SpaceX is about to reuse a rocket component it’s never reused before
SpaceX is already well ahead of its competition when it comes to reusable rocket technology. The company has proven many times that its hardware can fly, land, and fly again. This lowers cost while also allowing for rapid turnarounds and more launches for more clients. It’s working well thus far, but SpaceX wants to further optimize its business model by reusing other pieces of its Falcon rockets in addition to the boosters.
As SpaceflightNow reports, a launch is currently scheduled for November 11th that will see a previously-flown SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket fairing sent into space. It’ll be the first time SpaceX has ever reused a rocket fairing — which is one half of the nosecone that sites at the top of the vehicle — and if it works, it could signal huge cost savings for future missions.

Google finally gets serious about protecting you from malicious Android apps
Every so often, we report on discoveries from security researchers who warn of newly identified batches of bad Android apps, often only after they’ve racked up millions of downloads. Back in September, for example, we mentioned this discovery by researchers at Wandera of a group of apps that requested sketchy permissions and included intrusive ads, among other problems, while garnering more than 1.5 million downloads before Google booted them from the Play Store.
It’s a constant game of Whack-a-Mole Google has seemed content to play when it comes to its app store. The bad stuff keeps sneaking in. Google kicks it out after-the-fact once it’s identified (often by third-parties). Rinse, repeat. But maybe now that pattern will start to change a bit.

iOS 13.2.2 update now available on iPhone with fix for multitasking bug
Apple rolled out an update for iOS 13.2 on Thursday that should address the terrible multitasking issue that has been plaguing iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users for the past several days. Apps running in the background were resetting almost immediately, which was causing some users to lose progress and data.
This update comes just two days after the first iOS 13.3 beta was seeded to developers. The background refresh bug is the highlight of this update, but there are other bug fixes included as well, so if you’re ready for a better overall iOS experience, this is one you’ll want to download and install right away.

T-Mobile just launched a new 5G wireless plan that only costs $15/month
In an effort to try and win support for (and to speed along) its still-pending merger with Sprint, T-Mobile has rolled out a suite of initiatives that include everything from “Project 10 Million” (which will bring free internet to 10 million households) to a new wireless plan announced Thursday that costs a shockingly low $15/month.
About the latter, the plan is called T-Mobile Connect and costs only half as much each month as the lowest-priced T-Mobile plan currently offered today. With it, users would get unlimited talk and text, as well as 2GB of data.

Google Stadia now available on the Play Store, but you can’t stream games yet
Google wants you to play console-quality games on virtually any device you own. That’s the conceit of Google Stadia, a service that streams gameplay to your device as Google’s servers handle all the necessary processing. You will still have to buy games separately, but this might be the first truly capable cloud gaming service.
Stadia isn’t ready quite to beam those games to your Android devices just yet, but if you want to get a head start, the Stadia app is available to download from the Play Store right now.
