Behold: This is what Apple’s completely new iPhone 12 design might look like
There are still almost two full months left in 2019, but the year is already over as far as smartphone fans are concerned. There are no more big releases set to take place this year, though we will get a peek at the new RAZR revival that Motorola cooked up. It’s exciting indeed, with the same slim clamshell form factor as the original, but with a large folding display inside. We can’t wait to get our hands on it, but sadly we’re going to have to since Motorola isn’t expected to actually release it until sometime next year.
With nothing else of note set to be released in 2019, our attention now turns to 2020. Samsung is expected to start off the year with the Galaxy S11, which should debut sometime in February ahead of a March release. We’ll also see a new Galaxy Fold 2 at some point during the year, and other vendors have all sorts of nifty new flagship phones planned for 2020. Of course, there’s one new smartphone series that’s already generating much more hype than the rest despite being more than 10 months away from launching. That’s right, we’re talking about the new iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max that will be announced sometime in September 2020. It’s still early days, of course, but we already know a bit about the iPhone 12 series’ overhauled design thanks to reports from the world’s most accurate Apple insider. Now, a smartphone blog has taken what we know about the iPhone 12 and used that info to imagine what Apple’s reinvented iPhone might look like next year.

Early Black Friday deal gets you Anker’s most popular wireless charging pad for $8.99
Most flagship smartphones these days support wireless charging and if you’re not taking advantage of it, you’re crazy. It might seem like it’s not a big deal, but there’s something so wonderfully liberating about not having to deal with cables and connectors anymore. Don’t take our word for it though, because it’s time to see for yourself with one of the best deals we’ve ever seen on a wireless charger. The Anker PowerWave Pad Fast Wireless Charger is insanely popular and it typically sells for around $15. An Amazon discount slashes that price to $10 thanks to an early Black Friday deal, but the coupon code AKSD0313 cuts it even farther to an all-time low price of just $8.99! Definitely don’t miss out on this killer deal.
Anker Wireless Charger, PowerWave Pad Upgraded 10W Max, 7.5W for iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max,…: $8.99 (use code AKSD0313)
Here’s more info from the product page:
- The Anker Advantage: Join the 50+ million powered by our leading technology.
- The Need for Speed: A high-efficiency chipset provides 10W high-speed charging for Samsung Galaxy, while iPhones get a boosted 7. 5W charge that’s 10% faster than other wireless chargers. For best results, use a quick charge Adapter (9V/2a) for Samsung Galaxy and iPhone charging.
- Led indicator: The LED indicator lets you know the charging status. If the indicator is flashing blue, check to make sure that there are no objects between your phone and the charging surface. If the indicator is flashing Green, make sure you are using a 5V/2a or above adapter, or try a different adapter and cable.
- Case friendly: Don’t fumble with your phone case. Power Wave transmits charging power directly through protective cases. Rubber/plastic/TPU cases under 5 mm thickness only. Magnetic and metal attachments or cards will prevent charging.
- What you get: PowerWave pad, 4 ft Micro USB cable, welcome guide, worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

Researchers prove iPhones, Android, and smart speakers have a huge security flaw that can’t be fixed
Researchers, including a person who was responsible for discovering the massive Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities that chipmakers and computer makers hurried to patch in early 2018, have discovered a huge security issue that can affect practically every smart speaker from Amazon, Google, or Apple. Apparently, you can use laser beams to target microphones the speakers, which interpret the signal as originating from voice commands. The hackers were able to perform all sorts of actions with the help of these smart devices, and there’s no real fix for the time being. All you can do is make sure your speaker isn’t facing a window, that it can’t access sensitive data or devices. Then again, it’s not like there’s any proof that anyone has been abusing the unexpected flaw. And actually making it work requires plenty of work.

Guess what happened when an idiot brought a gun-shaped toilet paper roller on an airplane?
Hey, so, you know that flight you have planned for the upcoming holidays? Yeah, I’m sure it’s going to be fine and everything, but one word of advice: Don’t bring anything that looks like a gun with you. I know, you shouldn’t even really have to say such a thing these days, but apparently, not everyone realizes that gun-shaped things can cause problems on planes.
Recently, the Transportation Security Administration agents at the Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey discovered what appeared to be a gun in a traveler’s carry-on page. This, as you might imagine, set off several red flags and agents dove into the person’s luggage to see what exactly they were trying to bring onto the plane. It was not, in fact, a gun.

Netflix built a new tool for those of you burned out on politics and Trump
I would like to personally extend a warm thank-you to late-night talk show host and stand-up comedian Seth Meyers, whose Netflix comedy special Lobby Baby premieres on the streamer on Tuesday.
No, the mere fact of that premiere is not what I’m referencing — although, sure, congrats on that, Seth! My focus is instead on the new tool that Seth got Netflix to build and include in his special, a tool that will be greeted with relief and appreciation by many of you who are likely burned out on politics and the Trump news that seems to confront you almost anywhere you go on the Internet.

Police want to interrogate Amazon’s Alexa over grisly murder
Nobody likes the idea of a mega-huge company like Amazon listening in on our everyday conversations, but what if Alexa could help solve your murder? Florida police are hoping it’s possible, and they’re asking for Amazon’s help in solving a murder that left 32-year-old Silva Galva dead.
The suspect, 43-year-old Adam Reechard Crespo, was Galva’s boyfriend, and he claims that her death was the result of a tragic accident during a physical altercation between the two. Investigators aren’t so sure, and they’re hoping that the Echo speaker in the apartment may have overheard the incident.
