Get an Echo Dot for just $9 in a deal so crazy, everyone thought it was a mistake

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Back in October, we told you about a crazy deal on Amazon that let Prime members buy an Echo Dot for just $8.98. The deal was so crazy that many of the sites covering it thought Amazon had made a mistake, but it turned out to be a legitimate promotion. Well, guess what: It’s back!

Here’s how this killer deal works: Amazon is offering Prime members a $0.99 Echo Dot bundled with one month of its Amazon Music Unlimited service, which costs $7.99. That’s a total of $8.98. If you’re smart, you’ll keep Amazon Music Unlimited and ditch Spotify or Apple Music, because Amazon offers the same great streaming service as those other two, but for less money. But if you’d rather stick with what you know, that’s also OK — just go to this page anytime after you place your order and you can cancel Amazon Music Unlimited. You’ll still get to keep streaming for the rest of the month, and you’ll get to keep your $9 Echo Dot! This deal is available to any and all Prime members who have never subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited before, and it’s only around for a limited time so hurry.

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) for $0.99 and 1 month of Amazon Music Unlimited for $7.99 with Auto-renewal…: $8.98

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

All of Apple’s AirPods models got deeper discounts at Amazon during Black Friday and Cyber Monday than at any other retailer, and they sold out pretty quickly. Somehow… some way… they’re back on Amazon right now and they’re all discounted once again! Apple AirPods Pro are listed as “temporarily sold out,” but you can still order them for their Black Friday price of $234.98. You won’t find them that cheap anywhere else, and remember that Amazon almost always ships much faster than you think. We ordered a pair of AirPods Pro when it said they’d ship in “1-2 months” and they arrived in less than a week!

Beyond the Pro model, both of Apple’s regular AirPods models are in stock and discounted right now. Apple AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case are $30 off, which makes them just $10 more than you’d pay at Apple for the model without the wireless charging case. Walmart’s ‘Daily Deal Drop’ sale is just as good as Black Friday – here are today’s 10 best deals

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

I was so busy helping the BGR Deals team during Black Friday and Cyber Week this year that I didn’t actually get the chance to do any holiday shopping for myself. Luckily, the deals out there right now from top retailers are just as good as even the best bargains we saw during this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Week blowouts. Examples of some of the hottest deals out there today include up to $30 off Apple AirPods 2, an Echo Dot bundled with a month of Amazon Unlimited Music for just $8.98, a $30 credit when you buy a Nintendo Switch and use the promo code D3E2CDJ6GB6S at checkout, the best Ring Doorbell bundle deals we’ve ever seen (like a free Echo Sho 5 when you buy a $250 Ring Video Doorbell Pro for $229), discounted Philips Hue LED smart bulbs, Black Friday pricing on Samsung microSD cards, the best prices on Bose headphones and speakers including the first discount ever on the Bose 700 wireless ANC headphones, $300 off Apple’s MacBook Air, and so much more.

Most people seem to agree that Amazon has the best deals around right now, and you’ll find plenty of examples in the company’s holiday 2019 deals hub. But Amazon obviously isn’t the only big online retailer offering killer deals today. In fact, some of the sales right now in Walmart’s big “Daily Deal Drop” sale are just as good as sales we saw on Black Friday 2019! You can shop the entire sale right here on the Walmart website, and you’ll find our choices for the 10 best deals of the day on Wednesday below.

Disney+ digital gift cards go live right in time for Christmas

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Disney+ is easily one of the hottest products of the year, with more than 10 million people having subscribed to the service in time for launch last month. Disney’s early deals certainly helped with that, although the $6.99 monthly fee is already a great deal on its own, especially when you compare it with Netflix and other video streaming option — the price is actually even lower if you buy a full year of access for $69.99. And if you were wondering whether you can actually gift people an entire year of Disney+ streaming for Christmas, the good news is that you sure can.

A top insider just leaked Samsung’s launch date for the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy Fold 2

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Galaxy S11 rumors season is in full swing, and we already have plenty of details about Samsung’s next flagship. The purported design of the new handset has already leaked, with some reports saying Samsung will have as many as five different S11 versions, including Galaxy S11e and Plus flavors, all sporting the same looks paired with different camera systems on the back. The Snapdragon 865 processor that will power 2020 Android flagships is already official, and Qualcomm already revealed what type of features the new chip will power. Unsurprisingly, the list of 865 features includes support for 5G, high-refresh-rate displays and up to 200-megapixel cameras, and the Galaxy S11 is rumored to pack 120Hz screens and a brand new 108-megapixel primary camera. Moreover, the S11 line will include multiple 5G-ready devices, according to reports. We also have a pretty good idea of when to expect the Galaxy S11 in stores, given Samsung’s history with the series, and an insider thinks he knows the actual announcement date.

Arizona man arrested after trying to break into home and getting stuck in the chimney

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When neighbors heard screams coming from a vacant house in a neighborhood in Tuscon, Arizona, last Friday, they weren’t sure what to expect. A man’s voice pleading for help led witnesses to call 911, prompting a visit from the police who entered the home and found a man in his mid-30s dangling helplessly from the inside of the home’s chimney.

According to a report from local news outlet KGUN, the man wasn’t the homeowner, but rather a vandal who had apparently attempted to enter the home without anyone knowing. Somehow, the story gets even more bizarre.

More than 26 million people watched Netflix’s ‘The Irishman’ in its first week

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There are a few guaranteed, take-it-to-the-bank certainties in life that are always the same and constant — things like death and taxes. The changing of the seasons. Also, the truism that when Martin Scorsese makes another movie about the mob, and when he packs the cast with stars like Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino, it will spark endless debates about where it fits into his pantheon of great films. It’s also guaranteed to attract a ton of eyeballs. No matter how long it is (three-and-a-half hours in the case of The Irishman — aka, at least a one-, and maybe a two bathroom-break movie), and no matter where it’s shown (in theaters for a limited run, but mostly on Netflix).

On the heels of picking up a fantastic haul of Golden Globe nominations on Monday (34 total, including five for The Irishman), Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos on Tuesday shared some incredible viewership numbers for the streamer’s much-buzzed-about Scorsese movies while at a conference in New York.

Tim Cook says he doesn’t want iPhones to be what Apple is remembered for

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Ask Apple CEO Tim Cook what he hopes the legacy of the storied technology company will be, and the answer he gives might surprise some people. Because, in his mind, he thinks it should be about something besides the iPhone, upon which so much of the company’s fortunes still depend and which remains an immensely important gadget to Apple.

In a new interview on Tuesday with the Nikkei news service in Japan, however, Cook offered up something else entirely, in response to the legacy question. “If you ask me what Apple’s greatest contribution to humankind was, it will be in the health care area,” he said, highlighting the Apple Watch with its groundbreaking electrocardiogram feature which lets users get an ECG reading right from their wrist. “It’s really only a few people that have an ECG per year, a very small percentage of the population.” Now, he continued, that convenience offers the potential to change — and potentially save — lives.

Even a little alcohol can raise your risk of getting cancer, study finds

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Over the years, there has been no shortage of studies focused on alcohol consumption. Some studies suggest there are benefits to moderate consumption of alcohol on a regular or semi-regular basis, while others warn of the many potential dangers. A new study published in the journal Cancer falls squarely in the latter category.

The research, which was published Monday, December 9th, focused on the impact of regular alcohol consumption on the risk of developing cancer. Unfortunately for those of us who enjoy a cocktail here and there, even casual drinking on a limited basis seems to be tied to an increase in cancer.
