This is the best coronavirus news we’ve seen all month
- Two new coronavirus studies prove that COVID-19 immunity can be obtained either via direct exposure to SARS-CoV-2 or via a vaccine.
- Researchers have used rhesus macaque to show that reinfection isn’t possible for COVID-19 survivors or for subjects who received vaccine candidates.
- The studies confirm recent COVID-19 immunity research and are good news for vaccine and antibodies drugs that are in development. What they can’t explain is how long the immunity will last.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The novel coronavirus might be able to spread faster than any pathogen we’ve come across in recent years, but we’re getting closer and closer to defeating it. Drugs that are used on other illnesses have been found to work with COVID-19 already. They can speed up recovery and reduce life-threatening complications. On top of that, the first vaccine candidates have already begun human trials, and they’re delivering promising news. Not to mention that scientists are already working on brand new COVID-19 drugs that can both cure the disease and provide temporary immunity until vaccines arrive.
Regardless of the kind of therapy that doctors are using for the new virus, immunity is the main goal and a pair of new studies indicate that COVID-19 immunity is real. How long will that immunity last? That’s a question we won’t know the answer to for a long time to come.

Coronavirus second wave: This site tells you if it’s too soon for your state to reopen
- Coronavirus cases are still on the upswing in the US, which remains one of the global hotspots of the COVID-19 virus that’s infected more than 1.5 million people here and killed more than 93,000.
- That’s according to the latest coronavirus statistics from Johns Hopkins University.
- Nevertheless, all 50 US states have now begun a reopening to some degree, and experts say reopening prematurely can lead to a severe second wave of coronavirus infections.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
For some of you, the reaction is “Thank God, it’s about time.” As of this moment, all 50 states in the US have reopened to some degree, embarking on a pullback of lockdown mandates and other measures taken in response to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Restaurants are starting to serve diners inside again. You can shop in some retail stores, either inside or via curbside pickup.
Of course, this reopening is as much about the expectation that the US economy couldn’t take much more of a beating, as opposed to a sense that this is an appropriate time to, you know, actually lift the restrictions. Parts of the country started issuing stay-at-home orders and seeing business closures just two months ago, and since then some 36.5 million people have filed for unemployment — a jarring blow to the US economy that inspired the federal government to take extraordinary action, like sending out direct coronavirus stimulus payments to most Americans. Reopening, though, is a high-stakes balancing act, because look what’s happened in recent days — as of Wednesday afternoon, according to one analysis, at least 18 states have seen a growth in average daily cases of at least 10% over the previous week. “The only thing that was keeping this very contagious virus in check was each of us keeping that physical distance,” former Baltimore Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen told CNN. “If we’re going to let people go to work and reopen, we are going to be introducing risk of some kind. The key is what are the steps we can take to reduce that risk as much as possible?”

Save $134 on a wearable device that can warn you of a coronavirus infection
- Monitoring your temperature for a fever is still the most common way to watch out for a potential novel coronavirus infection, and Amazon’s best-selling infrared thermometer is finally back in stock.
- It’s a great way to be extra safe, but there’s another device that might be an even better indicator of a COVID-19 infection: a blood oxygen level meter.
- Also called a pulse oximeter, these devices can be crucial tools — and we have a great deal to share with you today on one of our favorite models.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Ever since the early days of the novel coronavirus pandemic, we’ve all been told time and time again about one symptom in particular that we all need to be on the lookout for. We’re talking about a fever, of course, and temperature checks have been lauded time and time again as crucial steps to reopening the economy. As it turns out, however, a fever might not be as common a coronavirus symptom as we all thought. In fact, some studies have suggested that fewer than half of patients who are infected with COVID-19 get a fever.
This is some fairly startling news since elevated temperature is the one thing we’ve been told to be on the lookout for first and foremost. Thankfully though, there’s something else that might be an even better indicator of a novel coronavirus infection. Since the virus attacks the lungs, people who catch COVID-19 can often tell by checking their blood oxygen level. Normal blood oxygen readings are between 95% and 100% according to the Mayo clinic, but coronavirus patients have been found with readings as low as 50%. Anything under 90% is considered unhealthy.
Today, we have a great deal to share with our readers on one of the niftiest pulse oximeters we know of. It’s called the Wellue Oxygen Saturation Tracker and it’s different from most of the blood oxygen level meters you’ve seen. Whereas most of them clip to a finger to give a reading, this model is a ring that you can wear all the time for continuous readings. What’s more, it alerts you if your blood oxygen level drops too low and it even connects to an app on your iPhone or Android device.
The Wellue Oxygen Saturation Tracker is a terrific tool and it lasts for 14 hours per charge so you can wear it all day or all night. You can also just use it periodically to check your blood oxygen level since constant monitoring isn’t always necessary. This model carries a hefty retail price of $260, but an Amazon discount plus the special coupon code WSSIKXYR slash it down to an all-time low of just $125.99. Definitely take advantage of this sale while you can.
Wellue Overnight Oxygen Saturation Tracker with Notification for Low O2 Level and Heart Rate, F…: $125.99 (use code WSSIKXYR by 5/26)
Here are some of the key details from the product page:
- Peace of mind on your finger, adjustable vibration feedback for low oxygen level and irregular heart rate.
- The lightest, smallest, most comfortable ring sensor for overnight continuous monitoring, durable, and adaptable to most fingers.
- Free professional APP and PC report shows the graphic sleep report and trends of blood oxygen level condition, heart rate and motion
- Rechargeable: 2 hours charging for up to 14 hours of usage. The device runs automatically when you wear it
- You will get: A 12-month Worry-Free Warranty, lifetime technical support, top-grade customer service, and fast responses within 12 hours.

Netflix new releases for June 2020: Everything coming and going
- Netflix just shared its list of arrivals and departures for the month of June 2020.
- Some of the notable additions to Netflix next month include E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Lady Bird, V for Vendetta, Fuller House: The Farewell Season, all three seasons of Hannibal, F is for Family: Season 4, Queer Eye: Season 5, and 13 Reasons Why: Season 4.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
One of Netflix’s longest-running reboots comes to an end in June as Fuller House comes to a close with the second half of its fifth and final season. June also sees the return of originals such as F is for Family, Queer Eye, 13 Reasons Why, and The Politician, but all in all, it’s shaping up to be one of the quieter months of 2020 for the streaming service so far. That said, I am looking forward to Eric Andre’s undoubtedly insane Legalize Everything special.

70¢ coronavirus face masks are flying off the shelves again at Amazon
- If you’re looking for face masks for sale, Amazon’s best-selling 3-layer face masks are back in stock and they have fallen to a new all-time low price: Just 70¢ per mask.
- Coronavirus face masks are a necessity for everyone because the CDC recommends that we wear them at all times whenever we leave our homes.
- The only way to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus now that nonessential businesses are beginning to reopen prematurely is by practicing strict social distancing, ensuring good hygiene, and wearing a face mask anytime you’re outside your home.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Now that nonessential businesses are beginning to reopen prematurely in regions across the United States, it’s more important than ever that you follow three simple rules every single time you leave your home. First and foremost, you must wear a face mask like the CDC recommends. Second, you need to practice strict social distancing and stay away from other people whether or not they’re wearing masks. And third, you need to ensure good hygiene by washing your hands as often as you can and by using hand sanitizer whenever you touch a surface outside your home. And don’t worry, strong hand sanitizer is finally back in stock at Amazon.
There is definitely a second wave of novel coronavirus infections coming, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop reopening the economy. Quite the contrary, in fact. As long as we follow the three crucial guidelines we outlined above, we can definitely slow the spread of COVID-19. With that in mind, our readers will be excited to learn that Amazon’s best-selling face masks are not only back in stock today, but they’ve also fallen to an all-time low price of just 70¢ each.
Face Mask, Pack of 50: $34.99 ($0.70 / Mask)
You need to wear a face mask when you go out. Period. Even the CDC says so. People with nonessential jobs are still being advised to continue to shelter in place in most areas but even as businesses start to open up, you should still continue to quarantine yourself and only go out when you absolutely must. When you do have to go out to pick up groceries or do something else that is absolutely necessary, the CDC advises us all to use some type of protective face covering in order to limit the transmission of the novel coronavirus. That DOES NOT mean you should wear an N95 mask or even the KN95 masks that are now flooding the market from China. As long as you practice social distancing and good hygiene, a standard face mask will do just fine.
There are a bunch of different options out there that won’t block healthcare professionals from getting the medical-grade face masks they all need so desperately. We recently told you how to quickly and easily make your own DIY face masks using supplies that you likely already have lying around your home, and they’re far more effective than other cloth DIY face mask instructions you’ll find online. If you want to step things up a bit, someone reverse-engineered an N95 face mask and posted instructions to make your own, complete with a virus neutralizer.
If you’re not the DIY type though, don’t worry because we have some excellent news for you.
Face Mask, Pack of 50: $34.99 ($0.70 / Mask)
Last week, we told you that Amazon’s best-selling face masks by Jointown were back in stock and available to ship out right away. The wildly popular Jointown masks are linked above, and now there’s another best-seller that just came back in stock: XHW 3-ply face masks. This second option is sold by Amazon so orders might arrive even faster, and they’re only $0.80 per mask compared to a new all-time low of $0.70 for Jointown masks. Just note that the one-star review on there is from some moron who doesn’t understand that all of these masks are made in China and obviously cannot have live coronavirus on them by the time they arrive in the United States.
Both of these options are 3-layer masks that do a great job of blocking things from your airways and preventing the virus from spreading if you already have it — provided you also take the necessary precautions and practice strict social distancing. These are not N95 masks or medical-grade surgical masks, and that’s important to note. That said, the CDC recommends that we wear cloth face coverings like these masks anytime we leave the house. They’re also much better than most of the cloth DIY face masks that people are sharing plans for online right now.
Face Mask, Pack of 50: $39.99 ($0.80 / mask)
When we told you about these face masks arriving back in stock on Amazon, tens of thousands of our readers rushed over to the site to buy them. Incredibly, however, these best-selling masks are still in stock and still available to ship right away. There are other face masks available right now on Amazon as well, so if shipping times start to slip back you can always use that page to find comparable masks. Another popular option among our readers lately is the even thicker Anntuk 4-ply face mask. It’s a bit pricier than the other ones we’ve mentioned, but plenty of people out there are willing to pay for the extra sense of security. If you ask us, the 3-ply masks are more than good enough.
Thick 4-Ply Face Shield with Elastic Ear Loop Cover Full Face Anti-Dust(1PCS): $14.99
The aforementioned face masks from Amazon and the two DIY masks we linked earlier in this article are all great options, and they’ll definitely do the job if you also remain vigilant. Stay at home unless you absolutely must go out. Practice social distancing and stay as far away from other people when you do have to leave the house. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer as frequently as possible, especially after touching surfaces outside of your home.

The PS5 detail you want most won’t be revealed in June
- Sony is widely expected to hold a PlayStation 5 event at some point in early June, where the new console will be unveiled.
- The PS5 price, a piece of key information that Sony hasn’t revealed so far, isn’t expected to drop at the event.
- An insider says the information will be revealed only in August, much later than initially anticipated.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Sony is widely expected to unveil the PlayStation 5 design during an event in early June. We’ve already heard of two possible dates, including June 2nd and June 4th, although nothing is confirmed. Whatever the case, it seems unlikely for Sony to host an actual in-person press conference. Instead, Sony will likely go for an online-only event, hopefully, one more exciting than the PS5 specs event from a few weeks ago. This time around, Sony won’t talk about specs as much, as we have more significant PlayStation announcements ahead. Specifically, we’re waiting to finally see the design of the PS5, as well as game demos for the new gaming machine. In a way, the announcement would mimic Sony’s PS4 marketing playbook, as the original design of the PS4 was unveiled back in June 2013. Unlike seven years ago, the detail you want most about the new PlayStation will not come next month.
