Huawei Mate 30 Pro finally arrives in Europe with a big asterisk – no Google services
Six months after the US banned companies here (like Google) from doing business with China-based telecommunications giant Huawei, the two countries are still no closer to burying the hatchet and remain stuck at an impasse. Not only that, but Huawei deputy chairman Ken Hu said during the Fortune Global Forum in Paris this week that he thinks the conflict is going to outlast President Trump’s time in office. “It won’t finish with this administration,” is how he put it.
In response, Huawei has been sourcing more of its own components in-house and ramping up its business with European suppliers, to compensate for the ban closing off access to other sources. Speaking of Europe, Huawei’s new Mate 30 flagship is also finally headed to Europe next month — though the availability there comes with a couple of major asterisks.

NASA’s hunt for alien life gets big boost with Europa finding
Of all the things that could make or break the potential for a world to support life, liquid water is one of the biggest. If a planet is devoid of water, or if that water is entirely locked away as ice, odds that life has taken root there drop dramatically. Earth has plenty of water, but we’re learning more and more that other locations in our solar system also hold liquid water, and sometimes in vast amounts.
Jupiter’s moon Europa has offered tantalizing hints at its life-support potential for decades. Scientists have long known that the moon is covered in thick ice, but evidence that liquid water still flows deep inside has remained sparse. Now, a research team using satellite imagery of Europa has confirmed the presence of water vapor around the frosty world.

A third case of the ‘Black Death’ plague just popped up in China
Last week, China gave the world a bit of a scare when health officials in the country confirmed that two people had come down with the most deadly form of plague. The pneumonic plague, which is believed to be the variant that caused the Black Death pandemic, showed up in a husband and wife in a remote area of the country.
Now, China says a third person has also tested positive for the plague. What makes this news even more troubling is that the man apparently had no contact with the other two plague victims. The good news, if you can call it that, is that the man has the bubonic form of the illness.

We have big news about the one original Avenger who didn’t get any closure in ‘Endgame’
Avengers: Endgame didn’t just bring us the epic conclusion of the Infinity Saga, but also marked the exit of three major characters who we’ve grown to love over the past decade. Black Widow and Iron Man died in their quests to do whatever it takes to get rid of Thanos, and Captain America went back to the past to grow old with Peggy. Yes, Natasha will still appear in a standalone Black Widow film next year, the first MCU Phase 4 movie, but it’s a prequel so it won’t continue her story. And Tony Stark may also score cameos in future films, but only when the action happens in the past. RDJ will also voice Iron Man in the What If…? Disney+ series, but those stories still aren’t advancing past Endgame. The same goes for Steve Rogers, who passed on the Cap mantle to Falcon.
Of the remaining three original six Avengers, including Hawkeye, Hulk, and Thor, two of them are expected to exit the MCU in Phase 4. Now, we have news about the third.
