Ryan Reynolds’ cameo as himself in his Netflix movie is probably the best cameo ever
Ryan Reynolds’ new Netflix movie launched on Friday. The Michael Bay action flick 6 Underground features lots of shooting, car chases and fighting. The film has an interesting premise — a tech billionaire fakes his death to right the wrongs of the world with five other highly-trained individuals — and could spawn sequels if it meets whatever targets Netflix has in place for it.
But while it’s great that you can watch 6 Underground from your own home, it’s not a must-see, best-in-class film. Sure, the action is entertaining, as is the humor, but the storyline isn’t perfect, and there are times when it’s difficult and even tiresome to follow. I won’t spoil any of the plot for you, I’ll just say it could have been much better. But maybe we don’t even need a better story from this Bay creation. It’s the fast-paced action that we’re after in 6 Underground. What I will spoil is a hilarious Ryan Reynolds cameo in the film that easily qualifies as one of the best cameos ever.

FBI busts two illegal streaming sites so massive they dwarf Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu
In spite of the fact that consumers now have an abundance of choice when it comes to streaming video services to pay for, there are still thousands of people, it seems, who would prefer to pay for an alternative to Netflix, Disney+ and the like. An illegal alternative.
Over the weekend, the US Justice Department, thanks to the work of FBI investigators, announced guilty pleas from two Las Vegas-based programmers accused of running massive illegal streaming sites. Sites so massive that at least one of them, a service called iStreamItAll, boasted more content than Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and Amazon Prime, combined, according to the DOJ. Not only that, but the programmers were able to convince “tens of thousands” of people in the US to actually forgo legitimate sites like Netflix and pay to subscribe to their sketchy service instead.

Tesla stock soars amid word of a new tax credit expansion
Shares of Tesla skyrocketed today amid word that there may be an extension to the federal tax credit for EV purchases. By the end of trading on Monday, Tesla stock was up 23 points and closed out the day at $381. Notably, the $381 closing price marks a new all-time high for Tesla shares.
As we covered a few weeks back, the ability for Tesla buyers to take advantage of a federal tax credit is slowly but surely coming to a close. Whereas Tesla buyers a few years back were able to enjoy a $7,500 tax credit, that figure has since dropped down to $1,875 and is set to expire at the end of the month.

Astronomers are spotting so many exoplanets that there’s no time to study them all
Today, astronomers have more tools at their disposal than ever before. Technology has reached a point that scientists can finally spot planets outside of our own solar system. That’s an incredible achievement, of course, but what was at first just a slow trickle of exoplanet discoveries has become an all-out flood, and that’s more of a problem than you might think.
As Space.com reports, astronomers currently know of over 4,100 exoplanets. Those are the alien worlds that have been confirmed to exist and doesn’t take into account the heaps of “exoplanet candidates” that will require additional observation before confirmation. We’ve reached a point where closely examining each and every exoplanet is virtually impossible.

AT&T figured out a sneaky way to hide its slower home internet speeds from test results
We’ve written often here about the different tests that attempt to measure your home broadband speed, which includes crowd-sourced apps from companies like Ookla. And how as soon as you point to results from a source like Ookla, you’ve got to couch them behind caveats like the fact that crowdsourced reports aren’t controlled, and differences in methodology between the networks can introduce bias into the data.
It’s a hard thing, measuring broadband speed, and to make matters more complicated is the fact none of the methods are “perfect.” That’s because everything from the equipment you use to the time of day you’re accessing the internet can affect network performance. Measuring everyone’s speed is not as simple or objectively straightforward as using a ruler to, say, measure the length of an object on your desk (in which case there’s one right answer, and it will be the same every time). This brings us to AT&T, and specifically to a step it’s taken in response to the FCC’s SamKnows speed test awarding the carrier a less-than-flattering score on its DSL internet service. What do you do if you’re a broadband provider and don’t like the results from a third-party’s test of your offering? Why, just pull out of the test and start your own, of course.

Android 11 might get a great Dark Mode feature that the iPhone already has
iOS 13 and Android 10 are the first mobile operating systems to include system-wide support for dark mode. Not only will dark mode make it easier to operate the phone at night without burning your eyes out, but most high-end handsets feature OLED displays, and dark mode can help reduce energy consumption.
However, Apple and Google implemented dark mode differently when it comes to ease of use, and Android fans will have to wait for Android 11 to roll out to enjoy a feature that’s already available on the iPhone.

Very good dogs discover 65 million-year-old fossil skeleton while out for a walk
When 54-year-old Jon Gopsill took his two dogs out for a stroll on a beach in Stolford, Somerset in the UK, he never could have anticipated what they’d stumble across. Gopsill is an amateur archaeologist and it would seem that his dogs share his affinity for hunting down remnants of the ancient world.
As The Telegraph reports, Gopsill’s two pups, Poppy and Sam, were with him for a trip to the beach. Gopsill was casually walking while his dogs played, and that’s when the trio discovered what is now believed to be a 65-million-year-old skeleton of a long-dead sea creature.

Xbox Series X will be backward compatible with every Xbox One game at launch
As exciting as the launch of a new game console can be, it’s also often the least interesting part of its life cycle, since game studios rarely have a large slate of games ready on launch day, or even in the first few months of the console’s existence. Thankfully, Microsoft will avoid this issue next fall, as Xbox boss Phil Spencer told GameSpot that Xbox Series X will be backward compatible with every Xbox One game on day one.
