How to protect yourself from the coronavirus while grocery shopping
- Wearing a mask is the best thing you can do to avoid the coronavirus while shopping.
- Wearing gloves, however, is not necessary.
- Avoiding grocery stores during peak hours is advisable.

Though the coronavirus is still ravaging many parts of the country, the pandemic has seemingly started to subside — ever so slightly — in some major U.S. cities. Over the weekend, for instance, Detroit for the first time in many weeks reported that they went a full day without a single coronavirus-related death.
Meanwhile, many states across the country have either reopened or are planning to reopen in the coming weeks. What this means that we’ll see a lot more people venturing out in public as states loosen up stay-at-home directives and other safety measures initially enacted to keep the coronavirus contained.

A deadly virus is spreading across the United States… in rabbits
- A deadly virus has been found in rabbits in several US states, and it could pose a risk to populations of various species across the country.
- The disease causes internal bleeding, leading to death, and is considered to be highly contagious.
- The virus can spread between rabbit species, but it’s not thought to be a danger to humans at this time.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The novel coronavirus pandemic has everyone a bit on edge, but for the most part, the animal kingdom appears to be doing just fine. In some cases, species are actually thriving in the absence of humans who are holed up in their homes. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for North America’s rabbits, which are facing a viral crisis of their very own.
As CNN reports, a particularly deadly strain of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease has been detected in rabbit populations in the Western United States and it threatens to spread throughout North America. That would be bad news not just for the rabbits, but for us as well.

Joe Rogan’s podcast is becoming a Spotify exclusive
- As part of Spotify’s original and exclusive podcast efforts, Spotify announced a major deal on Tuesday — the move of Joe Rogan’s podcast to Spotify’s platform later this year.
- That will happen on September 1, with The Joe Rogan Experience giving Spotify one more weapon it can use to challenge rivals like Apple for podcast supremacy.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Spotify is ramping up its efforts to become a major player in the podcast game, announcing a deal on Tuesday to bring Joe Rogan’s massively popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience to the streaming service this fall. It’s a major coup for Spotify for a number of reasons, including the fact that videos of Rogan’s podcast on YouTube regularly garner millions of views, an audience that will presumably follow him to a new home — and, more importantly, his podcast has not been available on Spotify at all before now.
Here’s Rogan’s Spotify page, where episodes of his podcast will eventually be posted. Right now, all you’ll find there is a 50-second welcome message from Rogan, explaining the change. As part of the deal, the show will debut on Spotify on September 1.

Sony confirms that more PS5 games will be revealed ‘soon’
- Sony has yet to reveal the design of the PlayStation 5 or any first-party next-gen games.
- In a recent meeting, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said that the company plans to “introduce a compelling line up of titles soon,” though he did not offer any dates.
- Recent rumors suggest that Sony will hold a digital reveal event in early June.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
The longer that Sony is silent about its plans for the PlayStation 5, the more rumors and leaks we see. Over the past few days, we have heard that Sony was planning to hold a virtual reveal event on June 4th, and then a second report suggested that the event has been delayed. This event is expected to serve as the unveiling of the PS5’s design as well as the debut of some of the biggest games coming to the next-gen console at launch.
Sony has yet to make any official announcements about the rumored event, but during the Sony Corporate Strategy Meeting on Tuesday, CEO and President Kenichiro Yoshida hinted to PlayStation fans that they will not have to wait much longer to see some of the games that are being developed for the PlayStation 5.

These are the 6 most promising coronavirus vaccine candidates
- Six coronavirus vaccine candidates have been determined to be the likeliest to succeed, a Morgan Stanley analyst said in a recent note to investors.
- The list of candidates includes a few familiar names, like Moderna, Oxford, and BioNTech. These labs are already conducting promising human trials, and the drugs could be approved later this year.
- Other vaccine candidates from Johnson & Johnson and Sanofi could be ready by the end of 2021.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
There’s no cure for the novel coronavirus right now, but significant progress is being made. Physicians treating COVID-19 patients have been able to discover all sorts of unusual symptoms and come up with treatments that can speed up recovery and reduce complications. Similarly, vaccine research looks incredibly promising.
We have no idea if a vaccine will be able to generate the desired immune response and block infection, but more than 100 teams came forward with ideas on how to stop the virus. As many as eight of them are already in various phases of clinical trials, and at least a couple of them could be approved for emergency use as soon as this fall. Of all of them, analysts at Morgan Stanley think that six of the existing candidates are the most likely to succeed.

Krispy Kreme is celebrating the Class of 2020 with free donuts
- The Krispy Kreme donut chain has launched a new promotion to help it honor the high school graduating Class of 2020.
- The deal includes a themed 2020 Graduate Dozen box that’s available for purchase this week.
- On Tuesday, seniors who show up to a Krispy Kreme store in Class of 2020 apparel, however, can get the box for free.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Since the coronavirus outbreak and the resulting social distancing guidelines that followed in its wake ended up wrecking the chance for high school seniors to enjoy the graduation ceremony they’d been working toward for four years, people have been trying to find different ways to honor the Class of 2020. President Obama delivered a virtual commencement message to graduates, and Facebook groups have been launched, like this one that allows you to “adopt” a high school senior to congratulate them with gifts.
On Tuesday, meanwhile, the Krispy Kreme donut chain is doing what it does best — preparing sweet treats to give away to the new high school graduates.

This $22 Fire TV accessory adds a key feature you’ve been missing
- There are certain Fire TV Stick accessories that everyone out there should have, and the one we’re going to tell you about in this post is at the top of the list.
- It’s called the SofaBaton F2 and it adds some key functionality that Amazon’s Alexa voice remote is currently missing.
- Once you start using it with your Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, or any other Fire TV device you might have, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Amazon’s many Fire TV devices like the Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, and Fire TV Cube offer a fantastic streaming media player experience right out of the box. In fact, it’s definitely one of the two best experiences you can get right now. Personally, I really prefer it to Roku devices. Roku is still the biggest streaming media player brand out there right now and it’s media players are great, no question. I am just personally not a fan of the Roku user interface, and that’s why I choose Fire TV devices instead.
If you’re also on team Fire TV, you know how great the user experience is that Amazon has designed. The UI is great, the software is nice and fast, and you can easily find an app for literally any streaming service you can possibly imagine. As a matter of fact, if you ask me, there’s really only one place where Fire TV devices like the Fire TV Stick are lacking: Amazon’s Alexa voice remote.
Amazon recently added some universal remote buttons to its voice remote that let you control the volume on your TV or soundbar and mute the sound. It’s a nice addition but truthfully, it’s not enough. That’s where my favorite new Fire TV accessory comes into play. It’s called the SofaBaton F2 Universal Remote Attachment for Amazon Fire TV Streaming Players, and it’s on sale right now on Amazon at a deep discount.
SofaBaton F2 Universal Remote Attachment for Amazon Fire TV Streaming Player with Power Volume…: $21.99
The SofaBaton F2 is basically a simple universal remote control that’s built to attach to Amazon’s remotes. It doesn’t make the remote any wider, just longer, and that’s key to a comfortable design that fits well in your hand. In addition to power, volume, and mute buttons like you would find on Amazon’s newer Alexa voice remote, you also get channel buttons, three configurable buttons that can do anything, and an input button so you can switch your TV’s input. That last one is crucial.
When I bought my SofaBaton F2 it was $40 on Amazon and it’s definitely worth every penny. Snag one today, however, and you’ll find a $16 discount plus an extra $2 coupon you can clip to drop the price to just $21.99 total. Trust me, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without one.

Massive CDC study aims to answer coronavirus immunity questions
- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will conduct an extensive COVID-19 study to determine the scope of the infection and the strength of the immune response to the novel coronavirus.
- The nationwide study will analyze blood samples from up to 325,000 donors over 18 months.
- The results would detail the evolution of COVID-19 immunity over time, which is crucial data that officials need to develop better coronavirus containment and treatment strategies.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Containing and treating a highly infectious disease like COVID-19 isn’t enough. We also need to learn what sort of immunity we can expect after surviving the infection. The strength of the immune response is also essential data for the vaccine candidates that will be chosen for immunization campaigns.
Ideally, COVID-19 immunity will be long-lasting, which would make reinfection virtually impossible. Also, long-lasting immunity combined with widespread vaccination would deliver the herd immunity that we need much faster. In a best-case scenario, long-term resistance would help us eradicate the virus altogether.
Dr. Anthony Fauci already warned that eliminating the new coronavirus is highly unlikely, however. Similarly, the WHO said that the virus might never go away. The immunity question still stands, as we need to know precisely how long the protection against reinfection lasts. The CDC plans to run a massive antibody study in the US in the next 18 months to track the disease, and the hope is that we will get the answer we want.
