The International Space Station typically plays host to a crew of six space-faring scientists at a time. During crew changes that number can be temporarily higher or lower, but there are almost always six humans aboard the spacecraft at any given time. The robot population of the orbiting laboratory, on the other hand, is steadily climbing.

Back in May, NASA unboxed an AI-powered robot capable of navigating in zero gravity. The boxy bot was an “Astrobee,” and after half a year hovering in space, NASA just unleashed its twin. The new robot, named Honey, learned a lot from its companion, Bumble, including mapping data it had gathered that should give Honey a leg up in navigating the interior of the space station.

Personally, when I think of Black Friday, the first products that come to mind are TVs, games, and appliances, but the holiday shopping season is also a great time to upgrade a phone or tablet. As 2019 draws to a close, one of the highlights of the year from a mobile technology perspective has to be the advent of foldability that started to become a fixture across the industry this year. Consumer electronics giants from around the world, from Apple to Samsung as well as Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi, have all experimented with foldable tech in one form or another, be it by securing patents for a design, tinkering behind the scenes, and in some cases releasing a full-fledged device like a foldable smartphone.

Samsung has arguably been among the most aggressive along these lines, thanks to its release this fall of the Galaxy Fold smartphone and the promise of additional foldable smartphone releases being prepped for 2020. While all that goes on, meanwhile, Samsung is also toiling away on another piece of foldable tech — a tablet.

Here’s what a NASA Moon lander might look like

NASA wants to send humans back to the Moon, and it hopes to achieve that goal by 2024. Whether or not such a mission is possible on such an abbreviated timeline remains to be seen, but the space agency is slowly moving forward with its lunar exploration projects and just offered the world a glimpse at what a rover-carrying lunar lander might look like.

Before astronauts make the trip, NASA wants to send multiple unmanned missions to the Moon to return scientific data. NASA hopes that one of those missions will include a lander and a rover, and it’s been hashing out the details of what that might look like.

Data shows that Disney+ is adding a million new subscribers every day

Ever since Disney+ launched earlier this month, it’s seemingly been all anyone can talk about. Whether it’s the near-endless collection of classic movies and cartoons or the debut of #BabyYoda in The Mandalorian or the lack of a few basic features (one of which was finally added today), the streaming service has made a huge impact in a very short amount of time, and the early subscription numbers appear to be just as impressive.

Citing numbers from research firm Apptopia, the New York Post reports that Disney+ app has been downloaded more than 15.5 million times since November 12th, and has generated over $5 million through in-app purchases. Millions of people are not only downloading the app, but are also forgoing the free trial for a paid subscription.

Hey, remember back exactly one year ago when the CDC begged everyone to throw away romaine lettuce because it was making people sick? Well wouldn’t you know it, it’s happening again! Over two dozen people have already been hospitalized with severe E. coli infections across 16 states, and the CDC is once again sounding the alarm.

The romaine lettuce in question is from the Salinas Valley, California, growing region. Stickers or stamped text on packaging will tell you where the product originated, so if you’ve purchased lettuce that originated in Salinas Valley you should avoid eating it.

Not long after official word started to circulate earlier this month that Fitbit had reached a deal to be acquired by Google for $2.1 billion, some users started promising to abandon the company and its wearables upon the news that the data-hungry search giant would now own it all.

Not every user, of course, proclaimed that they would leave Fitbit en masse thanks to the acquisition. But it does beg the question of how might the customer response have been different had Google in fact lost the bidding war to another tech firm that was in the hunt — Facebook, whose CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself met with Fitbit’s top executive at least three times trying to get a deal done.
