Amazon is almost sold out of coronavirus-killing UV phone sanitizers
- Everyone knows that Clorox wipes and Lysol wipes are great for disinfecting your smartphone, but they’re still impossible to find in any stores.
- Since smartphones are known to be breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria and viruses, UV-C smartphone sanitizers are must-have gadgets right now because they’re by far the best way to clean your phone and other small items.
- There are several models that are now back in stock at Amazon, but they’re already selling quickly and will be gone before you know it.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Everyone knows that smartphones are breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria and yes, viruses as well. In the age of coronavirus, you really can’t be too safe. Clorox wipes and Lysol wipes are still nowhere to be found in supermarkets across the country, but Amazon finally has three different UV-C phone sanitizers back in stock that you can get soon if you hurry.
Aside from face masks and hand sanitizer, this might be the most important purchase you make in terms of protecting yourself from the novel coronavirus.
The first model available right now is the Yasolote UV Smartphone Sanitizer Case, which is available for $48.99. It has a nice large inner compartment to fit even the biggest smartphones out there, and it’s one of the most affordable options on Amazon.
- Germicidal UV light eliminates up to 99% of germs and bacteria. Dual UV bulbs, sanitizes your device in less than 8 minutes, protect yourself and those closest to you by sanitizing your phone regularly. This smartphone sterilizer box to kill 99.9% of common household germs such as staph, e. Coli, and salmonella. Includes an accessories basket for small devices such as toothbrushes, masks, ladies, baby underwear, jewelry, makeup tools, watches, coins, etc.
Yasolote Phone Uv Sanitizer, Portable UV Light Cell Phone Sterilizer, Aromatherapy Function Dis…: $48.99
Another good option is the Soeland UV Cell Phone Sanitizer, which is a bit less expensive at $47.99. It works just as well as the NeotrixQI model, but the design is a little different. This is a newer model that hasn’t been available quite as long as the others.
- UV cellphone sanitizer – it’s safe to sanitize anything that will fit inside! While killing 99.99% of germs, UV-C light can get to the microorganisms that hide in crevices where even cleaning wipes can’t reach.
- Large Sanitizing Space – SOELAND sanitizer is compatible with cell phones up to 7 inches such as iPhone, Samsung, Nexus, LG, Motorola, Sony, HTC, Huawei, etc. Great for iPods, MP3 players, Bluetooth earphones, toothbrushes, watches, toys, pacifiers, eyeglasses, keys, jewelry, and any other small objects.
UV Cell Phone Sanitizer, Portable Smart Phone Sterilizer, Aromatherapy Function Phone Disinfect…: $47.99
Then we have the best-selling HoMedics UV-Clean Phone Sanitizer that has been so popular with our readers. It’s a bit pricey at $79.99, but it has a great collapsable design that makes it easy to stow anywhere. Despite the zipper closure, it still has a magnetic safety — the zipper pull is hiding a magnet that can only attach to the safety when it’s zipped closed.
- Keep your phone clean by utilizing patented pop-up technology and UV-C LED sanitizing. After use, it conveniently collapses flat to transport between your purse, backpack, suitcase, gym bag, and more to kill up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses.
HoMedics UV-Clean Phone Sanitizer | Faster Than Any UV Sanitizer On The Market | Kills Up to 99…: $79.99
Last but not least, the HoMedics UV-Clean Large Phone Sanitizer works just as well as the model noted above, but it has a larger interior space so it can clean bigger items. It’s $99.99 and it’s in stock now, but it’ll probably sell out soon.
- PORTABLE PROTECTION: A perfect gift for the germaphobe of the family! Keep your most frequently used items clean and sanitized while at home or on the go with powerful UV-C LED technology. Keep it in your purse, backpack, suitcase, gym bag, diaper bag, and more to kill up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses 10x faster than any other sanitizer.

‘Potentially hazardous’ mile-wide asteroid will cruise past Earth on Thursday
- An asteroid considered “potentially hazardous” by NASA will pass by Earth on May 21st.
- The rock, which might be up to a mile in diameter, is expected to safely sail by at a distance of around 4 million miles.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
An asteroid estimated to be up to nearly a mile in diameter is scheduled for a date with Earth tomorrow, May 21st, 2020. The space rock known as 136795 (1997 BQ) will be moving at a speed of over seven miles per second when it reaches its closest point to our planet. Thankfully, NASA has been keeping a close eye on it and it’s expected to miss Earth by a significant margin.
As its name suggests, 1997 BQ was first spotted by astronomers in 1997. It’s big enough that it could be tracked, and over time its Sun-centric orbit was mapped and refined.

You’re nuts if you buy a $200 Nest Cam – these $24 cameras are just as good
- Amazon is offering great deals on not two of the best options out there when it comes to home security cameras, the Wyze Cam and the YI Home Camera 3.
- Both currently priced at around $24, the cameras offer features that match pricey high-end rivals at a small fraction of the cost.
- At that price, you can buy eight of either one of these great home camera models and still spend less than you would on a single home security camera from some top brands.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
It’s difficult to focus on anything other than the novel coronavirus outbreak right now, and that’s certainly understandable. It’s the most important thing happening in the world and it will continue to be for months and months to come. The United States now has more confirmed COVID-19 cases than any other country in the world and that’s in spite of the fact that only a fraction of people exhibiting symptoms can get tested since there’s still such a shortage on coronavirus tests. It’s bad and getting worse, but we also have to remember that life goes on and we have more than just the coronavirus to protect ourselves and our families from.
Amazon has two great deals right now on home security cameras that are just as good as a $200 Nest Cam for a tiny fraction of the price. The first is the Wyze Cam, which has all the main features you might want as well as 14 days of free cloud storage for between $24 and $26 per camera. The second one is on the Yi Home Camera 3, which costs about the same amount but has some more advanced features as well as a 6-month free trial of YI’s cloud service. On top of that, you can get a 10% discount if you buy two right now.
Based on today’s deals, the Yi model is definitely the way to go. On top of all the main features you’d get with the Wyze Cam, the YI Home Camera 3 also includes advanced AI features like person detection and even sound analytics. The downside is that you only get free 7-day cloud storage for 6 months, and after that, you’ll have to subscribe to YI’s cloud service if you want to keep using the cloud. $24.29 for all those features is still a crazy price.
YI Smart Home Camera 3 w/ 6-Month Cloud Service, AI-Powered 1080p 2.4G Wi-Fi Indoor Security Ca…: $24.29 (use code GAXSJC8C)
As for the Wyze Cam 1080p HD smart home camera, it’s always a great value and it comes with 14 days of free cloud storage for free. That’s not a limited-time trial, mind you — you’ll enjoy free cloud storage for as long as you own your cameras. As we also mentioned, Wyze cameras are still shipping out right away on Amazon despite the retailer’s shift in focus away from nonessentials. You’ll pay $25.98 for one camera or $24.99 each if you by them in 2-packs, and they’ll be on your doorstep in just a few days.
Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Smart Home Camera with Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Works with Alexa & t…: $24.99 – $25.98

Google Photos update makes it easier than ever to share albums
- Google is updating the Google Photos app this week to bring new controls to sharing albums that will make it easier to add a person or a group of people to a shared album.
- Google is changing the default option for shared albums so that users can share with people via their Google account.
- Google says that sharing in the Google Photos app is up 50% since the coronavirus pandemic began.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Google Photos is one of the company’s most popular services, and with everyone stuck at home due to the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic, people are desperate for ways to connect with their friends and family members. On the Google blog, Google Photos sharing engineer lead Sanjukta Mathur revealed that sharing is up 50% in some regions since the pandemic began, and this week, Google is making it easier to share whole albums.
Late last year, Google added a direct sharing feature to the service which significantly decreased the number of steps required to share a single photo or video with a contact by adding them to a private conversation in the app. Google is now bringing a similar experience to shared albums, as the default option will now be to share with a specific person or group of people via their Google account, making it easier to add people to albums.

CDC: Coronavirus ‘does not spread easily’ from contaminated surfaces
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tweaked its COVID-19 transmission information webpage to make it clear that the primary way the coronavirus spreads is from person-to-person.
- The CDC says the virus does not spread easily from touching surfaces, objects, or animals.
- The page does indicate that touching surfaces may still be risky if the person then touches their face (mouth, nose, eyes).
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The novel coronavirus is as dangerous as it is because it can spread with ease and go undetected for a long time. The incubation period is anywhere from two to 14 days, and not all carriers develop symptoms. But everyone who is infected is contagious and can spread the disease to others. Social distancing, wearing face masks, and practicing good hygiene are easy ways to reduce the risk of getting infected. We’ve also trained ourselves to disinfect surfaces to avoid the risk of coming in contact with virus-laden particles. Studies have shown that sneezing and coughing can easily spread the virus, and air conditioning can help those particles travel beyond 6 feet. Even talking and singing is enough to spread particles that can infect others or contaminate surfaces. And the virus can survive anywhere from hours to days on certain materials.
But the CDC has changed its COVID-19 guidelines in the past few days to make it clear that the virus spreads mainly through person-to-person contact and “does not spread easily” on contaminated surfaces.

New coronavirus outbreak in China raises concerns about mutations
- Novel coronavirus cases in northeast China are presenting themselves differently than the earliest cases in Wuhan, sparking concerns about mutations.
- The new coronavirus cases are infected for a longer period of time, take longer to test negative, and are infected for longer before they start to show symptoms.
- University of Hong Kong’s School of Public Health director says this isn’t enough to prove that the virus is mutating, and that there could be other explanations.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
If there has been a silver lining amidst all of the tragedy and chaos of the past few months, it is the fact that scientists and researchers were finding evidence that the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was relatively stable, which was good news for the prospects of an effective vaccine. In March, molecular geneticist Peter Thielen told The Washington Post that there were only about 4 to 10 genetic differences between the strains in the US and those in Wuhan, which is “a relatively small number of mutations for having passed through a large number of people.”
That was the best news we could have hoped for, all things considered, but according to Bloomberg, Chinese doctors are seeing notable differences in the way that the virus is manifesting itself in a new cluster of cases in the northeast region of China when compared to the original outbreak in Wuhan last year.

Protein powders are so popular these days, and they’re great if you find a good one and use it properly. But protein powders definitely aren’t always convenient. On top of that, the best ones often taste so gross that people have trouble choking them down. That’s why so many people use protein bars to supplement their protein intake. On top of that, they’re perfect for a quick bite when you’re in a rush and they’re packed full of nutrition, unlike most quick and easy snacks people eat.
There are plenty of options out there for good protein bars these days. Some taste better than others, but they’ve come a long way in recent years, generally speaking. Finding one that tastes decent used to be a daunting task, but now you’ll find that most of the popular options out there taste okay. Now, if you want something that tastes absolutely delicious and still has all the protein you need without all the carbs, you want Quest Hero Bars.
When I tell you that Hero bars are delicious, I’m not exaggerating at all. They’re not just tasty when compared to other protein bars, they’re tasty, period. Quest’s Hero bars use a sweetener called allulose that’s made from sugar and tastes like sugar. Your body doesn’t metabolize it like sugar though so it doesn’t have all the carbs and calories associated with sugar.
Head over to Amazon right now and you’ll find the two very best flavors, Quest Nutrition Blueberry Cobbler Hero Protein Bars and Quest Nutrition Chocolate Caramel Pecan Hero Protein Bars, both available with a special deal. Buy one buy at full price and you can save 25% on a second box! Each box contains 10 bars but trust us, they won’t last long when you realize how delicious they are. Also, you can buy one box of each flavor and still get the discount, and there are even some other types of protein bars that are eligible for the deal. The Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor Hero bars are in stock rigth now as well and available for $19.98 per box, but they’re not eligible for the 25% off deal.

Best-selling face masks and hand sanitizers are all back in stock today at Amazon
- If you’re wondering where to buy face masks online now, you’re not alone — the problem is many retailers are still price gouging so it can be tough to find affordable options.
- Inventory has been limited for months, but Amazon’s best-selling face masks are finally back in stock.
- In addition, hand sanitizers are back in stock as well, including the best-selling Zatural alcohol-based hand sanitizer as well as 12-packs of Artnaturals alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The CDC has made it crystal clear on its website that EVERYONE should be wearing a mask right now anytime they have to leave their homes. That said, you don’t need NIOSH-approved N95 respirators to walk around your local supermarket, so don’t run over to Craigslist and cough up $30 per mask for scammers who are shamelessly price gouging while taking away from N95 inventory that should be made available to hospitals.
Instead, all you need is a decent multi-layer face mask like the best-selling Jointown 3-layer face masks that are back in stock at Amazon right now for just 70¢ each. As long as you practice strict social distancing as well as good hygiene, which is just as important, these masks will do a fantastic job of protecting you. That’s why they’re Amazon’s best-sellers and that’s why tens of thousands of our readers have bought them over the past couple of weeks.
Face Mask, Pack of 50: $34.99 ($0.70 / mask)
In addition to those masks, Amazon’s other best-sellers are also back in stock today. They’re 3-layer face masks by Basic Resources and they also cost $34.99 per 50-count box. They have a similar design and utilize similar materials to protect you, so they’re very effective when combined with social distancing and good hygiene.
Single Use Disposable Face Mask (Pack of 50), Blue: $34.99 ($0.70 / mask)
Everyone knows about social distancing these days, but what exactly constitutes good hygiene in the age of the novel coronavirus? Long story short, you need to wash your hands every time you touch any surface while in public. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a doctor’s office, a supermarket, or anywhere else.
Using soap and water isn’t exactly practical, of course, so you’re going to need hand sanitizer and it’s still impossible to find in supermarkets and drug stores. Lucky for you, Amazon’s two best-sellers are both back in stock. First, you can get a 2-pack of Zatural 62% ethyl alcohol hand sanitizer gel for $22.99 right now, which works out to $11.50 per 8-ounce bottle or $1.44 per ounce. In this day and age, that’s really not bad at all.
Hand Sanitizer Liquid Spray – Rinse Free Waterless Hand Cleaner – 62% Alcohol – 4 Thieves Essen…: $22.99 ($11.50 per 8 oz. bottle)
In addition to that best-selling sanitizer, you’ll also find Artnaturals alcohol-based hand sanitizer back in stock right now at Amazon for the first time in quite some time. You can pick up a 12-pack of 8-ounce bottles right now for $39.99, so it’s a much better deal. The only issue is that you’ll want to ensure you buy from the seller called Organic Nature Bin because people seem to be having problems with some other sellers.
Artnaturals Alcohol Based Hand Sanitizer Gel (2 Pack x 8 Fl Oz / 220ml) Infused with Alovera Ge…: $39.99 ($3.33 / 8 oz. bottle)

Pixel 5 will almost certainly disappoint fans
- New reports say that Google’s upcoming flagship phone will not run on the same flagship processor as other premium Android handsets.
- Pixel 5 specs will be inferior to OnePlus 8 and Galaxy S20, as Google has chosen the Snapdragon 765 instead of the 865 chip for the phone.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The Pixel 5 will mark the first year in Google’s history of making smartphones when the new phone doesn’t rock the best possible processor. We’ve told you time and again that the Pixel 5 won’t run on the best possible mobile processor for Android phones, as several reports suggested that Google is looking at a cheaper alternative from Qualcomm. Pixel rumors are more often right than wrong, even the early ones. And we have more reports that say the same thing. Pixel 5 will not be a flagship device that could match any of its Android rivals, and that will be a huge disappointment.
