a few years now, Samsung included. Not to mention that the huge camera modules on the back of the three Galaxy S20 phones are unmissable and easier to feature in ads than, say, 5G connectivity or the 120Hz refresh rate.

If you could use VR to see a dead loved one again one more time, would you want to?
The video at the top of this post is one of the most moving, emotionally powerful uses of technology I’ve seen in a long time, and there’s not a lot of context you need to know in order to imagine the full weight of what the mother must be feeling in the clip above. Basically, what you see in the footage, from a South Korean documentary that aired a few days ago, is the product of a team that worked to recreate the likeness of a seven-year-old girl named Nayeon who died in 2016. They used virtual reality technology to recreate her face, voice, body, and movements.
The fact that you can see tears streaming down the mother’s face, even from underneath the VR headset she’s strapped on to see what the team produced, tells you how profoundly moving the experience of encountering a digital yet lifelike version of her daughter must have been. Per the Korean news outlet Aju Business Daily, the production team worked on this project for eight months. Attention was paid to the smallest detail, even the park-like surroundings through which young Nayeon first scampers into view to greet her flabbergasted mother. The mother can be seen stretching out her hands to try and hold the avatar of her daughter one more time — the child she loved so much that she tattooed her name on her body and wears a necklace containing some of her ashes. In Korean, the virtual version of her daughter strides right up to her mother and asks, according to an English translation, “Where have you been, Mom? Did you think about me?”
