Android is about to get even faster battery charging than the iPhone 11

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Charging at speeds of up to 65W, the Reno Ace is the world’s only handset to achieve such speeds. The affordable flagship handset, if you can find it in stores that is, only needs half an hour to replenish the 4,000 mAh battery. But that’s not the fastest phone charging tech around. Other Chinese smartphone vendors have been teasing speeds that reach 100W, and even exceed it. And it looks like the first phone that could support 100W charging may be coming soon.

Tesla unveils its brand new Cybertruck and it looks absolutely insane

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

After years of anticipation, Tesla today finally unveiled its all-electric pickup truck, a vehicle the company has dubbed the Cybertruck. We can get into the specs in a bit, but for starters, we have to address the obvious: Tesla’s Cybertruck looks like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing, but you have to give Tesla props for completely re-imagining what a pickup truck is supposed to look like. The final design essentially looks like a military vehicle out of some futuristic movie. Tesla CEO Elon Musk certainly wasn’t lying when he said the vehicle would resemble a “really futuristic cyberpunk ‘Blade Runner’ pickup truck.”

Astronomers spot steamy new exoplanet

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Astronomers from around the world just confirmed the existence of an entirely new planet. It was first spotted by NASA’s TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) and then confirmed after additional investigation. It’s big, even larger than Jupiter, but unlike our own gas giant, it orbits its host star a much shorter distance.

The new gas giant, now known as TOI-677 b, is thought to be around 23 percent more massive than Jupiter, and it completes an orbit of its star every 11.23 days. That makes it a “warm Jupiter,” rather than a “hot Jupiter,” which is the name given to gas giants that complete an orbit within 10 days.

‘Joker 2’ isn’t a done deal after all

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A report on Wednesday said that Joker 2 is already in the works at Warner Bros., with Todd Phillips set to direct the sequel. Given the film’s massive success at the box office, a sequel makes perfect sense, with Phillips having fielded questions about the possibility of a second Joker film since the film’s launch.

But the director always said this would be a one-off film, one that’s not even supposed to be connected with the larger DCEU. It turns out that the story that said Joker 2 is already in the works may not be accurate, with two separate reports surfacing in the hours since disputing it.

Watch this Formula One crew perform a pit stop in zero gravity

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

You don’t have to be a Formula One racing fan to appreciate the incredible skill that goes into a perfect pit stop. Pit crews have to be capable of swapping out tires, refueling, and even replacing an entire front end in just seconds. It’s incredible, and it all falls apart if even one of the team members isn’t at the top of their game.

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing is one of the top F1 teams, and the pit crew is top-notch. They’ve long since proven that they’re a capable team, but just how good are they? To find out, the skilled mechanics recently put their skills to a truly insane test, carrying out a pit stop on an F1 car while floating in zero gravity.

Apple and Intel join forces to sue a notorious patent troll

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

With literally billions of dollars of cash in the bank, it’s no great surprise that Apple has long been a favorite target for patent trolls looking to make a quick buck. And though Apple tends to be targeted more than most, tech companies across the board simply can’t seem to escape a barrage of what are typically frivolous lawsuits.

When faced with pesky lawsuits from patent trolls, some companies are inclined to settle as opposed to embarking on what can often be costly litigation. Other companies, meanwhile, are prone to taking a principled stand and are more willing to fight back. In recent years, Apple has taken this approach with greater frequency. What’s more, Apple now appears to be embracing a more pro-active approach wherein they’re bringing the fight to patent trolls directly.

Chris Evans says he won’t make any cameos in the Disney+ MCU shows

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Captain America is one of three original Avengers who left the team at the end of Endgame. But he’s also the only one left alive when Endgame concludes, and we never see him die, even if he’d said to be in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Rather than explaining that one of Earth’s favorite heroes went back in time to a different timeline to get a second chance at having a personal life, whatever secret intelligence agency that would follow S.H.I.E.L.D. would instead declare him dead, a fallen hero of the second Battle of New York.

But just because old man Rogers is with the new Avengers in 2023 — providing he sticks around — that doesn’t mean you should expect any cameos from Chris Evans in the next phase of MCU adventures.

Samsung might have three more smartphones to launch before the end of 2019

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung has already refreshed both of its flagship smartphone brands this year, but according to a recent report, the company isn’t even close to done yet. According to 91mobiles, a source familiar with Samsung’s plans claims that the South Korean company will launch three more phones before the end of 2019. If the source is correct, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy Note 10 Lite, and Galaxy A51 in December.

This doesn’t line up with previous reports, but with the Galaxy S11 expected to hit the market next spring, December might be as good a time as any to unload a bunch of affordable handsets. That said, it may be best to take this report with a grain of salt until more leaks and information come out to corroborate it.
